I am completely and utterly on the fence with the foundation. Part of me loves it SO much and thinks it is my new favourite make-up item. The other part of me thinks that is has some of the qualities that make make-up an automatic no-no for me. Why do I keep using it then you ask? Because I absolutely adore how it makes my skin look.
First off, I cannot tell you how many compliments I have gotten on my complexion since I started using it 2 weeks ago. People say things like you have such a beautiful complexion, and what gorgeous skin you have! I cannot believe it because truthfully I don’t have all that gorgeous skin lol. So it’s really not that difficult to figure out why I keep using it. It gives my skin that radiant and luminous glow that all celebrities seem to have, but that has so far escaped me in terms of make up. Even illuminators have not allowed me to achieve a glow that matches this one. It also minimizes my pores (just as it promises) and evens out my skin tone (as all good foundations do).
My only complaint is how my skin feels with this product on – oily. This is the main reason that I generally avoid liquid foundations, opting instead for powder versions (such as my staple, Mac Studio-Fix foundation). I generally prefer these because of the ease of use and the matte way my skin feels. This foundation makes my skin feel kind of dewy, moist and almost sticky. I would prefer it if the foundation felt as matte as it looks.
As far as application goes it was pretty standard for liquid foundation. The bottle had a handy locking mechanism and it dispenses just the right amount of product to allow you to gradually build to your desired level of coverage. I apply with my fingers, and sometimes even mixed it with my face lotion for a sheer tinted moisturizer look. My only complaint about applying with my fingers is that the colour stays on my hands until I wash it off with soap and water (I learned this the messy way). Also on this note, the foundation does not wash off my face that easily. Perhaps this is the fault of my acne fighting cleanser (it’s not really designed to remove all make-up I suppose) but it irks me when I have to buy make up remover or a new cleanser just because I have purchased a make-up item that stubbornly won’t wash off.
To summarize:
Likes:
*The gorgeous, radiant appearance of my skin after application
*my pores were minimized
*skin tone appeared more even
*did I mention the glow???
Dislikes:
*Requires soap and water to wash off of hands after application
*Does not wash off easily from face, without cleanser designed specifically for make-up removal
*The slightly oily appearance and feel of my skin with the make-up on
Overall I think the lovely appearance of my skin (not that I am trying to toot my own horn here) with this foundation greatly outweighs the annoyance I have with washing it off my hands/face, or dealing with the oiliness of my skin. I mean that is what blotting papers were invented for right? I will most certainly purchase this in the future and highly recommend it to anyone who wants light to medium coverage with a luminous glow.

I recently got a free sample of Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Tea and I have found that it really helps me fall asleep. It’s an herbal tea which contains chamomile, spearmint, lemongrass, berries and orange blossoms, and is naturally caffeine free. It tastes mild and lovely (similar to green tea) and I find that it really does help me fall asleep. -

I am a huge fan of tea in general, and green tea is one of my favourites, but I was not a huge fan of this one. At first the delicate blueberry taste was quite pleasing, and sweet enough that I didn't need to add any sugar. But once I was about half way through the cup I was sick of drinking tea that tastes like the taste in your mouth after you have blueberry flavoured bubble gum. My boyfriend nicknamed teas like the one with unnatural flavours "science tea" and I think that is a perfect description of this particular flavour. -

I love Watkins products and this product is no exception. I work in an office and all the paper makes my hands super dry. I keep a pot of this lotion on my desk and it really does deliver on its promise to heal dry skin. The consistency is that of a body butter which feels extra nourishing and makes my hands look smooth and healthy. My only complaint is that having it in a tub makes application a tad messy, but I am willing to endure that for the fabulous product inside. -

This restaurant is located at 2 Adelaide Street West, Toronto (in between Adelaide and Yonge) in the Scotia Plaza.
My mom and I have gone to this restaurant a couple of times now and both times have been disgusted by the horrendous service. Why do we keep going back you ask? Because the food is fantastic and quite reasonably prices given its location in the heart of the financial district. I got a salmon platter last time I went and it was no more than 15 dollars. This time I got a bento box which included salad and miso soup to start, 6 California rolls, tempura (including one piece of shrimp and one piece of crab) 4 dumplings, steamed rice and teriyaki chicken (in my moms case she got salmon). Both were SO yummy. All this for only 13 bucks!
My service complaints: The first time we waited more than 20 minutes for our change, only to have our server come over and ask us to give her the table because she needed it for the next lunch hour. We told her we were waiting for our change. She disappeared and did not return. We complained to the manager, who personally brought us our change, at which point our waitress showed up with our change as well. The lack of communication is astounding.
The last time we went the whole restaurant had cleared out and we were still waiting for our bill. There was not a waiter or waitress in sight, and when ours finally did appear she brought the bill at snail pace. Not to mention the California rolls came after our meal for some strange reason, so we had to have them packed up. Both times we had lunch there our lunch took an hour and a half (plus) which is simply unacceptable considering most, if not all people in this area need to get back to work after an hour. Most restaurants in this area are extremely mindful of this fact, but not this place apparently.
Overall I don’t think I will be going back. The food is great and an incredible value but I cannot deal with the service. I suppose if you were not in a rush to get back to work and could afford to have a leisurely lunch it would be fine for you, however I’m willing to bet that the waitress’ disappearing act would be equally as distressing to you.
can’t say I recommend going here unless you’re in the mood to be extremely aggravated.

This mascara is supposed to be the blackest Lash Blast with a hint of shimmer and colour. There are 4 shades: Black Platinum (black-purple), Black Cabernet (black-red), Black Emerald (black-green) and Black Royale (black-Blue) I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed with this mascara. Although I was rather skeptical about the whole shimmer thing in the first place, I thought I would give it a try because it was the same price as regular Lash Blast (which I am IN LOVE with).
I chose Black Royal because I thought it would be purple (purple brings out brown eyes right?) but in the store or on the package there is NO indication of what the colour actually is, other than the name. And the names are pretty damn vague if you ask me. (Hence my attempt at a detailed break down of the colours offered above). So I was off to a bad start because I got blue when in fact I had wanted purple. This was my own fault for thinking royal implied purple I suppose.
Anyway, as some of the other reviewers have mentioned, you can only really tell there is anything remotely special (colour and shimmer wise) in some lighting. And even then, it is nothing to write home about. However I cannot complain that much because it still has the incredible volumizing power of the original Lash Blast, so it was not a total waste of money and I will continue to use it until it runs out.
In terms of repurchasing? That would be a no. Also I would not advise buying this mascara if it costs more than the original because it is not worth it. However as regular mascara in general I would still have to give it the thumbs up.

I am IN LOVE with this chocolate. I am a huge fan of dark chocolate to begin with, but this chocolate is just heavenly. The shell is just perfect – delicate yet just enough solid chocolate. The mousse inside is to die for. It is exactly like eating mousse and its incredible to me that they were able to capture that so perfectly in a chocolate. In short, I will most certainly be buying this again, and I recommend it to ALL chocolate lovers. Dare I say it, even if you don’t like dark chocolate I think you will be happy with these mousse squares because they are not too bitter.
I had these on my desk at home and it made me so happy to know I could come home from work and have a decadent little treat waiting for me. For this joy, it is definitely worth the price (not that it is expensive to begin with).
As some other reviewers have mentioned, the box is a little fiddly, but once you figure it out it does keep the chocolates sealed quite nicely. Also on the topic on packaging, I do not think it is excessive at all.

While this chocolate was absolutely delicious I much prefer the dark chocolate version. The milk chocolate squares have milk chocolate on the outside and dark chocolate mousse on the inside. I think this combination is a good idea because it would be too sickly sweet if it was milk chocolate through and through. The chocolate shell is just delicate enough, and the mousse inside is divine. My liking the dark chocolate squares better is simply a matter of personal preference when it comes to chocolate. Both are equally delicious and I would definitely buy them again.

I should preface this review with saying that I haven’t dated what you would call A LOT over the years, so I suppose I could not actually relate to a large part of this book. However even though I do not have first hand experience with a lot of this male behaviour, I know people who have and can also relate based simply on the fact that I am a woman. That being said I HATED IT.
It is supposed to be a wake-up call kind of self-help book for the dating challenged. The basic idea that they try to get across is that women do not value themselves even when they have tremendous worth and potential, and as a result we pick the wrong men and end up punishing ourselves (or at least this is my interpretation of what they were trying to say). According to them women over analyze men and situations and as a result spend valuable time obsessing over the wrong men when we could be out looking for the right one. The point they really try and hit home (which is obvious from the title) is don’t make excuses for men’s bad behaviour – take it as a sign that he is just not that into you. THERE I summarized all you need to know about this book, so you don’t even have to read it now. Honestly, seeing the author on Oprah was enough to summarize the book.
The reason I hated this book SO much was because I found it to be condescending – it assumes that women are all the same, and that we all stupidly (knowingly or not) accept mens atrocious behaviour in our blind quest to find mister right. I’m sorry but I just don’t think the majority of women fall into this category, and even the ones that do, do not deserve to be spoken to the way the author writes – as if they’re stupid. I suppose they assume the ones that need the help are the ones reading the book (and considering I don’t think I needed this book I guess it was my mistake for reading it). But regardless, I will not recommend this book to any of my single friends because although the author was trying to empower women and build their self esteem, I feel that it does the opposite of what it was trying to achieve.

I was tremendously disappointed with this book. Many people had recommended it to me, and it was a best seller so I thought it was a sure thing. I was wrong – I hated the whole thing.
Life of Pi tells the story of Pi, a young boy growing up in India – his father owns a zoo, so he grows up surrounded by wild animals. He is a smart boy, and feels very close to God – oddly, he chooses to be a practicing Catholic, Muslim and Hindu. Due to political turmoil in India at the time, the family decides to sell all of their animals and move to Canada. In a dramatic twist of events, the ship they are sailing on sinks, and Pi is left sharing a lifeboat with a hyena, an orangutan, an injured zebra and a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. The bulk of the book is the story of their amazing journey.
My problem with the story is that I felt very little happened. There were not a significant number of events, and I thought they story lacked momentum. I was sitting there waiting for something – ANYTHING – to happen. Upon finishing the book I spoke to the same people who had recommended it to me, asking them how they could have loved such a slow and boring book. It seems that there is a profound underlying meaning to the story (which I still don’t think is all that profound, but that’s just me) that went completely over my head. Apparently while I was busy waiting for something to happen, I was missing the significance of what WAS happening. Part of me wishes someone would have told me to pay attention that that before I had started reading. The other part thinks that if I didn’t get it on my own, perhaps the book just really wasn’t for me.
My profound disappointment with this book is based on going on with high hopes. I blame this on the people who recommended it to me, the fact that it is a best seller, and also the claim on the back of the book by one reviewer that said something like, this is a story to make you believe in God. In hindsight I should have known that that was too large of a claim – anything that makes such a lofty promise is bound to be a let down, and it was.
Although I had a bad experience with this book, I would still reccomened it to others. If you don’t like books that are uneventful then it is definitely not for you. However, I think that if you are able to connect with the story the way it seems many have, then you will truly enjoy it. Good luck to you!
