This was my first experience with kinetic sand. It's not nearly as messy as I expected it to be. The addition of the different jewels you can try to find is neat, but I'm not sure if it adds much value to the product. Once the jewels are found...   +

This was my first experience with kinetic sand. It's not nearly as messy as I expected it to be. The addition of the different jewels you can try to find is neat, but I'm not sure if it adds much value to the product. Once the jewels are found, what's left to do? We played with it for a while before putting it away - which was surprisingly easy compared to what I had always thought the texture would be. A kit with sculpting tools would have given more lasting fun, I think, but I understand they're trying to get into the "surprise" market that kids are all about these days. The jewels were nothing special and seemed even cheaper than I expected them to be. Not sure what can be done with them now that they were collected, other than become something to step on. I'm definitely open to trying more kinetic sand in the future, but this specific product's "add ons" or "special features" weren't particularly enticing.
Also, not sure if it's the weight or how it was packaged, but the jewels had sunk to the bottom of the chest. Would have been more fun if they had been mixed in a bit more.    -
