Yay or Nay: Leelee Sobieski in Spring 2013 Dior
Is it just me or has Leelee Sobieski fallen off the map? Where in the world has she been for the past few years? According to Wikipedia, she's been doing a lot of indie flicks of late, getting married and having a baby, and apparently she's also been working on her personal style and practising her poses. Just check this out:

Damn, gurl. Where did this couture appreciation come from? Since when are you so hot? I feel like Leelee Sobieski is a designer's dream. Tall, thin and lean, with a bone structure that won't quit. She is #WERKIN this outfit like it's her job. Check out that hip and hand placement. The lady knows what she is doing.
First things first, let's discuss the hair and makeup. Badass. Slicked back and a bold red lip? I like it. It's modern, fresh and androgynous which contrasts with the very feminine bottom. On that topic, let's discuss this skirt action. I think I like it. I'm not too sold on the colour and iridescent taffeta isn't my favourite, but I like the cut and length. It's different and very chic.
Now let's get to the weird part: the shoes. I have no idea what's going on there. I've looked at photos of the shoes on the runway too and still, I don't get them. It's like a cap toe and it's attached to hoisery? It's just a weird mess and I don't know how to feel.
Overall, I like this. What do you think? Is this a yay or a nay? Leave a comment below by February 10th with your vote and you could win!

Looks a little strange...like it's on fire! Not too sure how I feel about this look.
Yay! It's bold and different and she really pulls it off :)
Yay! I think she looks super modern, yet elegant. I don't like the shoes though
Yay. Not sure why but I like the balance, proportion and print scale. Maybe because it harkens back to Dior's new look silhouettes of the 50's. It's approachable and glam. I didn't recognize her - killer cheekbones!
Nay, Like the print but not the skirt the way it is made . Shoes are hideous.

Yes I think you said it right. This is definitely more a couture statement than something truly wearable for the 99.9% of us who don't have this figure (nor the occasion or inclination) to wear this outfit. I'm surprised by how much I like it. The shoes are off-putting though. I wonder if they had been black or some other neutral I might have liked them better, but they appear to be a lemon-lime & pink duo which just doesn't make sense with the skirt's colours. |
