I received this foundation from CoverGirl. To be honest, my expectations weren't very high of it after purchasing a CoverGirl foundation years ago that was not a hit. But I decided to give this one a try, and it is a hit! It's come to replace the Clinique foundation I was using before. Luckily the Clean I received was just the right shade. I don't see any colour difference between my face and neck. I apply it with a makeup brush. It goes on really smoothly, and does not look overly thick, and doesn't run. It gives just the right smooth finish, with the right amount of coverage. Nicely done CoverGirl! -

I received this product to review from Aveeno. I have been sampling Shine for a couple of weeks, and after reading Jord's review, I'm looking forward to trying Soothe. This shampoo is supposed to restore the health of your hair after three washes. Now, I confess, I'm not really one to pay attention to the health of my hair, but I did start noticing after just a few washes that I had less flyaways and my hair appeared generally smoother. In terms of shine, however, I couldn't tell a difference.
This shampoo is probably a good one if you use a flat iron or heated tool on your hair on a regular basis like I do. I never know which shampoo to buy at the drugstore, and this is one I'll stick to because it performs noticeably differently than the ones I've previously used. I don't see a reason to use a salon shampoo over this one, unless you're concerned about something specific to your hair, like colour.

I received this product from CoverGirl, and I must say that for a drugstore brand, I am very impressed! I have been using department store brands for my makeup routine for a long time now, but this product works better and for a much lesser price. It works best to cover up dark under-eye circles - the yellow pigmentation of the product is meant to counteract the blue under your eyes. I also use it on other dark spots on my face. It doesn't completely mask their appearance but does reduce it. The corrector is a tad pricey for a drugstore brand, but it actually makes a difference and is a bargain compared to a department store brand. You also only need to a bit every time so I'm sure it will last me a long time. -

This book is of the same author who wrote "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood," which I read last summer and adored. The Ya-Ya characters return in "Little Altars Everywhere," however the book is a compilation of short stories rather than one whole story. Despite this matter, Altars is still very engaging! It's just as well written as the first one, and the scenes just have so much life to them.
What's unique about Altars is that each chapter, which is a different story from the last, is told from the perspective of a different character, and it's actually written like they would talk - strong Southern accents and everything! I had a hard time picking up on this at first, taking the accented words as spelling mistakes, but now I appreciate how true to the characters Wells is writing.
Pick up this book, you won't be disappointed!

I had dinner with a friend at By The Way on Saturday night. Neither of us had been there before, and decided we would try something new. When we walked in, I was surprised at how small the place was! It's probably the size of a standard living room. It almost made me feel ostracized for not being an Annex local. A lot of the people in there appeared to be regulars.
Still, I was excited at what was to come. We had missed our reservation, but the staff had a table ready for us in a short time. When it came to decide what to eat, I had no idea what to get, it all looked so good! I went with the sweet potato soup and the combination plate, which is two pita breads with hummus, baba ghanoush, tabouleh and Isreali salad. Everything was great, and surprisingly filling. However, soon after ordering I regretted not getting the skewers. They sounded like a more satisfying Saturday night meal.
I also had a glass of Australian Shiraz which was the server's recommendation, which I very much enjoyed. It's a wine I'll make a point to try again.
I can't wait to go back to By The Way. It's charming and casual, the food is delicious and healthy and the prices are great!

Dove sent me this product to review. I agree with most of the reviewers. It's a body wash, it does what it's supposed to do, but there's nothing outstanding about it. I was actually a little disappointed with the smell. Past cucumber-scented products I've tested have smelled great, but this one was just ordinary. -

I've been to the Yonge and St. Clair Il Fornello location twice, once to dine-in and once to take-out. I ordered from there with a friend just the other night. We decided to try some less conventional dishes, and were very pleased with our choices. We had the shrimp and calamari salad and the fig pizza. I was expecting the calamari to be fried, but was happy to find out it was grilled, which I much prefer. It tasted great the way they arranged it in their salad. I had no idea what to expect from the fig pizza, but was quite happy with it as well. I would definitely get it again.
Though the food isn't to-die-for, it was nice to try some Italian beyond Terroni, which is where I usually go for Italian.

I went to Blo on opening day with the ChickAdvisor staff. I had heard of the concept of strictly blow-dry and style salons, but had never been to one before, and I was really looking forward to it.
Blo is indeed a brand of its own. Stylists are called 'blo-ers' and the only flavour of vitamin water they serve is the red kind. The music plays really loudly in the blo area of the salon. This didn't bother me but I know some people who would not be fans. I was surprised that the chairs were plastic - a slight deviation from the cushioned chairs I expect to sit on at a hair salon. I soon realized that they're small and plastic so they can be easily moved and allow several people to sit at one bar at once. I felt a bit crowded by this concept at first, but it didn't bother me much.
I didn't get to look at the menu, but I already knew what I wanted done, and my blo-er agreed with me. The blo was surprisingly fast - it may have something to do with the fact that at one point, two blo-ers were working on my hair at once!
By the end, was hair was incredibly voluminous and glamourous. It wasn't quite what I had in mind, but after a few hours, my curls loosened and my hair became exactly what I had in mind. I was so happy with it I left in for several days later! (in fact I probably overdid it because when it came to washing it, I couldn't remember the last time my hair was that knotted).
The quality of the styling and the prices at Blo are both great. I missed the opportunity to relax and really enjoy my pampering as I would at an ordinary salon, and I did feel a bit rushed, but I would return to Blo if the occasion called for it.

I receive this body wash from Olay to review. It lasted me several months, and the smell is light and pleasant. I used to always use bar soap before I started using it. I would sometimes try a body wash every once and a while, but would always end up diverting back to bar soap because it makes it makes me feel cleaner (weird, I know). But - I didn't have that problem with this one. So it's a keeper! -
