Upon the first reading, I enjoyed the book. I thought it was decent, but nothing incredibly gripping or particularly well-written, but it was entertaining. The ending however, I have to admit, was acceptable to me solely because I knew there were other books to follow it. It is the best book of the series, and could get you hooked to read the rest, but they don't hold up to the first one.
It has a fun quality to it, and there is a bit of interest in switching up standard vampire lore in fiction, which is at least original.
All in all, I would say that it might be worth checking out, but don't set your hopes too high, particularly if you're out of your teens.
