For The Love Of Cake is a cute little shop in this hidden alley in the Liberty Village neighbourhood of Toronto. I first heard of it back in 2011 when I saw a Groupon for Cakeballs and bought that for my birthday. On my birthday, I trekked down there to redeem it. It turns out they aren’t open Mondays (which was plain to see on their website if I had looked) so I had to go to Metro and buy a cake to celebrate my birthday. The Groupon expired 6 months later and I never really thought about if after that.
THE SERVICE
Fast forward over two years to yesterday when my friend and I were having a nice walk in the area. She mentioned that she heard there was a great cupcake place around there and I thought of my Groupon. I joked that I should ask about it and she said “Yea, you should”. Once we were inside I jokingly mentioned it to the person serving us and he said “Sure, we will give you the value you paid for it”. SOLD! I looked up the Groupon on my phone and he easily redeemed it for me. I told my friend to pick out a few for her and her husband and I grabbed a few.
I was SO impressed that he didn’t give me any grief about redeeming them. Although it is the law to redeem the vouchers for the value you paid for them (not the promotional value advertised), many retailers won’t honour them. I’ve had a very bad experience with a spa and will be writing about that shortly.
THE CUPCAKES
Now on to the cupcakes. In short, they were AMAZING! My friend, her husband and I all agree that they were moist and delicious with unique flavours. I had Chocolate Raspberry, Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana and Rocky Road. They were all great, even the next day (I saved one). If you are ever in Liberty Village, check out For The Love Of Cake, they are the whole package with wonderful customer service and awesome cupcakes.

A couple of weeks ago I had a coupon for 20x the points at Shoppers Drug Mart so I decided to treat myself. I bought some make-up, hair colour and this face cleanser thing. I had seen the cleansers that had the brush included in the head and wanted one. When I saw it on sale this day, I decided to try it out. I could not believe how amazing it made my skin feel. I have had microdermabrasion treatments and facials before and this made my skin feel just as smooth if not smoother. This wonderful product is the Garnier Pure Control Exfo-Brusher. It’s so easy to use too. You just click the top to the open position, wet the brush and dispense a little bit of cleanser. You then click it closed and massage the product all over your face for a minute or two. It does really scrub so it might be a little bit uncomfortable but it’s worth it. -
