I received a free, full-sized sample of Dove 0% Aluminum Deodorant on one of the hottest days of the summer so far. With temperatures in the mid-30's (Celsius) and the humidex making it feel closer to 40, I knew that this particular deodorant had its work cut out for it! I put some on after my morning shower, crossed my fingers and hoped for the best, as I headed out for a long day in the hot summer sun.
The deodorant went on smoothly, leaving no sticky film or residue behind. The cucumber and green tea scent was lovely and not too overpowering. I normally stay away from heavily-scented products, so this was just the right level of scent for me!
I went from activity to activity, carrying on as I normally would, stopping every couple of hours to give myself a discreet (but necessary) sniff test. Not only did this deodorant hold up all day, without so much as a hint of any unpleasant odour, but I was still smelling fresh the next morning! (Kind of remarkable, considering that I had spent hours in the hot, summer sun!)
This product is definitely something I will be adding to my morning routine. (It beats the product I'm currently using by a mile!) The fact that it is aluminum-free makes me even happier, as I try to avoid contact with aluminum at all costs. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to stay fresh and pleasant-smelling throughout a long, active day.

Toronto is known for its hot, humid summers. You start off each morning freshly showered and coiffed and wind up looking like a soggy noodle by the end of the day. During the hottest, most hellish weeks of the summer, Dove Care Between Washes Invisible Dry Shampoo came to my rescue, freshening up my limp locks and taking me from day to evening in style! The texture was soft and powdery going on, but didn't leave a trace, which I really appreciated. I loved the scent, too! It was delightful but still subtle. I found myself sniffing my hair throughout the day because I enjoyed the scent so much.
The product worked like a charm, extending the length of time I could take between shampoos. A few little spritzes and it was like I'd just washed and styled my hair all over again. And it didn't take much product to achieve the desired result. Talk about value for money! I liked the spray so much that I gave it to my daughter to use, as well. She loved it! To be honest, I don't think I'll ever get it back.
I'd definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants fresh feeling and smelling hair in a matter of moments, without having to lather, rinse, and repeat.

It was a very warm day and I was slightly overdressed. I had been walking around downtown for quite some time, going from one meeting to the next, and desperately needed some hydration. I found myself at the Stackt Market (on Bathurst Street, south of King Street, in Toronto) and wandered into the Flow pop-up. Needless to say, I was thrilled when they offered me some free water! (A full-sized carton, not just a thimbleful.)
I chose the Lemon & Ginger flavour. I loved it! It was absolutely what I needed: so refreshing and thirst-quenching, with subtle hints of lemon and ginger. Definitely not overpowering!
Water is always good for the body but this water felt even better for me than plain water. I was revitalized!
I would purchase this product again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!!!

My son loves brownies. He asks for them regularly. I normally make them with high quality chocolate and take my time to ensure that they're perfect.
While I'm sure my son appreciates my efforts, spending a small fortune on Valrhona or Callebaut chocolate seemed like a bit of a waste for something that wouldn't last more than 5 minutes. So, I gave in and bought a packaged mix: Pillsbury's Chewy Fudge Brownie Mix.
The first time I made them, my son gobbled them up, without complaint. I tried one and, while they were okay, I found them too sweet and lacking that little something special. I knew that I'd have to tweak the mix, in order to satisfy my culinary conundrum.
I decided to substitute the suggested 1/4 cup water for strong coffee. This added a real depth of flavour and cut down on the sweetness a bit, which made them much more palatable to me. The next time I made them, I also added chopped walnuts, which added another level of deliciousness. Also, cooking them for a little less than the recommended time (in an 8" square Pyrex baking dish) made for a chewier texture, which my family prefers. I felt much better about using a mix, after having made these changes.
I would definitely purchase this product again, but would only recommend it if substitutions/additions were made.

I have always been a "from scratch" baker. I never took shortcuts or used mixes of any kind. I decided to give Betty Crocker a chance one day, when I had a craving for biscuits and wanted some quick, relatively mess-free results. To say that I was very pleasantly surprised would be an understatement!
I followed the simple directions to the letter, when making the basic biscuit mix. I did, however, take some liberties by adding crumbled cooked bacon, sliced green onions, grated marble cheddar cheese, and freshly cracked black pepper to the raw dough. The resulting biscuits were sublime. My family gobbled them up while they were still warm, giving my handiwork rave reviews. They were, honestly, just as good as some of the biscuits I've made from scratch. In fact, they were so good, I replicated the recipe and served them to guests at brunch a couple of weeks later, garnering rave reviews yet again.
Do I still prefer to bake from scratch? Truthfully, yes. Am I glad I tried Betty Crocker Bisquick Buttermilk Biscuit Mix? Definitely. Will I use this mix again? Absolutely!!!
Highly recommended!!!

We recently went to Jules Bistro (Spadina Avenue, Toronto) and had an absolutely outstanding meal. We started with an appetizer combo of rabbit rillette and duck liver pâté, served with slices of toasted baguette, cornichons, and lightly-dressed salad. It was excellent!
For our main course, we opted for the half-price Côte de Bœuf special they offer on Tuesdays. The beautifully cooked beef, served on a large wooden cutting board, was accompanied by frites, remoulade, ratatouille, and salad. Talk about perfection!
As if all of that wasn't enough, we ended our meal with espresso and a large wedge of superb Tarte Tatin, served with a hefty portion of fresh whipped cream and a dusting of powdered sugar. While it was a lot of food for 2, we had no problem finishing every last tasty morsel.
Service was attentive, without being overly solicitous. We took our waiter's recommendation and had a couple of bottles of Unibroue's delicious "La Fine du Monde" beer, which worked perfectly with our both our appetizer and main course selections.
Jules Bistro has become my go-to location for both business and social meals. I have never been disappointed. Highly recommended!!!
***PLEASE NOTE: this is not a kosher restaurant. However, I had to choose a category in order to be able to leave a rating. The only options available to me were Kosher, Pizza, and Seafood. This restaurant is none of those. It's a French bistro.

My friends and I took a private Succulent and Concrete Planter Making Workshop at JOMO Studio (located at the Stackt Market in Toronto) and it was FABULOUS!!! We all agreed that it was the best workshop we had ever taken, without exception.
We each made our own concrete planters, which we will pick up in a week after they are fully dried and sealed. We also planted small succulents in the pre-made planters of our choice, which we were able to take away with us, upon completion. We were thrilled with the results!
Our instructor, Graham, was exceptionally kind, patient, and entertaining. He skillfully guided us, answered all of our questions, gently corrected our mistakes, and put up with our collective silliness with grace and charm.
We had such a wonderful time that we registered for another upcoming workshop and plan to participate in two more workshops after that, once the dates are set!
I can't say enough good things about JOMO Studio, about co-owner/instructor Graham, and about their wonderful workshops. Highly recommended!!! 😊
