Your Summer Pedicure Style + Must-Haves Essentials
Summer time means shorts, swim suits and sandals. Which in turn means shaving, waxing and pedicures. While it's nice to treat yourself to a fun and relaxing spa day every so often; it isn't always possible to make the trip. Which is where the at home pedicure comes in handy!
Creating a spa like atmosphere right in your own bathroom is actually pretty simple. Why not try and DIY some bath bombs? Then read up on creating the perfect bath over here! When comes to the pedi portion, we've already given you the low do on how to properly give your toes some TLC so we thought instead it might be fun to talk about one of the funnest parts of the process: the polish!
Before we get ahead of ourselves though, as always, before you polish, you need to prep. Take a gander at our DIY pedicure and then may we suggest some of these fine items:
1. The Body Shop Double Sided Foot File (C$5.00)
2. Fruits and Passion Deodorizing Foot Care Repairing Butter (C$15.50)
3. The Body Shop No More Rough Stuff Pumice (C$6.00)
4. Burt's Bees Peppermint Foot Lotion (C$14.99)
5. Dr. Scholl's Intensive Heel Repair Cream (C$15.59)
6. Sally Hansen Pumice Foot Polish (C$7.39)
Now, let's get down to the nail polish! With all sorts of beautiful polish colours available this summer, it's hard to pick which one to use. However, we're equally as lucky in the shoe department. This summer, colour is in! The fabulous thing about colour is that you can play on it and pull a monochromatic or a colour block trend. Why limit yourself? So after stumbling upon this article, we were inspired to create 5 colourful pedi looks with matching and clashing options!

The Blue Nine West sandals worn with Zoya in Lara would be my favorite! :)
I don't worry about trying to match my polish to my shoes, that's silly, the polish lasts much longer then one outing in a specific shoe. I just pick a colour I like at them time and do my nails.

Actually.... it might be OPI's Fly on my toes right now....
LOVE that pedis last so much longer than manis! Hot turquoise on my toes right now... and I think it will last at least a month! I am always about the clash...I love the unexpected zing of colour...
I love using these colour combos in contrast! To some it may seem crazy, but in terms of Color Theory these are all complementary shades and are actually ideal combinations. I'm particularly loving the blue Julep nail polish! I also second the Vaseline and socks idea, though if you don't have Vaseline on hand, massage oil (or even canola in a pinch) or heavy duty lotion will help.
I am wearing Mint Green nail polish on my toes right now. For summer ready feet, I swear by the old method where you put Vaseline and socks on your feet before bed to keep them soft. |
