I carefully researched all the popular cutting machines including the mega popular Cricut before settling on the Silhouette. The deciding factor for me was that I did not have to purchase the expensive cartridges. I can download fonts and cuts from my computer or from the Silhouette site, most are only 98 cents. I have had hours of creative fun with this machine making unique gifts for friends and family. It also cuts heavy paper for scrapbooking,even fabric. There is no limit to what can be made with this machine. I love it!    -
