I received a couple samples of this bar back when I was working for an animal sanctuary. I had forgotten about them until recently when I was doing some winter cleaning in my bathroom and they came tumbling off the top shelf of my medicine cabinet.
Since its winter, my skin has become very dry. Even when it looks okay, it feels awful. I had been experimenting with different facial lotions but nothing seemed to help me get rid of that feeling of dryness.
The first time I used the bar, I scrubbed way to hard. The bar has oatmeal, almond and walnut meal in it for exfoliating and I used it like I was buffing a car. A few days later, after the redness has dissipated, I tried again. This time, I gently moved the bar in circular motions across my face. That night it didn't seem any different, but I put on my calming cream and went to bed. The next morning, looking into my bathroom mirror, I noticed the difference.
A significant dry patch I had on my right cheek had almost disappeared. It wasn't visible any longer and when I touched it I could hardly feel it. Between the car waxing and the gentle exfoliating, I had managed to rid my face of that layer of dry, dead, winter skin.
I use the bars now every night before bed, finishing each time with a cream. I love that it is organic and all natural and the scent is light but sweet. I recommend this product for anyone else, man or woman, dealing with dry patch issues. Just remember not to be too hard on your skin.

This was my first real hair salon experience. Before this, I used to go to *shudders* Great Clips. I was young...and poor and didn't know better. Luckily, I'm still young (and poor) but I know better now.
This salon sits inside a local mall that was recently remodeled. After many years of having uncontrollable curly hair and straight hair envy, I finally decided to make the trip to a salon and fix it. I didn't want to go to just any salon though. In high school, my best friend went to get her hair done before prom but left the salon with what seemed to be a mouse colored helmet on her head. I decided I had to be smart, and I took $300 from my savings account and went on a trip around town.
It was important to me that the salon carried products that were not tested on animals. A consultant at the Sephora I go to told me about the Aveda only salon, so I decided to check it out. I was instantly fascinated by it when I walked in, the color scheme was soothing and zen like, and there was no harsh chemical smell in the air. I came prepared with several photographs to show the stylist what I wanted and several questions to learn how to do my hair.
A young stylist named Danielle was happy to help me. She was able to decipher my pictures and helped me pick out the right colors for my skin tone. And she was patient. I had not gotten my hair cut in over two years, so it fell in long curls down my back. It took a little over two hours to finish, but after two shampoos and a quick lesson in styling I went from looking frumpy to fabulous.
The haircut changed my life. Literally. And $150 to change your life is like chump change. I am still changing, but I have transformed from a frumpy, shy, bookworm to a sexy and successful beauty addict.
If anyone lives in the Capital District of NY and are considering a serious change in your hair, go to this salon. Every stylist is wonderful, while I was getting my cut I saw other women go through similar changes. They listen, they help, and they really care about how you feel.

My first impression of Red Bamboo was poor. It seemed like a hole in the wall vegan cafe and I wasn't sure how it had survived the high rent in NYC. It's dimly lit, the women at the register was rude and I was forced to stand to wait for a table while my ankles throbbed from a long day of walking around the city.
Then, I saw them. Vegan chicken wings. They looked enough like real wings to be appealing but not enough like them to be disgusting. They even came with dressing and celery. Then the previous frustrated cashier brought us drinks while we waited and we were seated shortly. When I saw the wings, they shifted my paradigm of the entire place.
While the lighting is dim, its a perfect balance for the zen/asian theme of the restaurant. Instead of feeling like a dive, it seemed cozy, serene, comfortable.
At our table, we were greeted by a sweet tattooed women with short black hair. She patiently waited while we figured out what we wanted to eat and helped our selection by telling us about her favorites.
We started our meal with the delicious BBQ Buffalo Wings with their Sesame Garlic Bleu Cheese dressing. They didn't last long at our table, and we considered ordering more to take home with us. Fortunately for my waist line, our main entree came shortly after we finished.
My boyfriend ordered Creole Soul Chicken, which included breaded soy chicken, delicious mashed potatoes and mixed veggies with homemade mushroom gravy. He finished the potatoes first, claiming they were the best ever made. Savoring the soy chicken, he munched on it slowly while I finished my meal.
I also had ordered another chicken dish. While I still ate animal products, I was never really a fan of chicken. However, out of most faux meat products they are my favorite. I had never eaten Bourbon chicken but I remember it being a favorite of my mom. I ordered the Grilled Bourbon Chicken dish, with jerk marinated soy chicken, a side of Basmati rice (my favorite) and mixed veggies. It was a delicious dish, but did not quite compare to the knock out flavor of the wings.
We finished off the night with a death by chocolate slice of cake from Vegan Treats Bakery. For only $50 (including tip) it was a wonderful treat for us.

This lip plumper is the best that Victoria's Secret has ever put out! Not only does it instantly make your lips look more voluptuous but the collagen microspheres and natural GABA make your lips softer and fuller with consistent use. After one day of using this lip plumper, my boyfriend noticed how great my lips felt and looked. I have been using this product for a week, and my lips look and feel so much healthier. -

I have been searching for a good facial cream for a long time after going vegan. I got a sample of this stuff from an event I attended and I was instantly in love. This cream has such a light heavenly scent, and it helped clear up the redness I had from winter dry skin. With this cream, a little bit goes a long way so you can expect your jar to last a long time. It's made especially with sensitive skin in mind, and with all natural ingredients you can't pass this deal up! -
