I was very excited to try these the first time I saw them. I have very thick and quite long hair. I'm always putting my hair up in buns using elastics because bobby pins were WAY too much work and they always ended up getting stretched anyway. I also needed like 80-100 to even keep an updo in place.
I find these pins work great! I really do believe that they have the strength of 20 bobby pins. I don't mind the cost considering how well they work. They're about $6-7 but a pack of decent bobby pins (that you'll need to replace right away anyway if you try to do an updo with them) is the same price.
One thing I found I had to do was use 4 spin pins. I have too much hair and 2 just does not do it. Sometimes stray strands come out but I just pin those into the middle of the bun with regular bobby pins. But I think the more practice you have getting it right, the less you'd have to do this. I don't do the "spin" bun, I just scrunch my hair and screw them in there. They can work for a variety of styles! They also work better if I curl the ends of my hair first with a curling iron. My hair just cooperates a little bit more!
They also make your hair a little curly/wavy when you take them out so I'm sure if you used them after a shower you'd have great body and curls.
There is kind of a learning curve with these pins! It took me about 3-4 tries to figure out what works for my hair and what does not and I am still finding ways to perfect it as I go. But once you figure it out, it's easy and quick! Not to mention looks great.
All in all, I love Spin Pins because I can finally do a lovely updo for nights out, formals, weddings, etc with very little time and effort. I use them at least a couple times a week!

I picked up some Joe Fresh Tinted Lip Balm on the weekend in coral and blush. I'd say overall, it was decent. I'm not always a fan of lipstick because it feels cakey sometimes so I like to stick with tinted lip balms. This was right up my alley! The colours were great and they also kept my lips coloured and moisturized. I think it's great for every day use or when you don't want to over do it. I would recommend this if you're looking for something simple without paying too much. It's the same price as most other drugstore lipsticks but has the added benefit of moisture. I'd buy it again! -

I just bought Joe Fresh Lip Stain in tangerine a few days ago and I love it! I was so excited to try it so I put it on before some company came over on Saturday night and it lasted the whole night. The colour was great! I put some lip balm over top of the stain and it kept my lips looking soft and moisturized. I also bought grapefruit so I'm looking forward to trying that colour too! Would definitely buy again! -

Love this place! I go to Carolyn and she always does a fantastic job. It's a little pricey, but totally worth the money. Plus, she'll do your highlight/lowlights in a way that require low maintenance so it's not necessary to go back every 6-8 weeks for a touch up. She's the only stylist that has ever had me leave the salon 100% happy with what was done. I will never go to anyone else! All the stylists and staff members are super friendly and very talented but she is my favorite. DEFINITELY recommend! -

I started using this product in an attempt to tame my dry hair and make it more manageable. Even after a deep conditioning my hair felt dry, brittle and got tangled so easy. I bought this for $18 at Chatters and LOVE it! It's just like an intense leave-in conditioner. It doesn't feel like anything when you first put it in wet hair but once your hair is dry, you can feel a huge difference! I found my hair softer, smoother and had no fly-aways. Make sure you put it in when your hair is still wet because otherwise it makes your hair feel matte and gross. Definitely recommend! $18 might seem pricey to some of you, but it's worth it. You only need a small amount as well so the bottle lasts a long time! -

My girl friend took me and another friend here the day of her wedding social to get our nails done. This place is on the corner of Portage and Cavalier in Winnipeg. The service was ok. The staff wasn't particularly friendly but did their job. It was so quiet in there though that it was almost awkward! I got a french manicure done that was already almost completely chipped off by the end of the evening (she didn't even put a top coat on me!). My friend got a pink polish painted on. But the fellow doing her nails didn't extend the polish to the very end of the nail so we left with what looked like already partially grown out nails! I forget why, but he wouldn't fix it. Anyway, we only paid about $20/person which is average but not worth the quality we got. Best part of it was spending time with friends! :) -

My hair is so thick and gets frizzy very easily. For this reason, I need a good serum. I decided to try Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Anti-Frizz Serum because I saw it on the shelf for cheap and had heard good things about it. It definitely lived up! You really only need 1-2 pumps for it to be effective and it immediately leaves your hair looking smoother, softer, and shinier. AND it smells great! I use it right after the shower and first thing in the morning to smooth things down before going out. The only thing to watch out for is it's a serum, so if you use to much it can make your hair feel pretty gross. I usually just stick with applying it to the ends, which is where I need it anyway. It's a great product for a great price! -

I bought this lotion for a trip to the Caribbean. I wanted to make sure I could keep moisturized while there to keep my tan in check. All in all, it worked alright although I think something like Aveeno would have been more moisturizing and more effective. It does smell nice but I found it didn't have a sheer or creamy feeling, more like a caked on feeling which could be from the specks of gold in it. One thing about it too as you have to rub it in very well or you get gold smears all over! All in all, it was ok but nothing to write home about it especially for paying $8 for a teeny bottle. I do love Hawaiian Tropic products just not this one. Next time, I'll just take my Aveeno or try the Lime Coolada After Sun Moisturizer! -

I was actually NOT a fan of this sunscreen at all. Normally, I love Hawaiian Tropic and I still do but this product I am not crazy about. We took it with us on a trip to Jamaica (spf 50). It did manage to keep us (somewhat) non-sun burnt but only if we reapplied quite often (and we still got burnt on our backs) as we found it washed off almost completely in the water. On the bottle it says only "water resistant". It didn't really smell that great compared to other Hawaiian Tropic sunscreens either. Next time I'll just get the regular stuff. -
