Yay or Nay? Katy Perry Wears Pink Giambattista Valli

If Katy Perry was attempting to resemble a pink popsicle, she succeeded. Normally, I'm a fan of the monochromatic look: I'll match my manicure or make up to my outfit when the situation calls for it. Going tonal in a single colour family looks chic and put together... but Katy Perry's version is a bit wide off the mark.

Matching your hair perfectly to your outfit? Too kitschy for me. Adding a stark contrast with black tights and shoes really throws me off. Finally, there is the issue of the dome shaped capelet. On the runway, this might work: with the added pink jacket (right), the dress doesn't look so out of place. Alone though (left), it just looks a little too 'star trek high fashion' in my opinion.

I usually love Katy Perry and her crazy fashion risks but this one I am not feeling. One part I do like is her bubblegum beehive- I think with any other outfit this would be a fun and quirky hair style.

What do you think? Should we celebrate her brazenness or ask her to please change her outfit? Is this a Yay or a Nay?
