I got one of these from the One of a Kind Show in Toronto. I bought a gift set of a body wash and lotion, and the founder, Stacey Davis who was at the booth gave me the sugar scrub to try. She said it's their top seller and I can see why. I have been using it regularly in the shower for the past two months and I love it. I have tried many body scrubs and there are many that I like, but this one does it all. It exfoliates and moisturizes long after you leave the shower. There is shea butter in the scrub so you will notice that it is still on your skin after you rinse the sugar off. My legs get dry in the winter so I really appreciate that.
I love the subtle scent of the Vanilla and the texture of the product. It reminds me of sugary marshmallows if that makes any sense. All of LOVEFRESH's products are all natural so I never have to think twice about what I'm putting on my skin. This makes a great gift for someone or something to pamper yourself with. I would buy this again.

This is a new little chocolate shop that opened up on Jane near Annette. They make an assortment of handmade chocolates and ice cream, but what really gets me is their hot chocolate, which is TO DIE FOR. It's hands down the best hot chocolate I've ever tasted. I like it so much I've been there a shameful number of times since discovering it, it's that good. They also have a spicy version and a dairy free one, which is made with coconut cream and almond milk.
It is a small shop and there is only seating for about 4 people but most of their customers buy chocolate and leave. I highly recommend you check it out if you are in the area.

Nicole and I were invited here to try some complimentary services by the owner and they generously opened on a Monday for us. I was booked for a cut and highlights but only ended up getting the highlights because that took 4 hours and I had to leave.
The space is beautiful. It's tucked inside the courtyard so you would never know about it from the street. Because of that most of their business is word of mouth and recommendations from review sites. I did look up the reviews before coming and they were all quite positive.
My experience had lots of positives, with a few draw backs. The consultation took a very long time. I believe it was because they really wanted to get my colour exactly right, but it is part of the reason my appointment took 4 hours. The staff is really warm and friendly but a few comments were made during my consultation and Nicole's that would have been better left unsaid. They said that parts of my colour looked "cheap". They told Nicole that they could tell the instant she walked in the door that her colour was a home-job.
They were very concerned to get rid of the brassy colour in my hair and discussed in depth about a plan that would involve lots of cool toned highlights and a cool base that would allow me to go longer between salon visits. My hair grows very fast, there is a lot of it, and I have a fair bit of premature grey thanks to genetics. Going longer than 4-5 weeks between visits is really important to me.
At the end, as my stylist was taking out the foils she told me there had been a change of plan and they did not go with the cool tones we discussed. We had also talked about lightening the sides of my hair so that when I put my hair up, the colour difference won't be so obvious, but that part looks mostly brown. I'm not sure what the reason was for the change of plan.
The highlights turned out to be really nicely blended, but my root colour looked very similar to the darker colour I had coming in (minus the grey). They applied a semi-permanent to my roots so it will wash out over the next few weeks. The rationale was that they greys will blend better with all of the new blonde highlights. I won't really be able to comment on that until that happens. I'm now just over a week since my visit. The cost of what I had done (though they didn't charge me) was more than what I normally pay.
While I was getting my hair done I was able to observe John (the owner) cutting hair. It is obvious he is very dedicated to his craft. He was meticulous and spent a long time getting both men's cuts just right. It is a shame I couldn't stay longer to experience one of his haircuts, but I would definitely recommend a man go based on what I saw.
I'm pretty loyal to where I go now. The only time I stray from my regular salon is when I'm in a pinch and book something in my neighborhood same day. For that reason this probably won't become my regular salon, but I'm glad I got the chance to try it!

This adorable ebook for iPad is really fun and interactive. The British voice narrating and voicing the characters is highly enjoyable to listen to. There is a lot to click on and move with this book, which is the 3rd for Ink Robin. My toddler LOVES this. He loves clicking on the characters and hearing their voices and seeing them move. There are also some musical moments, and my son likes to bobble his head to the tune. He especially likes the page with the monkeys running the concession stand, eating the popcorn and throwing cotton candy.
The founders of InkRobin are friends of mine, but I wouldn't add a review here unless I loved it. It is $4 to download the book, which is well worth it.

These puppies aren't cheap, but they sure are good looking. And most importantly, smart. If you aren't one of those people who loves to dive into an instruction manual to learn how to properly program your thermostat (who are those people??), Nest is for you.
It remembers what temperature you like at what time of the day after about a week. You don't have to do anything but adjust it as you normally would and then it tells you it has learned your preferences and it's all automatic after that. You can also set comfort ranges by telling it not to go any higher than 22 degrees and no lower than 20. It will automatically switch between air conditioning and heat to adjust to your settings. It also senses when you are around so if there is no movement for a certain period of time, it sets itself to away and automatically lowers the temperature.
My favourite part is that you can download an app for your smartphone where you can remotely adjust the temperature. So if you are on your way back from a weekend getaway and you know the house will be cold since it's set to away, you can warm it up before your arrival. I also use that a lot when I'm lying in bed and hot or cold and don't want to go all the way downstairs to adjust the temperature.
I'm not sure it's saved us any money yet. It has been a year but our energy consumption has been roughly the same. It certainly has been much more convenient and for that reason I highly recommend it.

I love the facial oils that come from this company. If you are a fan of Pure Simple spas or their products, this is the same stuff. I use this as a moisturizer and it's perfect for colder drier weather. The oil soaks quickly into my skin and after a few minutes I don't even notice it. This product is designed to help treat rosacea. I do get that, but not on my face. The only thing is I would suggest waiting a good 10 minutes before applying eye makeup as face oils do take longer to absorb and the makeup could smudge. This isn't cheap at $57, but it is a great quality product. I got mine compliments of the brand. -

This dishwasher detergent is amazing. I have tried so many different products and even though I have a good quality new dishwasher, many of them are sorely lacking. I don't like to pre-wash my dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. Kind of defeats the purpose.
With these it doesn't matter how much junk is on them, it's pretty much guaranteed to come off. In the month or so I've been testing these, they have quickly become my favourite. This came into the office for testing so I received it for free. They are slightly more expensive than what I was using in the past but I think it's worth it.
