I’ll admit it. I married my husband because of his long, curly, luscious lashes. If I couldn’t have them, well at least one day my kids might. I’m mostly kidding, but as destiny would have it, I’m the only one in the household without a decent pair of eyelashes.
So you’ve got this woman who’s been blessed with spindly eyelashes resembling stubby spider legs that have been flat-ironed … and she’s given the opportunity to try out a new mascara. Can you say jump, and how high?
We’re talking about the Maybelline: New York Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara. Yes, VIBRATING!
I don’t wear mascara on a daily basis, usually just keeping it for special occasions. This stems from my contact lens wearing days, when I found most mascaras irritating. But now that I wear my glasses most of the time, and I’ve been told that my eyes are my best feature, it’s probably about time that I wore mascara for more definition. I’ve tried several in the past; and heck, I even own a battery operated eye-lash curling iron.
So I gave it a try. There’s a little tab where you hold the wand that once depressed, sends the wand vibrating. Putting it at the base of my lashes, and not moving it along too quickly to the tips, I did notice it clumped a bit. Likely because I was moving it too slowly. So I picked up the pace a bit, and was pleasantly surprised at how it lengthened and did make the lashes thicker, curling them at the end a bit as well.
The trick is not to apply too many coats, as the vibrating action surrounds your whole lash. But also don’t go too slowly as this causes clumps. The instructions on the packaging are quite good. It is really quite simple to use, and I especially noticed the difference on my lower lashes, which I find the most difficult or application to begin with. They were easily handled by this product. And although this wasn’t a waterproof product, it was quite long-lasting. For that reason, it took a little more makeup remover to take off at the end of the day.
So overall I did like this mascara. The vibrating wand may seem a bit gimmicky, but it does appear to work on building up the lash. I would likely buy it again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others to try.

So a recent Monday ago, I was doing my grocery run and had about 5 minutes to spare to look at the Joe Fresh line of cosmetics. With prices between $4 and $14, it was no surprise that the shelves were already mostly bare. Decisions, decisions.
I lined the back of my hand with all the different colours of lipstick available, but had to rush out to be on time for kindergarten pickup. And thankfully had time for beauty consultations with the other pickup Moms milling about before the kids tumbled out with their backpacks.
Which colours did I choose?
Berry and Watermelon.
Perfectly spring.

I did luck out on a pink lip gloss that was left. And at first I thought it would be too pink... but putting it on, it was quite sheer and looked just right. I find as I get older, lip gloss does tend to be more forgiving (no bleeds, is nice and shiny and highlights the lips, making them seem fuller and not so lined). And Hello Kitty is so cute... makes me feel younger. Now I just have to fight my daughter for it!

I bought my first pair of yoga pants when my daughter was about 10 months old. I wondered whether I could pull it off, with some of my extra post-partum weight still on ... but I had nothing to fear, and the fit and the feel were wonderful. And my ass hadn't looked that great in a long time!
I've been addicted ever since, and used to wear them only in the gym during yoga, pilates, hip hop aerobics... but now I'm even wearing them everyday. The Luon fabric is wonderful, even after a sweaty workout, you never feel "sticky" and the colours and the styles are wonderful. And they are wash and wear. Don't have to worry about wrecking them in the dryer, as long as you wash like with like (no towels please).
From young kids to grandparents, there's a style to suit everyone.
The products are on the pricey side, but worth every penny, especially if there is a sale.

Do you ever wonder whether the colour of the season will really look that good... and then what to do with the rest of the polish in the bottle when it doesn't look great?
I found the perfect solution when I picked up OPI Cafe Cuties in the French Cafe collection for Fall last year. The beauty of it is that you can try the different colours, and the fast-dry top coat is fantastic...all for just a little more than one bottle of one shade only. It was because of this that I discovered "Eiffel for this colour" which is still a great shade to transition into spring. These tiny little bottles get used before the polish thickens. No wastage!
I'm hopeful that they have similar collections for Spring 2009.

I love this foundation. I've used it for the last couple of years, and I was first interested because I have been a lifelong sufferer of acne. it was one thing to have acne as a teen and young adult, but then as a mother and now even in my 40s, it's not much fun.
I found that CoverFX lived up to expectations. The number of options in terms of colour were great, as it was fairly easy to match my Asian complexion. It covered up my redness and scars, and the finishing powder goes on so easily taking the shine right off. The foundation brush is a must have for the application as well. It feels very comfortable as well, not cakey at all.
Excellent product, I would highly, highly recommend it.

I needed a pick me up for spring and popped into Sephora. I was looking for something that would do double-duty and the packaging, and 2-in-1 concept suited me well. It's a lipstain, there's lipgloss, and you can also use the stain on your cheeks. Just brush it on, and rub it in. You have to make sure that you keep the stain on the bottom of the pen, or you'll find the the colour all over you.
Well, it's not the most longlasting stain, and it bled very quickly once applied on my lips. I don't know if it's just a property of the stain itself (it's the first stain I've used) but it bled even after I put lipliner on (which sort of defeats the purpose of a stain in the first place). The stain on the cheek did have a nice effect, but I found most of the stain ended up on my finger, rather than my cheek.
I wasn't too impressed with the product, especially for the price.
