I purchased this bar soap after their super-effective commercials. I liked the idea of using a bar soap on my face and body, however I didn't realize this soap was so heavily perfumed. I found this left my skin (face and body) fairly dry and tight feeling, and the scent reminded me of my grandma a little too much. I didn't think the quality was bad, and I have since purchased different dove soaps that I use on my body, but the original didn't do it for me. I think it is a great price and good quality, and if it works well for you, then that's just great, but it isn't for everyone. Even now when I see the commercials offering women a free beauty treatment and you see them lathering it on a woman's face, I cringe a little inside. -

After years of struggling with painful cystic acne, my GP suggested using a topical antibiotic cream to try and clear up these deep recurring lumps. I kept getting these deep, bruise-y zits that quickly became large lumps on my chin, cheeks and forehead that never came to a head, no matter what I did. I often got these "zits" in the same spot every time, causing my skin to become permanently scarred due to picking and squeezing trying to relieve the pain and pressure these lumps caused. This product is available via perscription and it is mixed right before it is dispensed. Once the two medications are mixed, it is only good for three months. This product is fairly expensive. I live in Canada and filled it through costco's pharmacy. I have no insurance and paid 57.00 for this product, including dispensing fee. It isn't cheap, but there are a lot of high-end lotions at sephora that people shell out this kind of money for, so I justified it like that. You get a lot of product for the money, and there is a good chance I will still have some after it has expired. I use one pump on my face every night after washing with a CeraVe moisturising cleanser. Your face should be very dry when applying the product. The first couple of nights my skin felt very irritated after a few minutes of having it on, but that stopped after about a week and I now sleep with it on. Your face might get dried out, but not worse than using proactive, which I found was much more harsh than this product.
I noticed results within the first two days. my two constantly present cysts flattened substantially and were completely gone within a week of using the products. I haven't had a single zit since using this. The idea is that the antibiotic will permeate the skin and clear up the bacteria that is constantly causing the cysts. When I stop using this product, I'll be interested to see if the cystic acne comes back, or whether this "cleaned" out my skin enough. If you're desperate for something to help you with these huge red bumps, I highly recommend asking your doctor for this. I've never had clearer skin. I've also "overhauled" my general skincare routine, only using CeraVe cleaner and cetaphil lotions, which I think I will continue after I run out of this, since my skin seems to like it a lot.

I have always had a very hard time finding a facial sunscreen that doesn't break me out or cause me to look and feel like an oil spill has happened halfway through the day. This moisturizer changes everything. I purchased it to use daily after being perscribed a topical antibiotic called Benxaclin that causes skin to become more photosensitive. This lotion holds up to the non-comedogenic claim and hasn't given me any issues. The sunscreen is zinc oxide based, which prevents it from really plugging up your pores. At the same time, it doesn't feel like it sits on your skin like other zinc based sunscreens I've used. As for effectiveness, I haven't tried it in a real sunny climate yet, since it is winter here, but I will continue to use it throughout the summer under my foundation, and something is definitely better than nothing when it comes to sunscreen. This lotion applies fairly thin and keeps oil under control all day, which may be why my skin doesn't feel oily like it has when I wear other sunscreens on my face. It absorbs almost immediately as well, so it doesn't require any "setting time" before applying foundation. I would highly recommend this product if you've been having a hard time finding a good facial sunscreen, whether you wear foundation over it or not. -

This is a great everyday shadow palette. Not only is it an absolute steal at under 4.00 at Wal-Mart, but the quality holds up to major brands. The colours work well against fair skin, and are a natural shimmer that pulls warm rather than oxidizing to a gray, muddy colour. I prefer to mix the pink and "cream" colours together on the lid and use the light brown in the crease for everyday wear. For night, I usually add a darker brown in the outer corners to create a smoky eye. I think this palette specifically holds up to MAC shades. I have tried some other palettes in the line and still prefer the quality of this one the best. I prefer to apply it with a "pencil" brush and a "smuding/blending" brush, but it comes with an applicator that works fairly well for pressing the brown onto the lid as well. This palette lasts forever, I probably only buy one once ever year and a half. I even hoard this one and buy an extra when I see it because it sells out so often at my local Wal-Mart. -

I went through a huge Lush phase in the last year. This product gets rave reviews on their website and while it is probably the best of their cleansers, it is still only so-so. I believe I paid about 13.00 for a small tub of the product, which comes packed into a roll. You use it by breaking off small chunks, adding a few drops of water, and mashing it into a paste that you then wash your face with. This product is fairly messy and might clog up your sink. It has ground almonds in it that exfoliate, which is nice, but I find that these chunks are impossible NOT to get in your eyes, no matter how much you avoid that area. My skin saw no real improvement with this product and I've switched to only using it a couple times a week in the shower as a scrub rather than a regular cleanser because it is still fairly rough and clogs up my regular bathroom sink. If you are looking for something really gentle, I would suggest Cetaphil or CeraVe for cleanser and sugar and water as a scrub using light motions over your face. This really isn't worth the hype or price, plus it expires within three months of purchase, so you have to use it up otherwise it dries out and gets harder to use. -

This is HANDS DOWN my favourite mascara ever! I've been a Maybelline Mascara devotee for ages, but this mascara takes the cake. Not only does it separate every lash, but it lengthens and curls them effortlessly. It has a fairly long brush, it is slightly curved, and fairly rigid, which really helps to separate every lash. The brush itself is not too fat, but it isn't thin or tiny either, it is about the same size as your lash-line would be. The product itself is very build-able, you can put on a little for natural definition, or layer it on for a more dramatic look. The product stays wet for a long time (unlike the chaotic lash by Maybelline, which dried out very quickly), and the product doesn't tend to clump up at the end of the brush. I don't find I have a lot of smudging or over-application of the product like some mascaras that come out of the tube with "gobs" of black product on the end, and I don't ever have to clean up mistakes. I will re-purchase this mascara as long as it is around. -
