I have a review on Gel Nail Polishes by Essence. Essence Cosmetics as you know is a value beauty brand, with a wide collection of high-quality products at amazingly low prices. The Gel Nail Polish collection is like a re-launch of their previous nail polishes, which provide gel quality nails without a UV-lamp. The collection consists of 16 new colors, plus the base and top coat.
Their gel nail polishes are priced at $2.99. Essence’s nail polish brushes are different from other brushes. They are like flat paddle brushes, which allows for a streak free nail polish application. I had the opportunity to try out all 16 shades and base + top coat. I grouped the shades for easier colour reference. The Gel polishes do not have distinct names but are classified by a number.
All of their colours dry extremely fast which I love, as I wouldn’t use it often, if it had longer drying times. The base coat dries by the time you have finished applying a coat to both hands and they are ready for the gel colour. The top coat is applied over top.
The appearance and texture are very polished. The polish only started to wear between the 5th/6th day but I found it to last even longer if I took the time to apply the top coat a little past the edges of my nail (similar to how they apply the top coat when getting acrylic nails).
The top coat really does give it a gel shine, without the lengthy removal process. It wipes away with regular nail polish remover. The top and base coat are $4.49 each and they really do extend the durability of the nail polish.
You can browse their products at www.essence-cosmetics.com. If you’re in Canada, you can pick up their selection of products from Shoppers Drug Mart. Do give their products a try if you haven’t already! :)

I thought I’d share what I am using to pamper my skin, which is a Montagne Jeunesse Mask.
The cold, Winter weather has already taken a toll on my skin. I avoid oily moisturizers because of my skin type, which causes my skin to dry out throughout the day. I have found that using masks helps my skin to remain moisturized while removing flakey dry skin.
I previously tried out their Manuka Honey Peel Off Mask, which was a perfect match for my blemished skin. You simply apply the gel like mask on with your fingers or use a brush. I usually use any clean flat foundation brush brush I have, like the Estee Lauder one below.
Then after 20 minutes peel away. There is something very refreshing about peel off masks, as they feel like you’re peeling away a layer of dead skin. It left my face feeling nice and soft and prepped for a smooth makeup application later on. Plus they make for an easy cleanup, just remember to apply an even layer (not too thin), and it peels off almost in one piece. Their mud masks are also very refreshing, the cool mud helps to soothe inflamed skin.
Another mask which I tried out, is their Strawberry Souffle Mask, which is meant for those with dry skin. It contains Aloe Vera (good for a large number of things: inflammation, healing) as well as Vanilla.
Montagne Jeunesse carries over 50 masks. With their affordable price of $1.99 and some times even less, it makes it easier to try out different kinds or get multiple of your favourite flavour. The masques are quite fragrant so if you’re not big on fragrant face products like me, but would still like to try their masques. I would suggest picking up their most subtle scented masks, such as the Honey, Green Tea, Dead Sea Face Spa, Mud masks as well as many others.
Visit the Montagne Jeunesse website at www.my7thheaven.com to see their entire collection. You can also purchase Montagne Jeunesse Masks from FarleyCo, Walmart, London Drugs and many other retailers. :)

This is a thorough review on the Eye Polish Base and Top Coat by PUR Minerals. I tried out the Eye Polish shade Suede.
Looking at the packaging, I thought it was fairly large compared to any single eye shadow product I own and I could only imagine myself using up this much product if I absolutely loved the shade.
The Eye Polish was created to be a one stop product that preps, primes and polishes your eyes in one step. It is a metallic creamy/liquid product which after a minute of dry time, gives long lasting, non-transferring colour. Unlike other metallic shadows, this one had minimal fallout.
The Eye Polishes come packaged in a little pot with a screw on cap. The product is dispersed through a wet sponge like sheet. The Eye Polish can be used as an eye shadow base, so you can build your eye makeup look over top of it. Or by itself, as it is extremely pigmented.
See below for the swatches of the shade Suede (A bronze with a hint of golden micro-shimmer):
It has a dry time of a minute or so, which gives you time to build on other products and blend away. Each Eye Polish comes with a silicone applicator, which I was curious to use, since the product is a creamy, liquid consistency.
I have never used a silicone applicator for applying any form of makeup and I sort of expected it to wipe away the Eye Polish when I went in to apply more product. But surprisingly it allowed for a smoother application. Also since the product is liquid, I didn’t think it was buildable, but after giving it some dry time in between the first and next application, I found that you could build up the coverage but since the shade Suede is dark to begin with, it is hard to tell.
After 7 hours of wear, I did not find any creasing, which I was pleased with, which shows the primer portion of this product worked well.
The Eye Polishes are available in six shades and all have a metallic sheen to them. The Eye Polishes retail for $32.
You can purchase the Eye Polishes from www.purminerals.com or from ULTA Beauty stores. I hope you found this review helpful! :)

I have a review on the Epic Illusion Contour Kit by PUR Minerals. This past year there have been countless releases of contour and highlight palettes of all price ranges. Making it difficult to find the one that works best for you. I usually lean towards individual products for blush, contour and highlight but the Epic Illusion Contour Kit has definitely proven to be a great match for my skin tone!!!
PUR Minerals is a leading anti-aging skincare and cosmetics brand. They are known to have a collection of makeup that not only looks good but is good for your skin.
Sleek white and silver casing, which is different from all of the palettes packaged in black lately.
The back of the packaging shows all the shades which are pretty true to their picture.
The palette consists of 6 shades (2 blushes, 2 bronzers, 2 highlighters)
Blushes are in the shades Bluff & Mauvelous
Bronzers are in the shades Fabile & Fiction.
Highlighters are in the shades Unreal & Legendary
I have medium tanned skin (NC37 in MAC Fluid Foundation, 220/225 in Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, although I usually mix my foundations to match perfectly). I used the bronzer over top of my contour (L.A. Girl Pro Concealer in Beautiful Bronze and it blended really well without looking muddy. Another reason why I liked the bronzer shades in this palette, is that with my skin tone, some shades in other contour palettes cause my skin to look orange.
The blush is buildable and suits both fair and darker skin tones. I always look for mauve shades when choosing a blush and I was happy to see it in this palette. The highlighters are my absolute favourite, they aren’t over the top with the shimmer but again can be built up to your liking. The Epic Illusions Contour palette consists of a mix of satin and pearl finish shades.
I love the palette for its compact size. It makes for the perfect palette to travel with. It takes as much room as two full sized compacts. Although the pans aren’t very large and you most likely would not use your big blush brush with it, the pigment and shades make up for it.
The shades also do double duty as eye shadows. They are quite pigmented and are velvety smooth to the touch. The bronzers make great crease colours and the highlighters are great for under your brows and to brighten the inner corner of your eyes.
The PUR Epic Illusion Contour Kit retails for $32 and I would definitely recommend it. The shades work for fair to dark skin tones and the intensity can be built up or down making it popular amongst a wider range of ages.
I hope you found this review helpful! You can purchase this palette from www,purminerals.com or Ulta Beauty stores nationwide. :)

A New Year calls for a new eye liner. Hence, why I wanted to share the Stila Got Inked Cushion Eye Liner with you. These cushion eye liners came out in September, of last year. The shade I tried out is Black Obsidian. The cushion liners are available in 6 different shades, consisting of flat and shimmery finishes. They are quite similar to their Stay All Day Liquid Liners, which is an amazing felt tip liner that dried extremely fast and lasts all day. The Got Inked Cushion eye liner is best described as ink; liquid, bold and stays put unless removed with makeup remover. It does not budge, transfer, fade or flake which I absolutely LOVE! Just see below for the strokes you can create with any eye liner brush and the buildable intensity of the eye liner. The cushion eye liner is buildable, it can be applied lightly or built up into a bold cat eye. The formula is extremely pigmented and lasts all day and night. I normally have problems with liquid liners as they tend to flake as the day goes by, which is why I had started using gel pot eye liners. I absolutely love this product for how easy it is to apply. I usually tug on my eyelid when applying eye liner but with this cushion liner I can create a smooth line with one hand because of its fluid consistency. It is recommended that the Got Inked Cushion Eye Liner be used with the La Quill Precision Eye Liner Brush. This brush is best described as a calligraphy pen, it allows you to apply the product effortlessly in a fluid motion. But if you already have an eye liner brush you love then you can use it just as well to soak up the product from the cushion sponge.
The other shades besides Black Obsidian Ink are Amethyst Ink, Smoky Quartz Ink, Copper Ink, Blue Sapphire Ink and Garnet Ink.
Seeing how the cushion eye liner looks before it dries, it can definitely double as an eye shadow base. The other shades would be absolutely gorgeous as a base!image
The Stila Got Inked Cushion Eye Liner can be purchased from Shoppers Drug Mart, Murale/Murale.ca and Sephora. It retails for $36.
I absolutely love this cushion liner!
