I went for new hair cut a little while ago at The Cut Above in Thornhill. They have a few other locations in and around Toronto.
I have getting my hair cut with layers for the longest time I could remember. I need layers because my hair texture is heavy and straight, so the layers help to get a little bit of volume in it.
The woman who cut and styled my hair did a fantastic job. All the layers are pretty even and perfect. When I don’t have the time to style my hair, it still looks quite nice. She also trimmed my bangs, and I never regret getting them! I also liked that she took a lot of time in styling it. When booking a hair appointment, you must ask for Jessica. She is amazing at what she does, and really sweet and nice!
It is now probably 1.5 months since I have been there, and the cut still looks good. All the layers are growing in nice and even.
In total it had cost around $55 (including tax and tip). It was well worth it. They also do other salon services, but I haven’t tried them yet. Though I know I'll be going back there the next time I need a haircut!

MAC Prep and Prime Protect SPF 50 is a great primer if you are looking for a primer and a sunscreen all in one. It makes my pores look smaller and my makeup lasts all day. It is also good for keeping the shine down. I find now that when I do not use it, my face looks too shiny by midday.
I learned that the trick is not to use too much, otherwise it will not absorb well. What I do is dab little dots on it on certain points of my face and then blend it in. Add more if needed.
I think next time I might try a different primer, just so I can compare quality. I would say that the overall the product is quite effective.

Ladies.... I think I've found a new love.
Make Up for Ever Aqua Eyes. Greatest. eyeliner. ever! I have the one in Pearly Brown 2L.
It does not fade, budge, or run underneath your eyes. It is completely waterproof, until you remove it with eye make up remover. The trick is that you have to wait for a few seconds to let it set. Once it's on, it's on for good! I seriously think that it is the perfect eyeliner for those who have teary eyes or .... to wear to a wedding or a funeral. It won't smudge at all. Try it yourself!
The only thing that I am a little bit uncertain about is that it appears to need sharpening quite often. It's not a very "hard" tip, but yet... so worth it!
I know $18 is really expensive for an eyeliner, but I am so pleased with the results. I will definitely buy this again.

My experience at Terroni on Queen was really not a pleasant one. How great the food is is really dependent on what you order. A couple of people at the table ordered gnocchi, and it was a really really small portion for a high price - $15.95. I ordered a salad, and it really did not meet my expectations. It was something that I could have easily made at home with some tuna, kidney beans and lettuce.
What bothered me as well was when someone had asked if we could pay separate bills, the lady rolled her eyes and said... "I will not make separate bills for 15 people at the table!" That, I could understand would be somewhat inconvenient. But there were only 10 of us at the table.
The entire night the wait staff gave us the impression that we were not wanted there. They kept on rushing us and trying to get us out. I could tell that they were annoyed, because we took longer than they had expected us to be there.
Needless to say, I will not be coming back here again. I think there are plenty of other Italian restaurants that provide better service and food. I suggest that you do not waste your time and money here.

I have oily skin and so powders usually work well for me.
But I found that when I used it alone with just a little bit of concealer, my face was shiny by the afternoon! For this reason I am not sure whether or not I would buy it again.
It does work really well with the Maybelline Powder Foundation though, I was really pleased with that. I agree with other reviewers that the sponge that it comes with deposits too much product. I also used the foundation brush to dust on the mineral veil.
The package is quite nice. Small and light-weight, the lid slides off one side and there's a mirror underneath. I wish that more powder packaging was designed this way!

I like how it's a light concealer, I forget that I am wearing it! But what I really didn't like was the fact that it was too light, and like others said it had made some areas of my face (esp under the eyes) look a little bit gray. I found that layering that area over top with some foundation fixed the problem.
I guess I can say that it brightens up your face pretty well. I also like that there was no weird smell to the product, which I often find that I get with many concealers. Oh and remember: a little bit goes a long way!

I normally use Bare Essentials, but my biggest issue with that is for one the container was too small to fit the brush (so I would make a mess everywhere) and second it would make me shiny, which was really annoying.
The Maybelline Powder left my face smooth and shine free the entire day. Best of all it didn't make me shiny. The container is also large enough to fit the brush, which is good... also large enough so that I can swirl the powder in the cap.
I have this in Nude. It matches my skin tone pretty well.
The only thing that I didn't like was the brush applicator, it was way too stiff and rough on my face. Instead I used my B.E. powder foundation brush, and it gave me a wonderful smooth application.

I am a huge fan of blush. I find that one sweep of colour wakes my entire face up!
With that being said, I was afraid to stray away from my Nars Blush, which I love so dearly... though I really wanted to try a mineral brand.
I have the Mineral Powder Blush in Fresh Plum - I was trying to stay away from my usual pink! And I must say, I was really impressed. It gave my cheeks a deeper, darker shade of colour which had complemented my skin tone. I find with this shade in particular, you only need a small amount, otherwise it might have been too dark!
What I liked about it as well was that it had lasted all day.
The only con about mineral powder blushes is that the brush can pick up too much colour at once and deposit it all on one section of your cheek! To combat this, I tap it back into the container, and then dust it on a tissue or the back of my hand.
I definitely recommend this blush. It's pretty affordable too!

There has been much controversy about juice bars lately. A Booster Juice opened up on my campus the other day and is being promoted as a healthy alternative to campus food. Personally I am skeptical about Booster Juice. Here is why:
The boosters in the juices are marketed as health products. But there is no evidence that they necessarily have any health benefits. Even if they did, taking it once in a drink is not enough to benefit your overall health. It would have to be taken periodically (like a multivitamin) to give you any of the health benefits.
One large container of juice is approximately maybe 5 servings of fruit at once. We know how much a serving of juice is. According to Canada's Food Guide (it's 1/2 a cup - 125 ml). Here you are taking in many more servings of fruit... all in at once! Which ideally you want to spread out your fruit intake for the day.
Many of the drinks unknowingly to most people have 400-500 calories, which is enough for a meal! And most of what is in the drink is fruit, boosters of some sort and possibly yogurt. This is not sufficient to replace a meal, ideally you should try to get 3-4 servings of food groups in each meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner).
I think Booster Juice has potential, but it confuses people as to what healthy is. I just don't get the juice industry: Wouldn't you rather drink water and eat fruit - pure and unprocessed? That is better for you as a snack and not worth 1/4 of your day's worth of calories. That could be saved for real food!
I'm not saying Booster Juice is bad at all. But there is a reason why it is called Booster Juice, they are meant for when you are active and need a quick fix, energy or a protein shake after a workout. I'll admit that if I ever was in a rush on a busy active day, I just might consider getting one. If you are inactive and drinking it as a snack, then you are just over consuming liquid calories! And not all of the boosters are meant for everyone, you have to be careful about what you put into your drink!
Just remember, water is the best thing you can put in your body!

The only thing that I think would make it more effective is if it lasted longer. I find that you have to reapply it very often because it goes on a little thin. In all honestly I do prefer Burt Bee's Lip Balm better (except for the fact that it does not contain a sunscreen).
Great lip balm overall, I think it's better than most out there in drug stores.
