I use this sunscreen in SPF 45. I used to love it but lately I have not been impressed. Originally I was a faithful Banana Boat user, but I went to Dominican and burned for the first time in my life using Banana Boat SPF 45. After that I decided that if it wasn’t standing up to the strong Dominican sun, it probably wasn’t cutting it in Canada either. I had read a lot of good things about this sunscreen and although it was pricier, it seemed like it was worth the money (in my view, sun protection is not one of those things you should be scrimping on anyway…)
I used this sunscreen on a recent trip of Egypt and it did the trick – I did not burn at all. I figure if my Banana Boat failed in the Caribbean but this stood up to the Egyptian desert then it is a winner. My only problem with it is that it is super greasy! I have that sticky feeling ALL DAY until I wash it off and that really bugs me, especially at the beach.
To summarize: GREAT sun protection, but TOO greasy.

This is one of my summer staples. I do like to soak up the sun in the summer months (who doesn’t?) but I feel that my skin should get a little pampering afterwards. This lotion is just the thing – it is an aloe lotion so it is very cooling and makes my skin feel great. Its light and soaks in easily. The best part is the lovely summery scent – I have used it for years now and associate that scent with summer (beware though, mosquitoes love the scent too, so don’t use it if you’re planning on going back outside – I learned this one the hard way). It is super cheap – on sale I think its about 3.99.
It is also available in a gel formula, but I prefer the lotion because I find the gel can be slightly sticky.

This is a really nice lipstick. I chose No. 64 which is a beautiful red. I got a coupon for a free lipstick (seriously, go to their store, buy one small thing and you can sign up for the Yves Rocher club. I HIGHLY recommend it – you get coupons in the mail and e-mails all the time for amazing deals, and tons of free stuff! Its REALLY worth it!!) I decided to try a red shade because I am normally not bold enough to try red, but I figured since it was free it would be ok to try in case I hated it. I was pleasantly surprised though – the colour glides on easily and really does feel moisturizing. It did not dry out my lips like some lipsticks can and it lasts for hours. The red colour was beautiful and not too bright or too dark. It was also slightly sheer at first, so it was buildable, however it was not shiny (which I don’t like in a lipstick) it was pleasantly matte. -
I love this shower gel. It is creamy and lathers a lot. My skin feels beautifully cleansed after use and smells lovely. The scent doesn’t stick around – which makes me kind of sad in this case – but it makes my showers enjoyable nonetheless.

I am usually quite happy with Maybelline products (and thanks to chickadvisor I have been able to try quite a few!) and this product was no exception. The lipstick was sheer and moisturizing, and I LOVE that it has SPF 15 in it! Nude Blush is code for exactly the same colour as my lips (ha ha) which I was thrilled with. You know those times when you feel like you want something on your lips but you don’t necessarily want colour or gloss (I know what you’re thinking … that’s called lip balm hunny…) I know I could use lip balm in these situations but sometimes you just want make-up you know? This product is ideal for those times – it adds a nice layer of moisture to your lips (while also giving them sun protection I might add) while making your face look polished and complete. I am very happy with this lipstick and think everyone should give it a try! -

This is a fun product – I am not usually one for body sprays, opting instead for scented moisturizers (you know, two birds with one stone...) but I quite like this one. It smells great and really does freshen me up. The bottle is cute and little so I keep it in my desk at work. I agree with the other reviewers that it does not last as long as I would like it to, but it isn’t perfume so I guess that is to be expected. I use Dove products anyway, however I like the Cucumber and Green Tea scent. After trying this product I am wondering what the body mist in that scent is like … -

I have never read any other Debbie Macomber books but this one was recommended to me, and I know she is a bestseller author so I gave it a try (I was only hesitant because it seems like the kind of drugstore paperback that I would normally avoid). It was a nice light read. The best description I can think of would be to say it is the literary equivalent of a Hallmark movie – it’s warm and fuzzy but nothing earth shattering. You laugh, you cry, but you pretty much forget about it once it’s over. It’s not really a page turner, let’s day that but every time you pick it up, you feel like you are returning to old friends.
The book tells the story of Lydia a two time cancer survivor who is struggling with finding her own identity and her place in the world. She has a rocky relationship with her sister, and is looking for love, although she is afraid to let anyone in. She opens a yarn shop (she cultivated a love for knitting during her time spent in hospital beds) and offers a knitting class to generate business. Her class draws a small group of women who become unlikely friends: Alix, a bad girl with a good heart, Jacqueline, an upper class county-clubber with a hate for her newly pregnant daughter-in-law and Carole, a career woman trying to start a family. See what I mean, Hallmark movie?
I’ll let you find out the rest … I wouldn’t say I highly recommend this book, but I wouldn’t say don’t read it either. If you occasionally like fluffy stories about women and relationships, I would read this book – it’s a quick read after all. And I hear there are 2 more in the series…

I have been dying to try the Joe Fresh line of cosmetics for a while now, but honestly I have so much make-up and not enough faces to wear it on ha ha so I have been trying to resist. Well, my blush just ran out and you cannot NOT have blush … so while I was having my regular rendez vous with Joe I decided to check out their blush options – they have powder and cheek tint. The cheek tint comes in a number of shades (including berry, bronze, nude, cheery, peach and pink). I chose berry – a darker purple-red kind of colour because I found that the others were kind of bright/light on my medium skin tone.
Like all Joe Fresh products I am quite happy with this purchase – it comes in a tube not unlike a lipstick tube where you roll the product up and rub it on your cheeks. It drags on little on your skin but I remedied that by putting on a tiny dot of lotion before I applied. The colour looks beautiful and natural. I can’t really explain how it is different from powder blush – it seems like the blush is radiating from under your skin sort of. I also tried it out on my lips (like I said, its not unlike a lipstick) and it also looks quite nice. However I don’t think I would recommend using it as a lip product necessarily because it did smudge more than I would accept from a normal lipstick.
All in all, a great product (and did I mention it was only 4 bucks?!)

I really enjoy this product. At first I was apprehensive – I thought the fact that it was in a spray bottle was just a silly gimmick. Then I smelt it and it reminded me of a grandma kind of rosy scent – a far cry from the “sensual” scent it promises on the bottle. Boy was I wrong!!
The spray bottle actually turned out to be quite handy – I refuse to skip my lotion-after-a-shower routine even on mornings when I hit snooze one too many times, and this bottle made my lotion step so quick! I simply spritzed it all over my body and quickly rubbed it in. It absorbed fast and I was able to dress right away because it didn’t leave my skin all sticky and residue-y. It also smelt amazing when I put it on – dare I say, sensual?
I love this product! I makes my skin feel super soft and light (as in not weighed down by a heavy lotion) and I got compliments on how nice I smelt all day long! I would definitely recommend it!

This oil is a gentler version of their regular tea tree oil. It is meant for use on the face. Gentle Strength refers to the 20% pure tea tree oil contained in this bottle. The other ingredients are Grain Alcohol, and Polysorbate 20. It is a fairly large bottle – 120 mL or 4 fl. oz. I use this oil as a toner occasionally, and also as a spot treatment for the occasional blemish. The scent is really strong and it tends to feel like its burning a little but it works just as well as regular tea tree oil. I got it from the Superstore and it was between 7 and 10 dollars. Well worth it for the large bottle – I have had it for months now and am only half way through it. It can also be used as an antiseptic because it can be applied directly to the skin.
