A few people with similar hair to mine (curly, frizzy and slightly unruly) have said they have been using Biosilk forever and that it is one of their staple hair care products. So, on my never ending quest for glossy frizz free curls I decided to give it a try.
It is available in most salons, and I also have also spotted it at Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharma Plus. The smaller bottle sells for between $14-20 while the bigger bottle (which is double the size) sells for $20-24. Obviously the bigger bottle is a much better deal if you love the product. A friend of mine lent me hers to try and thank god she did because otherwise I would have been out 20 bucks.
I cannot tell you how much I hated this product. It simply did not work well with my hair. Its thin oily consistency only requires you to use a small amount on wet to damp hair (you can also use it post styling on dry hair). I used it after my shower on damp hair, and as I let my hair air dry it looked as though I had walked home in the rain. My curls were flat and completely lacked bounce and volume, however at the same time they were still frizzy as if I had not put any product in them at all. I thought for oil I would have to use less of this product, but after this experience I decided to try more. WRONG AGAIN. It did the same thing. Lastly I smoothed it through my damp hair before blow drying it straight. For this purpose it worked quite well – my hair was shiny and silky, while not being weighed down by product. I was happy with this result but do not feel like investing 20 dollars in a product I use on the rare occasion I blow my hair out.
From my experience I can only recommend trying this product out. As with any hair product, it works wonders for some, and not at all for others. I know that kind of advice doesn’t help you much if you’re trying to decide whether to buy it or not (sorry!) but at least you won’t expect it to work miracles just because it is a salon product.

I was very excited to try the Say Yes to Carrots line, and I had especially heard a lot about the C Me Smile Lip Butter. This line is finally sold in Canada (you can find it at Shoppers Drug Mart) and I was so happy! I have to say though, I think my feelings towards this product are a lot like when you hear a great deal about how amazing a movie is, to the point where when you finally see it you expect beyond incredible and just feel so-so and wonder what all the hype was about. That was exactly how I felt about this lip butter. It is a nice lip balm, it does moisturize, and it makes me happy that it is organic. However I think I built it up in my mind to be an amazing product, so when I finally tried it, it was just ok (Obviously mu point, but here are my reasons):
I was not overly impressed by any aspect of it. It moisturizes just as well as most of my other lip balms, it doesn’t smell or taste any better or worse, and it doesn’t make the overall texture and appearance of my lips look any different after use. I tried the Carrot version (I figured hey, if I’m trying Say Yes to CARROTS I may as well try the Carrot one right?) but they also have Berry, Mint, Citrus and Melon. It doesn’t smell like carrot when you sniff it, but it does when it is on your lips. I personally like the smell (it makes me feel healthy, like I just ate a salad or something ha ha) but I can see how it might not appeal to some people.
My only significant complaint is that it actually doesn’t glide on as smoothly as some of my other lip balms (think the texture of Burt’s Bees but not as waxy) which I can only assume can be attributed to the lack of chemicals – after all, its hard to compete with the better-than-perfect silkiness that chemicals can create.
Overall, I think this is a good lip balm and would recommend it. However I don’t think it is anything spectacular.

I love this product. I was really excited to try the Say Yes to Carrots line and was not at all disappointed with this product. You wash and condition your hair like normal, then you put the mask in and let it sit for 12-15 minutes. Lastly you rinse it out with warm water and voila, you have gorgeous, moisturized shiny locks!!! Seriously, I noticed a difference in the texture of my hair when it was still sopping wet!!! Now that’s amazing!
My favourite part is that your hair is not at all weighed down afterwards like it tends to be with a lot of moisturizing hair masks. My hair looked healthy and bouncy. The first time I tried it I straightened my normally curly hair, and my hair was not weighed down at all! As I let my hair air dry before I straightened it, my curls dried as though I had product in my hair, but I hadn’t put anything in them except for the mask!!! I am so beyond enthused by this! And mask that can moisturize my hair to this point, while still letting it look healthy and not weighed down is number 1 in my books! Highly recommend.

I should preface this review by saying that usually I am reluctant to review shampoos because I don’t find they have a significant effect on my hair either way – I never seem to notice a huge improvement or a drastic adverse effect (this could perhaps be because there is no significant difference between one drugstore brand and another, but I digress). This shampoo is no exception – I didn’t notice a significant change in my hair.
I tried this Shampoo because it was on sale, and also because my hair stylist told me that Loreal makes drugstore hair care products that are most similar in quality to salon brands. It smells nice, lathers well, and my hair feels clean after use. As for the overall appearance of my hair – I did not notice a significant difference in texture, manageability or scent. Overall, a mediocre product, worth the price you pay.

Ok, so there are SO many reasons to love Joe Fresh, but did you know their socks are one of them? I LOVE LOVE LOVE these socks. I have purchases regular ankle socks, sport socks, and dress socks from here and have been exceedingly happy with all of them. They last a long time (the quality of Joe Fresh products is undeniable) and are really comfy. Not to mention they have small but cute little spins on the classics; for example, you know the socks that are white with gray heels and toes? Well Joe Fresh’s version of these is black socks with brightly coloured heels and toes! And it came 7 in a pack (one for each day of the week!) Not to mention the price is amazing. I got a pack of 4 sport socks for 6 dollars! Highly recommend. -

I got a couple of bras from Jacob Lingerie on Boxing day because they were a super good deal. At first I was happy with the quality and overall comfort – they fit like a glove, and were very well made. However, several months later they are falling apart!! I have washed them with the same care as all my other bras (hand wash, or gentle cycle on the washer, then hang to dry) but these ones seem to have fallen apart twice as fast as even my La Senza bras! Usually my bras from La Senza last about a year but it is 4 months later for these bras and they are already on their last legs. The padding on one of them went all wonkey after its first wash, and the second one (which fits amazingly and I will be sorry to see it go) the underwire has shifted and is getting dangerously close to ripping a whole in the end (right under my arm) and being exposed completely. It hurts so much to wear this one by the end of the day that I can’t even wear it anymore. Not to mention the constant rubbing of the nearly exposed underwire has made (what seems like) a permanent little mark under my arm. NOT. IMPRESSED.
I would recommend spending your money elsewhere on bras ladies.

While I love the convenience of this product, the wastefulness of it really breaks my heart. That aside, I received them in my swag bag from the Shopaholic Movie Night, and have really enjoyed them. You can use them for simple cleaning and also for disinfecting. They work very well in either case. I use them when I clean the bathrooms to wipe off the counters and other surfaces that don’t get washed with comet and a sponge (too messy!) My favourite thing to do is to keep them in the kitchen to wipe up messes and clean off the counter top and stove after preparing something. And the decorative box is great for this purpose because you can leave the container out and your kitchen still looks tidy and pretty.
Overall, these are a fabulous idea, and you cannot beat the convenience, but in the long run I will not be repurchasing them because of the face that they are disposable and highly wasteful.

I decided to invest in some quality make up tools, but didn’t want to splurge on really expensive brushes (hell, buying make up brushes is a splurge in itself for me. I am used to using the little puffs that come with all my cosmetics.) I decided to try Quo because Shoppers Drug Mart is trusted in my books. They are comparable prices to Sephora brand make-up brushes, except if you wait for a sale you can get up to 40% off PLUS Shoppers Optimum Points (what more could a girl want?) I bought an all over face brush, a blush brush, and an all over eye shadow brush. I am so happy with all of them – the quality is great. They are very soft, and do the job. I have had them for over a year now and they still seem brand new! -

WOW what a great idea! The 5 year old inside me lives for KD and these cups combine the deliciousness of your childhood fave with the convenience of Easy Mac in an even more convenient microwavable cup! I keep a couple in my desk and work, and they are perfect for an afternoon snack. They have original, and a new Three Cheese kind too which is also delicious. These are such a simple pleasure that make me so happy! -

I have never tried a bronzer before (because I have a medium skin tone so I never thought I needed it) but now that I have tried it, I wonder what on earth I was waiting for! This stuff is GREAT. I use it instead of blush on the apples of my cheeks and my face looks glowing and amazing (not to toot my own horn ha ha.) Really though, it adds this indescribable glow to your skin, because you cannot pinpoint the cause of the radiance. It does not add a fake colour like blush might (you can sometimes tell when someone is wearing blush, even if its subtle, because it looks like they’re well, blushing!) but bronzer simply adds a natural looking skin colour. The luminosity in the powder itself adds that je ne sais quoi and I LOVE IT!!! So so happy with this product! -
