I bought this at a school book sale when I was a kid and I read it a million times growing up. It's a beautifully written coming-of-age story by Judy Blume that helps young girls deal with their changing bodies, hormones, and friendships in an eloquent way. I'm pretty sure I still have my copy of it, though I haven't read it in years. But it was a comforting book that I adored. A timeless piece! -

Feehan is one of those authors that barely changes the names and storylines, fills it with sex, and then people flock to buy it. She has talent but I find she wastes it. -

The Harry Potter series defined my childhood. I grew up with these books and it is clear that JK Rowling knew her audience was growing up as well, since the issues her characters face and the style of her writing changes. Her work matures beautifully and her story grows increasingly complex in this installment of the HP series. Beautiful crafted, heartbreaking at times, and a tremendous story of friendship and perseverance. -

And while her novel, Lara, contains all four of those things, I would hesitate to use the word 'great'. I honestly read about half of the book before stopping. I think it was just a long, grudging read. Nothing good happened to her and after awhile it was just...repetitive. Not one of her finer works. -

Bertrice Small has an interesting writing style. It's 1 part smut, 1 part action, 1 part awesome. She writes my favourite "historical" fiction, although I use the term historical rather loosely. A Dangerous Love is a good book where things keep going horribly for the main character. But the main character, like the females in all of Small's books, is incredibly badass and faces the challenges thrown at her. I love Small's writing because there is actually plot to her books, rather just smut. Romance, action, adventure, Highlanders...love it! Although her cover art could use a little work. -
