I was a little nervous about going to the Aveda Institute for a hair cut but I'm now a student on a budget and it's hard to beat a $15 haircut. I was assured that the students are well-supervised and I didn't want much more than a trim so I decided to chance it.
I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. It took a long time but the student double-checked every move with an instructor before taking scissors to my hair. She did a fantastic job and I've been back since. I was very pleased!
I do have to say that it's not as relaxing as I would like my hair cutting experience to be - you're in a huge room with potentially a hundred other people so it's loud and busy. But for what I paid, I can live with that!

Toast Wine Bar and Cafe is a cute little place hidden in the Warehouse District. It's warm and welcoming. The owner and her husband have put together a fantastic wine list, offering reasonably-priced glasses as well as a wide range of full bottles. The menu offers a number of small plates, salads, crostini and pizzas. They also offer a variety of cheeses and desserts. My favorite is the polenta with spinach and sauteed mushrooms! Definitely a place to try! -

The chef at The Sample Room in Minneapolis knows what to do with a scallop.
The Sample Room has both small plates and larger dishes. While they are, in my opinion, a bit expensive, the food is definitely above average. My favorite is the scallop with sun-dried tomato pesto. The chef does change the menu seasonally.
The service, however, can sometimes be very slow. The restaurant itself is tiny, meaning a wait is likely, but I have actually walked out after standing in the doorway without being acknowledged for five minutes. If you don't have to wait this restaurant is well-worth trying. I recommend going early in the evening!

Punch Pizza makes fantastic wood-oven pizza. It cooks in a wood-fired oven - 800 degrees for 90 seconds. You wouldn't think they could make such a fantastic pizza in so little time! The crust is fantastic, crispy and chewy at the same time and they have a huge variety of toppings. It can get busy but you never have to wait long for your pizza!
Just make sure you choose to eat in - it's best hot and fresh!
