I used to end up with an oily forehead by noon after powdering my face with this, but there are a few tricks from makeup artist Wayne Goss that I use to make this powder truly give and maintain a matte effect on my combination skin with large pores and deep acne scars in some areas.
First, I pat and press it into my moisturized face with the puff, instead of rubbing, before foundation.
Second, I crush and mix some of it in with my full-coverage foundation before applying it (a great way to avoid wasting broken pressed powders).
Third, I finish with a final light dusting of powder over my face , but you might not need to. (Ideally, you would pat more loose powder on and brush off the excess, but this isn't easy with pressed powder.)
With these techniques, my skin still glows through, believe it or not with all that powder, but has stayed matte for 24 hours or more with just a bit of forehead oiliness after all that time.
The only con is I wish it gave a bit fuller coverage, like a Cover FX powder would, but I don't think it was formulated with that intent, so it's still quite good.

It works fine for everyday use, and I like the "beautiful earth" scent, but it has no power against the odor of sweat in stressful situations, which once produced can last all day! For those times, I still have to rely on an antiperspirant. Will keep looking for a natural alternative. I also find it quite pricey unless it's on sale. -

I have thick, long hair, so I use at least a quarter-sized amount on my damp hair, but be very careful with the application of this product--too much and you'll end up with very greasy hair that you'll need to wash again right away! But if you apply carefully in small amounts till the ends are covered but not saturated, you'll get lovely, smooth hair. Finally!

I heard so much hype about this that I had to try it. The color selection provided the best match for my neutral fair skin that I think I've ever found, but the "full" coverage pales (pun intended) in comparison with Maybelline Superstay Foundation, which I've used for years and which saw me through some truly awful breakouts and redness in my combination skin. I also never found Revlon's application as easy, and I gave it multipl trials. Maybe they've updated the formula since I bought it, but so far I'm not impressed. -

This is, hands down, the best full-coverage drugstore foundation I've found, and my requirements are high. I used to suffer from terrible acne breakouts and redness and occasionally still do, and this foundation has saved me countless times and enabled me to go out in public with confidence.
If you have flaky, dry patches, be careful to exfoliate, moisturize, and prime as much as possible, because this can unfortunately accentuate them, but if you get the application right, you won't be sorry. You can also somewhat layer it to get a more or less full coverage, as needed.
I heard great things about Revlon Colorstay, and I have to admit the color was a better match for my skin, but the coverage was nowhere near as impressive. Maybelline has a thicker, oilier consistency that works well for camouflage, whereas Revlon didn't cover as well and was more difficult to distribute. I gave it multiple trials and kept coming to the same conclusion. Maybelline for me!
If I follow Wayne Goss' tips of powdering my skin prior to application, mix a more little loose powder in with the foundation then apply, and if needed, finish with a light powdering afterward, it doesn't budge and doesn't need a touchup for 24 hours or more (yes, I've slept with makeup on, I know...) except maybe a bit on my forehead. Reasonable price, too!
The color is the tricky part for my neutral skin tone. I buy the yellow-based Natural Ivory and the pink-based Porcelain and blend them together, which works quite well.

When I use other bar soaps to wash my hands, I quickly end up with dry, peeling, bleeding cuticles, especially in winter. But never with Dove. I also use it in the shower as a body soap, and it likewise doesn't leave my skin tight and dry.
The only downside is because of its creamy content, it breaks down fairly fast into a slimy mess in the soap holder, and the residue can smell strangely if you don't regularly rinse it off the holder.
Besides that, this is an excellent product!
