Real flowers may be better for our figures, but this find from Fabulously Broke is just too delicious to pass up...

Totally not sponsored, I just think they're a cool way to send 'flowers' to someone who isn't really into flowers (like me).

Summertime is when we crave our favourite cold, creamy, sweet treat - ice cream. It’s a refreshing and delicious way to cool off in the sun. But instead of the standard Neapolitan double-scoop in a waffle cone this summer, why not try a unique and exciting, cultural twist on the old time favourite?

Mochi ice cream is a popular Japanese dessert made with rice starch and filled with...

Another good one, from Chez Pim...

The best thing about coming home from this trip--besides my kitty Ella, of course--is getting back in time for tiny Blenheim apricots. They are a specialty of the Bay Area, and their season is so short you blink and they go *poof*.

The Blenheims are an old-fashioned kind of apricot that are getting increasingly hard to find...

This biscotti recipe is perfect for dipping. Make a frothy cappuccino, sit on your patio and take a moment of me time. The recipe is from my sister, who is an incredible baker. It's easy and relatively quick. Here's what you'll need:

Mixing Bowl #1:
1 3/4 cup Flour

Here's something fresh to do on a Thursday night: The Kitchen on West Queen West serves free drinks to the Ladies every Thursday night from 9-11pm. Serious! Besides my intent to defy the weather, I was also inspired to do this by a discussion about Japanese cooking in a food forum I frequent...

This latest entry from Chez Pim has banished all thoughts of a quickie 5-lb diet crunch in favor of a sumptuous binge. Mmmmmm.......

Here in California strawberries are everywhere at the moment, so it's the perfect time for one of my favorite desserts, strawberry shortcake.

I made these for a garden lunch party with out of town friends last week. Because strawberry shortcakes are so...

Another fun read and delicious recipe from Chez Pim...

It's actually just a Gai Yang, or Thai grilled chicken. But it does look mildly obscene, don't you agree? The poor innocent chicken, stripped bare and spread out in a rather immodest position for all the world to see. It's also quite immoderately delicious, and inordinately easy to do.

Something new from Chez Pim...

Three simple ingredients that do amazing things to fruits: fresh chili, salt, and sugar, simply mixed together.

If you've been to Thailand, I'm sure you've seen this trilogy before. You get them in little paper packets with every piece of fruit you buy off one of those carts on the street....
