i had heard a lot of hype about these as being great quality for a drugstore product, so i picked up my first one in emerald smokes. i was soooo disappointed. i couldn't pick up any color on my brush. i tried all kinds of tricks to pick up pigment, including using them wet, but it didn't work so i ended up crushing the shadows and using them as pigments instead.
i saw a youtube video using one of these quads, and the colors were just phenominal so i picked up another one in natural smokes, and maybelline definetely redeemed themself. the quality of the product was far better than the last one. i picked up the 8 pan version in sunbaked and am continually impressed despite my not so delightful first experience.

the quality of these shadows is nice; they're smooth but not chalky, and u def can't beat them for the price. i have the quad in 3 shades, and will be repurchasing more. really like them, i'm impressed with rimmel.

these shadows aren't my favorite, especially for the price. they are a much better deal when u get them on sale. the shadows are pigmented once you're able to pick them up on a brush, which is difficult. i find myself constantly rubbing against the shadow to get any pigmentation on the brush. from there though, they are pretty nice when applied. not the best drugstore shadows i've used, but not the worst either. wouldn't repurchase unless it was for a specific special color. -
matte high lights are my favorite, so i love this shadow in 001 vintage lace. you a ton of product, and it's quality. not too chalky, smooth and light, buildable. if i need a matte shadow, i know what im getting.

love these things! they're great bases. i've got super oily lids, but i find with a paintpot underneath i can get away with flawless looking eyeshadow for a really extended amount of time. even my cheapy eyeshadows appear vibrant and rich... +

so worth the price.

i won't be repurchasing these only because i have no use for them, but if you're doing some super glammed up sparkley look, they'd probably work for that. i am not too happy with the consistency of them: a layer of tacky glitter on top and a pan of semi glittery wax underneath. they're hard to apply, and more irridescent than opaque. i have three so i'll use them til they're done, as a small touch of glam on a neutral eye or something.

let me just get this out of the way, YES there is a difference between elf's "cover" and "color" sticks, and the difference is exactly that. the color sticks are meant to add color, and the cover sticks are meant to cover it. elf's claim for this product is "great for using on under eye circles, blemishes, and as a primer. Getting a clear fresh face has never been so easy." for $1, you honestly can't beat it. a little goes a looooong way, it creases like none other, and can get cakey quickly. i like to use it under my foundation to cover up some redness if i really need heavy duty coverage. great for blemishes.
it has a smell, the light fruity/floral one that most of elf's other products have (in case you don't like cosmetics that have a fragrance). there is a decent shade selection too, which is very nice.
for $1, it gets the job done.
