I recently found my new favourite lip balm in a tube: ChapStick All Natural Lip Balm. This lip balm contains 100% all natural ingredients like Vitamin E, jojoba, shea butter and mango butter, all of which help to keep your lips smooth and moisturized. It is also not tested on animals and contains no preservatives.
For this price ($1.49), I can easily afford to keep a tube in my purse, at the office, on my nightstand, and with my make-up. One application of ChapStick All Natural lip balm locks in the moisture and keeps my lips feeling great for many hours.

Similar to misschickie, I too have encountered problems using the L'Oreal Lineur Intense liquid eyeliner. I'm usually a big fan of L'Oreal products so it pains me to say that this particular product did not work for me. While I am no expert in using liquid eyeliner, I am fairly confident that it should not cake, melt or rub off with regular use. On the several occasions that I used it, I found the eyeliner took very long to dry and that, once dried, it was quite fragile and would often fall apart. The fact that this product is not waterproof certainly doesn't help matters, as it would run if I blinked too often. (I can't imagine what I would have looked like if it had started to rain outside!)
Would I buy this product again? Not unless it was waterproof, smudgeproof and cake-proof.
If you've used Lineur Intense before and found that the product worked for you, please tell me what the secret is...

While I haven't had my hair cut at Civello on Queen, I do use the brow waxing services of Tara (resident brow artiste) on a regular basis. She takes the time to study your brow and facial structure, and customizes your brow to suit you. Tara's super-friendly and great at what she does. The wax used at the salon is very gentle and doesn't require cloth strips, so you'll never experience the level of pain, soreness or redness that you might get at other salons. If you're in the market for a new brow design, I highly recommend an appointment with Tara. Brow design is $25, and brow maintenance is $15. Note that brow maintenance is only applicable when service is rendered within 2.5 weeks after your initial booking; otherwise, it's the full design fee. -

Ho Su is located just around the block from my office so I've had plenty of opportunity to sample different dishes from their menu. While the price is very good (lunch specials are $3.99 to $7.95), I have often found the quality of the food to be hit-or-miss. There have been times when the chicken Korean or terriyaki Salmon taste a bit off from the usual (too sour, or overcooked), and the sushi is sometimes not as tasty as at other places. However, the price is certainly right for a quick lunch. The place gets very crowded at lunchtime so take-out is a good option unless you arrive just before noon or after the lunch rush clears out. -

I absolutely swear by Philosophy's Hope in a Jar moisturizer. This cream absorbs nicely into your skin moments after application, and leaves your skin feeling soft and beautiful without leaving behind any oiliness as other creams tend to do. I've been using this moisturizer religiously for the past two years, and can't say enough good things about it. I travel with it, and never go to bed without making sure all of my make-up is off and my face pampered with a smattering of Hope in a Jar. I've even been known to rave about this product whenever I'm in Sephora and there are people looking at the jars on the shelves.
As a side note, my mother has used this moisturizer on her hands and found that it leaves them soft and hydrated. She usually has very dry skin on her hands, a result of years of doing laundry, dishes and cleaning by hand. After trying many hand creams, Hope in a Jar is the only one that seems to work for her -- and it's not even meant to be a hand cream!

Love the Eucalyptus-scented foam bath. It's a staple item for me in the winter since I always catch a cold at some point. There's nothing better than running a hot bath with a capful of Ombra foam bath added, and soaking in the tub while my sinuses ease up. After that, I just want to crawl under the covers and go to bed while I can still breathe properly. -

Serving up some of the cheapest and tastiest burritos around, Burrito Boyz has two locations in the downtown club-zone: 120 Peter Street (at Richmond St W) and 218 Adelaide Street West (at Duncan St). There's also a location in Mississauga for the 905-ers at 9 Stavebank Road (near Lakeshore and Hurontario). This little take-out place is very popular at lunch and after a night on the town, so you can expect a line-up out the doorway (and standing room only inside) during its rush. However, service is fast and friendly... just be sure to make up your mind on what you want to order and the toppings that you want on your burrito or quesadilla.
Burritos are prepared on fresh tortillas, with a smattering of rice and/or refried beans, and topped with lettuce, tomatoes, green onions, spanish onions, shredded cheese and jalapeno peppers, salsa, sour cream, "secret burrito sauce", tartar sauce, and burrito boyz hot sauce - available in "hot" or "hotter". Fresh guacamole is also available for a nominal charge of $0.60. Burritos start at $4.39 for a small bean & cheese. The most expensive item on the chalkboard menu is a large halibut burrito or large shrimp burrito at $7.80.
Open til 4:30 am on Fridays and Saturdays because there's nothing better than a tasty grilled burrito after a night of clubbing... or a long morning at the office!

Located at 255 Queen Street West (just west of Osgood subway station), Little India Restaurant is a local lunchtime gem. The daily buffet costs $8.95 plus tax and tip, and there are so many items to choose from. The restaurant offers vegetarian dishes, as well as meat dishes like their famous butter chicken and tandoori chicken, so it caters well to anyone who enjoys a spicy meal.
There is also a regular menu that you can order from, and the restaurant is open for dinner until 10:30 pm daily.
The buffet hours are 11:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Sunday. On a weekday, I'd recommend you get there early as the tables fill up quickly and reservations can be tough to get.
Go find out why, of the four Indian buffets along a 2-block stretch of Queen West, Little India Restaurant is the one that consistently has line-ups.

This is the best battery-operated/electric toothbrush available on the market at an affordable price. I love the Oral-B Vitality Sonic version because it provides the same type of deep cleaning that you would normally pay $75 or more to get from a higher-end toothbrush. A timing device alerts you when you've brushed for the recommended 2 minutes. The charging unit keeps this brush fully powered and ready to go, plus it's quiet when you're using it (unlike the regular battery-operated toothbrushes on the market). This toothbrush leaves my teeth feeling "just left the dentist" clean and polished. If you want cleaner, whiter, more polished teeth, invest $25 in an Oral-B Vitality Sonic toothbrush and you'll be glad you did. -
