After sun products are essential for me in the summer since I always end up getting burned despite my best efforts. I burned my chest so badly when I was younger that it blistered and ever since then, just a few minutes of sun exposure and I have a guaranteed burn. What I love about this product is that it can be used for face and body, it's extremely moisturizing and the scent is subtle. It doesn't have a greasy feel to it either, which is really important for someone like me with oily skin.
I received this product from Biotherm PR.

Ridiculously good ice cream. I was here for the first time this week and had one of the best chocolate ice cream cones I've ever had. The ice cream is premium quality and deliciously creamy. The single scoop is quite generous. You have to lick quickly to get it all before it melts!
For the quality of ice cream and the quantity in each scoop, I think the prices are worth it.
Owner Luc is also a really nice guy and the service is fantastic. This was much needed on the King W strip and I'm thrilled it's so close to my office!

Oh, Toleriane Ultra, I think I love you.
My husband brought this back from a business trip to Montreal where the most darling marketing exec ended their meeting by setting him up with an awesome skincare regimen from Biotherm for himself and this moisturizer for me.
I've been using it for a week and my skin just drinks it up. I have combination, sensitive skin so I often have shine on my forehead and easily get hives, rashes or blocked pores from products that are too rich or have too many chemical ingredients.
This product has minimal ingredients and is designed especially for sensitive, hypersensitive or allergic skin. There are no preservatives, parabens, fragrances, alcohol, colourants or lanolin. The packaging has a 100% airtight hermetic seal to prevent bacteria from sneaking in and contaminating it and the pouch the formula is in is vacuum packed so you can use every single drop.
My skin looks balanced and feels well hydrated. I only have to use 2 pumps in the morning and evening after washing my face.
The only draw back is the lack of clarity on the packaging. It doesn't actually say "facial moisturizer" anywhere on the package so if you're not already familiar with La Roche-Posay products you may find that a bit confusing when looking at it in the store.
I have 3 moisturizers going at the moment - all from different brands, but this is the one I prefer right now. I love that I don't have to stick my fingers in it and how my skin feels after using it.
Highly recommended.

Let me start by saying I have never been a fan of Hello Kitty. Mostly because I'm an adult and I think their products are childish looking. But I'm eating my words today because I tried this palette and it's... kind of amazing!
Sephora sent over a few of their summer must-haves to our office recently, which included this. I had no idea Hello Kitty makeup would be such nice quality or have such nice colours.
This palette is perfect for someone with light eyes and pale skin. The browns of the eyeshadows included really bring out blue eyes and the two blushes are just gorgeous. There is one warm peachy shade and one cooler pink shade.
The compact itself is quite sturdy so you don't have to worry about the makeup shattering or crumbling. As for application, all colours are richly pigmented and come on very smoothly without too much residue under the eyes. The compact itself is cute if I dare say so. I don't think I'd be embarrassed whipping this out in public.
I think $35 for the quality and convenience of this compact is well worth it. I never thought I'd say this but I would purchase this Hello Kitty product again.

For a $6 lipstick, this totally rocks my world. We've had a few shades kicking around the office from our friends at Joe Fresh PR for the last few months but I only recently tried it for my sister in law's wedding. I wore it in Watermelon. I'm so impressed with it. Not only is the shade the most gorgeous perfect shade of orangey-red, it has fantastic lasting power and doesn't bleed. There is enough moisture in it that my lips don't dry out and I don't need to put anything on top of it. Of course with a shade that bold, it's essential to pair it with lip liner.
I have a few bold red lipsticks in brands ranging from the $10 range - $35 a lipstick and I've got to be honest. This formula kicks all of their butts. Of course luxury brand packaging is more exciting but in the end it's all about the product, right? Mega thumbs up for this one!

This is a men's cologne that my husband has recently started wearing. It smells soooo good! The fragrance is described as a "woody oriental" and contains notes of Italian Bergamot Orange, Resin of Myrrh of Somalia, Indonesian Leaves of Patchouli, and Vanilla from Madagascar.
Overall, it's a sexy musky scent that isn't too heavy. I don't like men's colognes (or women's perfumes) that are too "fresh" or fruity. This is the kind of sexy mellow cologne that I can't imagine anyone not liking once they get a whiff.
*Please note this fragrance was sent to us from Prada's pr but I only let my husband wear stuff that I think is sexy - and lucky for me, he willingly complies!

Sometimes the critics on Rotten Tomatoes are right. Usually I think they are unhappy curmudgeons (since they seem to hate everything), but every now and then they are bang on. This is one of those cases.
I watched this last over the weekend despite the 18% rating on Rotten Tomatoes because some friends said it was really, really funny. I am not a big Adam Sandler fan but I usually enjoy Jennifer Aniston, particularly in The Switch. Unfortunately there were many things wrong with this movie:
* The love interest, Brooklyn Decker was just awful. It was clearly a case of casting her for her flawless beauty, but the acting was just terrible.
* The jokes weren't funny. I love to laugh and I do pretty easily but I hardly laughed with this. It was just... bad.
* The whole plain jane getting a makeover and becoming beautiful is SO overdone.
* The overall concept of the story was just too far-fetched. The idea that a man would spend that much money and effort trying to impress someone he met (and slept with) on the first date was just over the top. It was implausible.
What was good about it were the performances of the kids. Bailee Madison and Griffin Gluck were fantastic. They stole every scene they were in.
I think this could have been a lot better if it wasn't so far-fetched and all main characters could act.

I'm really impressed with this store. It basically has everything you could possibly need for your baby including some pregnancy items, strollers, car seats, cribs, breast pumps, etc. Of course it also has some cute baby clothes but the focus is the other items you'll need for baby.
I purchased an Uppa Baby stroller from here and I was really impressed with the customer service, including carrying the box and loading it into the car for me.
The prices are pretty much in line with what you'd find at other stores. I'm sure there are some items you can get cheaper, but they also had some things on sale.
In terms of merchandise, they carry all levels. It's not just the high end stuff. For example for strollers they carry everything from Graco to Bobs, Peg Perego, Uppa Baby, Bugaboo and more.
I'd recommend coming here as one of your first stops when you're expecting or have small children.

I've passed this cute cafe in the Junction many times but stopped by this morning for the first time for an Americano and muffin. The space is beautiful. It's airy and open with comfortable seating nooks. Baristas serve up Intelligista and Black Cat coffee, which are two of my favourites. The pastries are quite good. I suspect they are using the same bakery as Dark Horse Espresso since the pumpkin muffin I had this morning was exactly the same. I could see myself coming by here often.
There are only 2 drawbacks that I've noticed so far:
The prices are fairly expensive. An 8 oz Americano is $3. Keep in mind that an Americano is one shot of espresso and some water. Most Americanos from similar coffee shops are under $3. They also carry panninis, which are reasonably priced at $7.99.
It would be impossible to get in here with a wheelchair or stroller as there are large steps leading up to the door and no ramp. It's funny how I notice these things now that I'm always on the lookout for where I can bring my baby.
Aside from that, I definitely recommend it and I'll be back.

The rooftop patio at the Spoke Club is in my opinion one of the best patios in the city. It is a private members club, but if you are invited by a member or are there for an event you can experience it like a normal restaurant. I've only been on this patio a few times but each time I just love it! It's a gorgeous airy space with beautiful views of the city. If I was a member there I'd probably want to work from that patio as much as possible!
It's in the trendy King West area, but the club itself is unpretentious and the food reasonably priced. Expect to pay about $15 for an entree on the patio.
