I have always loved MEC products, in particular their bags (camping, shoulder, backpacks, etc). Their material is durable and they have a life time warranty. I bought this particular travel bag (in blue) when I went to Italy. I've been warned by many peoples about the pickpockets there and I wanted a bag with secured compartments while allowing me easy access to other less important items. This travel bag was perfect!!
This bag has various sizes of compartments, most of them can be secured closed with a zipper. The main compartment has a double zipper which you can close to the middle and pull the outer flap over it and then fasten the buckle to secure the flap. Believe me, with this system, no pickpocket is getting into my bag. It also has 2 external compartment (front with zipper and back without zipper) for easy access. The strap is adjustable with a comfortable shoulder pad.
For $15, this was a great purchase, esp. for traveling. It's great to have even for lugging it around town, running errands. I love it!!

I only use 2 brands of lip balm: Softlips and Labello (either the dark blue original or the hydrocare). Softlips are great but they are expensive. Labellos, however, are super moisterizing without feeling greasy and they make my lips feel smoothy and silky. I found of all the lip balm I've tried, Labello is the only lip balm that moisterizes throughout the night (ie. I apply it before going to sleep and my lips still feel smooth when I wake up in the morning). The best thing is, Labello is cheap!!
The title of this review is specifically for Labello Hydrocare. I found the original dark blue one also works extremely well. However, I did not like the other "flavoured" labello, eg. cherry, strawberry, sunscreen (yellow). I found those lip balm very disappointing b/c they are not very moisterizing and they feel very waxy.

I absolutely loved this book. It took me a little while to get with the flow of the book because of all the jumping of time periods. But once I got into it, I couldn't put it down. It tells an amazing love story between Clare and Henry and you get really drawn into the characters world. I highly recommend this book: buy it, don't borrow it. It is that good!!
By the way, the movie is already in production. Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana will be playing the leads.

I love this lip gloss from the Body Shop. I bought the Mauve Dream and it looks wonderful. It is nice and shiny but not too sticky. I found it really helps lock in the moisture on the lips so I never feel dry. The colour is subtle and not overpowering. It gives my lips a beautiful, soft but sexy look. It is also scented with their passion fruit fragrant; I love the passion fruit scent, so I am really enjoying the lip gloss. However, if you don't like scented lipsticks or the passion fruit, I don't recommend this lip gloss because the scent is pretty strong. -

This store is located in the heart of the Byward Market on William St. It is a very cute store and it has a great selection of jewelry, purses, hair accessories, etc. The prices are ok and I don't think I have ever seen a sale in there. But it is my favourite place to shop for purses. You are not really paying any less than what you would pay in a mall but their purses are unique and you will never find the same one in any of the malls. I own 2 large handbags from there and I've gotten wonderful compliments for both of them. Whenever I want to buy a new purse, Minx Stream is the first place I go! -
I like checking out this store. They have a good selection of accessories but I find them a little pricey for their style and quality. However, they are a great place to shop when they have sales!

I bought this because it was cheap. It smells good and the gloss is nice but the gloss doesn't really stay. I had to re-apply very often which is ok when I'm out doing personal things, but not so great for work. Another reason I bought this was b/c I saw a red clear jelly gloss from another company that I really liked but I didn't want to pay that much for something I'm not even sure I'd like. So I bought a similar shade from Rimmel, wore it for a little while and ended up not liking the colour at all. So, this was a nice cheap colour tester. :P -

I've gone through several tubes of this Revlon stuff. I love the way it feels (not too sticky) and it has enough colour that I don't need to wear lipstick underneath (depending on your shade preference, of course). I don't think it's expensive considering you have to pay double (or more) the price for other brands. Also, Shoppers always have stuff on sale, so I stock up whenever they go on sale. I do highly recommend trying this lipgloss.
My mom never used to wear lipgloss. I gave her a tube of this and she loved it. Now she won't leave home without it!!

The synopsis of this book promised a fun and exciting chicklit and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I was, however, rather disappointed when I've gotten through the first few chapters and the book did not appear to live up to my expectations.
McCormack was very funny and very witty. I enjoyed all the quirky little comments embedded throughout the novel. Unfortunately, that was about the only thing I liked about it.
First thing I noticed about the book was that there really wasn't anything interesting that happened. We knew the friendship was doomed because it said so on the back cover, so I was expecting to feel the tension building up with each chapter. But the tension never happened. The girls never really fought until the end, even the fight between Bess and Marcus was shortlived (and the only had one spat). There was nothing to carry me from one chapter to the next.
Although McCormack had devoted a lot of effort in character development by providing the readers ample details on Bess and Maxi's personalities and their friendship, I found her characters and their relationships with each other lacked substance. It was as if I was looking watching their lives through a glass window. None of the characters were able to grab my senses and draw me into the book. It almost felt like McCormack was trying to write a book about an ordinary girl that everyone can relate to but she went a little too far. Bess was too ordinary; she was a little boring to read about.
I also thought the ending was unrealistic. Maxi came across as spoiled and selfish but I thought her tandrum at the party leading to the demise of their friendship was a little farfetched. This brings us back to the lack of tension throughout the book. While Maxi showed small signs of jealousy prior to the party, I did not feel that her resentment towards Bess was strong enough to warrant a broken friendship. Every friendship harbours some degree of jealousy and resentment at one point or another; no friendship (or relationship for that matter) is perfect. The ending of a long friendship is a very traumatic event and I found it hard to believe that Maxi would so easily throw all of that away because she blew up at Bess, once. Had Maxi been acting like a crazy jealous maniac throughout the book, thus creating tension between the girls, then this ending would have been more appropriate. Also, with the climax in the last 5 pages of the book, it felt the ending was very rushed and poorly thought out. In the end, it almost felt as though Bess was not overly bothered by her broken friendship with Maxi; that is also hard to believe because Bess was portraited as someone who love with all her heart and will forever stand by her loyalty to her friends. I expected her to be completely broken hearted at the lost of her bestfriend of 16 years.
Finally, all the references to Toronto was a little annoying. At first it was fun, but after awhile, it felt like McCormack was trying too hard to impress.
Overall, I am not giving this book a great review. However, I think McCormack deserves another chance because I believe she has a lot of potentials. She's very witty and her humour was really the highlight of this book. I will definitely read another book written by her in the future.

Everyone kept telling me that this book isn't as good as her first two books, so when I read it, I did not have high expectations. However, I thought Griffin had done a great job writing this book. The story was not as emotionally gripping as the other two but I thought the character developement was wonderful. Both Claudia and Ben learned a valuable lesson that I think everyone can take that lesson home and apply it to their own lives. -
