Milan went Retro for Spring 2011.  We saw 1920s fringes, 60s silhouettes, and wild colours of the 70s and 80s.   Minimalism - not so much.

Antonio Marras, Versace, Roberto Cavalli

Fringes and feathers were huge, matched with both monochrome and wildly colourful fabrics.

Alberta Ferretti, Antonio Marras, Bottega Veneta

Languidly flowing silhouettes shimmered in both sheer and metallic...

We hear the next celeb to create a fashion line is none other than the fabulous Claudia Schiffer.

News broke during Milan Fashion Week of an October 2010 event in the works, with the collection set to debut for the Winter 2011 season.  The gossip says cashmere knits will be the focal point, and given the lady's overall sense of style, we're quite eager to see what she has up her sleeve...

As Tim Gunn might say, "Make it work, Anna."

World of Interiors mag October 2010 issue has a worthwhile peek inside Anna's Long Island (NY) summerhouse (though to the rest of us simple folk it's rather palatial).  Unfortunately for Anna, the woods are "deer infested" and the river is "toxic"

Well, we'd rough it there, despite such challenges.  Somehow...

File that one...

London Fashion Week wrapped its Spring/Summer 2011 shows last week, and we're loving the bold trends from the runways:

Unique, Antonio Berardi, Kinder Aggugini

Masculine clothing made feminine was freer than in New York, with blousy pantlegs and full skirts.  If there were any similarities to NY Fashion Week, that's where it ended.  And how 'bout the hats?

Burberry Prorsum,...

Halloween is nearly here, so what will you wear to your Spooky Soiree?

Avatar, Toy Story 3, SuperMario, and Percy Jackson-themed costumes are safe bets.

Movie-themed costumes will be a huge trend.  With plenty of age crossover appeal, adults and kids will have to coordinate who scores the Queen of Hearts and who gets stuck as Tweedledum & Tweedledee.

Take a cue from Snooki, Lady Gaga, and...

The countdown to the penultimate Harry Potter movie has begun, with this week's release of the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" (pt 1) trailer.

There was an unfortunate glimpse of the irritating Dobby (who, as grand luck would have it, is my son's favourite character), that ghastly Voldemort manicure, and plenty of snakes which I didn't appreciate, but everything else looks quite...

At least two cruises are planned for April 2012, retracing RMS Titanic's fateful journey and stopping at the final resting place of the doomed ocean liner in the wee hours of April 15.  Over 1500 people died after the ship collided with an iceberg in 1912.

Critics are denouncing it as nothing more than "disaster voyeurism" and disrespectful to Titanic's victims, survivors, and their...

Fashion Week in New York City mainly obeyed this maxim - if you can't decide between a Punchy Lip or an Expressive Eye, choose neither.  Nearly Nude looks were very popular this time, refusing to compete with the fashion.

Acne, Vera Wang, Nicole Farhi

Against the dominant white, the bare face was either striking or sickly.  A few designers played with sheer colours to keep things...
