Yay or Nay?: Leighton Meester's Bangs and Brows
I love me some Leighton Meester but I'm having trouble loving this ensemble she's got going on over here. She recently attended a charity event at a boutique and tried a daring pattern on pattern outfit by J. Mendel with shoes by Bulgari.
This fabric isn't my favourite and I'm not head over heels with these chunky platforms but all that could be forgiven if she didn't appear so plain jane to me!
Leighton is far too pretty to be looking so drained and tired! While bangs are usually suggested for those with a high forehead, I don't think she needs them; they just make her look unkempt. While I usually I love a full, thick brow, hers make seem very young- but not in a good way. Her eyeshadow in a shade of yellow-gold matches her dress but not her eyes or skin tone.
Leighton's face is better suited for a glamorous but natural look. Bring back the preppy Blair we all love!
What do you think- is this look a yay or nay?

Nay. She looks pale and washed out.
I will have to say Yay on the bangs- I just got bangs cut for the first time in 25 years and I'm loving them. I have the high forehead thing that you mentioned (an "eight-head" actually!) and it does help to balance the face. I think the bangs look very cute on her.
@MakeupGuruEmily- I agree. It's not bangs per say that I don't like, it is the bangs on her I don't like!
I think she's trying a new more "indie/artsy" look. It doesn't really suit her, but it's not super awful.
yay. I like the bangs it's very retro and cute. I just got bangs myself because I needed a new look but wasn't ready to chop off all my long locks. However, her brows are a tad too bushy for my taste. Makes her look a little too plain.
I have to say nay! Totally agree that the bangs, dress, pale skin and eyebrows are not doing her favours really (although I also agree that she looks awesome most of the time!)
I always like it when celebs look more like the rest of us - shows that there is a girl-next-door in all of us, even the most glamourous (also proves that the reverse is true - there is a swan in every duckling!). However, I'm not really keen on this look. Perhaps it's that her face looks a little too pale or that her hairstyle is too casual - I can't put a finger on it. I find the dress pattern really busy but I do like it.
Nay! This takes me back to my awkward pre-teen days! Nobody should ever want to re-live that! |
