Must Have iPhone App
Especially if you're like me and trying to lose some weight.
I made a decision earlier this week that I needed to make some changes in my life and spend a bit more time focusing on what would make me a happier & healthier person. I need to lose a big chunk of weight and the best way for me to start is to get moving and make healthier eating choices.
iMapMyWalk is fantastic! I found it while searching for a GPS mapping/pedometer app. It's so simple and easy to use. You just click record a workout, hit start and off you go. When you're done hit stop and you're done. After that you can choose to update your Facebook or Twitter with your stats (time, distance & map) from your walk. They also have a website that you can connect to that offers you much more.

First of all (and this goes for all Lego building sets) I don't know why they can't package the pieces together in a way that makes more sense. In this game the instructions tell you to sort the colours into the tray that's provided. Why can't they just package them in the same colour! So after a few minutes of sorting pieces we got everything all set up and decided to play in the Collaborative mode (you can also play as Teams or with just 1 builder or with just 1 guesser). The goal of the game is to roll the dice to determine which category you'll build from (Transportation, Nature, Buildings, or Things) then pick a card which can be easy, medium, or hard difficulty. You look at the appropriate picture on the card and try to replicate it using the assortment of Lego pieces provided. The other players try to guess what you're building.
It was fun but my boys were both more interested in just building whatever they wanted. Then Q would want to finish building his thing even after someone had guessed it. C's strategy was to wait & see what it was when the builder was done. Then he wondered why he didn't have as many points. Well if you wait until the end the chances are someone else will have already guessed it correctly. The boys and I played together for probably an hour and then I left them to just play and build what they wanted. They're still down there having fun.
I do think Q is a bit too young still because he kept having to turn the card over to see what he was supposed to be building and even C had a hard time not blurting out what he was building. That being said Lego is always a good choice in our family since it helps with imaginative play and fine motor skills.

Total cook time was 4-5 minutes and it was ready to eat after cooling for another 1-2 minutes. As with all the WW meals I`ve tried so far this one didn`t disappoint in the flavour department and left me feeling satisfied, after I topped off my lunch with some fresh fruit (cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, & pineapple). It had a nice tang & spice level to it. I would have liked more than the 3 pieces of broccoli I found in it, the red pepper was pretty non-existant, & I felt a bit like I was eating a tree with the bamboo shoots. The meat to rice to veggie ratio overall was good and I loved how much sauce there was. It is not the best one I had but might try it again in the future. -

Total cook time was 4 1/2 minutes and it was ready to eat after cooling for another 1-2 minutes. I have to tell you I overcooked it by 30 seconds and the noodles were all stuck together. Also I got 1 piece of chicken that was a bit rubbery and other with a bit of gristle stuck to it. So, that really turned me off my lunch. The peanut sauce was nice and zesty just like it says on the box but it was really the only thing this meal had going for it. Once again not enough veggies. 2 thumbs down. -

When I saw this game on the clearance shelf in our local pharmacy I snatched it up. Regular price of $14.99, marked down to $3.99 - what a steal! And because it had animals on it even better for my oldest son. I didn't even bother to examine the box in the store or read the description. Just looking at it and seeing it was for ages 4 and meant for 2-4 players was good enough for me.
So, I was pleasantly surprised when I took it home to them and discovered how environmentally friendly this game was! There is NO extra packaging with this game. None! It's not wrapped in shrink wrap to protect the box. No plastic baggies sealing all the parts. No extra carboard to hold things in place inside the box. There were 2 small stickers sealing the box closed on 2 sides. When you open it up you're amazed to discover the bottom of the box is the playing board! The instructions are printed on the paper bag which holds the wooden playing pieces. It's brilliant! All the wood and paper comes from responsible sources plus the whole thing is recyclable if it were ever to get badly damaged or something tragic. And the bottom of the box tells you a story about a WWF species. This game features the Rhinoceros. Did you know a rhino's horn grows continuosly throughout it's life? Or that adult rhinos can run at speeds of up to 40mph?
The game's premise is basically that of Parcheesi. The object of the game is to be the first player to place all 4 of their pieces into the watering hole. My boys had no problem figuring out how to play this game. I liked that fact that there's no reading involved beyond the initial rules because my 7 year old still struggles with reading. As per usual though with my kids they made up there own way to play with each of them taking 2 sets of animals. Hey whatever made them happy is fine with me!
