If you are jonzing for a healthy alternative to a dinner out, I would STRONGLY urge you to try this tiny little restaurant that's been in Scarborough for more than 20 years.
A friend had raved about it to me once, and so another friend and I decided after our post workout insane hunger urges to hit this joint.
Upon first glance, it looks like it probably has never really had a decor update since the 80s, but you can TOTALLY look beyond the decor when your food is delivered to the table. If you like falafel, pita, hummus, tabuleh, shish kebab and shwarma , then THIS is the place for you.
The staff is so friendly and the dinner is SO affordable (2 can eat for 20 bucks!) and the portion size is great, you can totally over look the decor. A great place to go mid week when you're too lazy to cook.
Don't forget the lentil soup....I always get some to go!

If you want to get together with your girlfriends for a DELICIOUS AND AFFORDABLE meal, I highly recommend Green Eggplant. Located nestled in Queen East in the Beach, this restaurant usually has line up's out the door. The trendy and warm decor (complete with brick walls and cozy ambiance) makes for a great place to get together with the girls or even a date. In the summertime, the front windows are wide open, so aim for a table in the front to make for some GREAT people watching. Queen East is ALWAYS busy with people and traffic and interesting things to look at during the summer.
As for the food - it's all DELICIOUS. The salads are what makes Green Eggplant famous......the portion size is large and my personal favourite is the Filet Minon salad with a couple of skewers of jumbo shrimp. The sweet potato fries are delish, the burgers have extra special toppings like roasted red peppers and feta and the pasta is really a home run. I can't ever say that I've ever been disappointed with anything I've ever ordered here.
And the frozen cocktails? OMG so much fun....! Strawberry Daiquiries and Pina Coladas in the summer....what a great way to end a day at the beach!
You've GOT to try it out.
