Most people wouldn't want anything that vibrates anywhere near their peepers, but Maybelline's Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara may actually be the one thing that you do. I was wary at first of the vibration, but if you let the wand do the work (kind of like an automatic toothbrush) than the result is a flawless application. It went on smooth: no clumps, no heaviness and no mess. The vibration did feel kind of weird, but it can still be applied without it. When I went sans pulse, the results were only that of an average mascara, with maybe a little extra length. It was definitely fun to try the new technology and I would recommend giving it a shot, but when this tube runs out, I probably won't rush out to buy another. -

This is such a sister book! It does deal with heavier issues, but it's good for anyone with a sibling relationship. It's the type of relationship that is hard to put into words, but Gabriele does in this book. You also get a taste of the glamourous world of New York city life in juxtaposition with farm life. And it's definitely not chick lit, so if that's the vibe you get from the cover, don't be fooled. Also really captures family dynamics really well. It's real.
Definitely recommend it, I loved it!

It is a high-end line and therefore an expensive one, but it's one of those products that you try, and you never go back to another. The cuticle oil smells like expensive candy and essential oils and quenches cuticles and nail beds upon application.The texture is silky, not oily and it absorbs quickly. I definitely reccommend this product, and this product line. -

The distillery district in Toronto is very European: stone streets and old buildings with high ceilings and exposed brick walls. Balzac's represents this vibe authentically. Not only do the fresh coffee, lattes, cappuccinos and hot chocolates taste amazing, they look amazing.

I was interviewing Jill Dunn, the beauty editor at Glow Magazine, for a school assignment, and the conversation was quickly steered towards beauty products. I asked her what her favourite products were and her top mascara choice was this one. Naturally I went out and bought it-and I wan't dissapointed. With just one coat my eyelashes were practically touching my hairline. It was long-lasting and didn't smudge throughout the day. The price point was a little high, but worth every penny. Lashes are lush with this product, and I got quite a few compliments as soon as I started using it! It's also great for a more dramatic night time look if you apply 2-3 coats.
I think this could become a cult beauty product!

Spice Route is one of the trendiest restaurants in Toronto right now. I couldn't get the reservation time I wanted (on a Monday night!) because a movie with Julianne Moore was being filmed there until 7pm. I booked anyways, and I'm glad I did. Even on a Monday night, the restaurant was packed with reccessionistas, Trendy King West-ers and Bay Street bankers out for an after work drink. The ambiance was dim lighting, rich dark wood and Asian inspired decorating. I went with 3 of my girlfriends and everyone was really satisfied with the experience.
Upon arrival at the restaurant we were welcomed by the subdued and cozy torches lighting the outside entrance way followed by a perky greeting from the hostess. We were promptly shown to our table and offered drinks. I ordered a cosmo martini-my go-to drink, which was served in a stemless martini glass with a strawberry floating in it (the best way to eat fruit!) We were then asked if we had been there before and because we hadn't the waitress explained the way the way the menu works. The portion sizes are large and meant to be shared, and food groups come separately (meat, veggie and noodles/rice) If you order one of each food group, it can feed your whole table. I ended up ordering two appetizers to myself instead: naan bread with three different dips and vegetable pakora with Yogurt dip. Both were delicious. The girls went with the sharing option and got lemon chicken and noodles. We were all left very satisfied with money still in our wallets. For the lush decor and quality of food and service, the price point was very low, only $75 for the four of us.
We left deciding that we would definitely book our next parties, events or birthdays in their pink lounge area. (pictured) All together, Spice Route was a gorgeous Toronto locale with great food-just don't forget to make a reservation!
