The Heineken Mini-Keg, or Heinekeg, is an awesome addition to any house party or BBQ. It's fairly inexpensive and the keg usually comes with two (nice) Heineken beer glasses and a whole bunch of coasters. The only downside is that if you get a number of the kegs over the years, as I've done, you end up with an overwhelming amount of glasses! -

If you're looking to tour the Niagara wine region I'd definitely put this place on your list! Their 100% appassimento wines, while rather expensive, are the nicest reds I've ever had! -

You put it in your freezer and when you're ready to drink, you put it in the bottle and can drink right through it. The downside (and this may be because it was the first time I used it) is that it has a strange taste that effects the taste of the beer. Also, it didn't really make the beer any colder...but that could be due to the massive heat-wave we're currently experiencing. -

This is a really neat product that you put in your freezer and then into a white-wine bottle to keep it cool when you're drinking far from your fridge and don't have an ice bucket. It's essentially a cork with a synthetic icicle on the end that you insert into the bottle. I'd imagine it's rather effective although we always manage to drink the entire bottle before it can be truly battle-tested. One thing it's great for is a stocking-stuffer for the wine-enthusiasts in your family! -

Just visited a little sports bar in St Catharines - Kully's Original Sports Bar. We are in the middle of a heat wave and wanted to go somewhere air-conditioned....which Kully's was not! Other than the unbearable heat and the fact that they (at 9pm) were down to FOUR chicken wings on wing night (which of course we ordered) the bar is pretty great! They have an amazing selection of craft beer (and on Monday's it's $6 a pint!) and the food is decent bar food. I'm on the search for the perfect jalapeno popper and unfortunately Kully's does not have it, but there's are pretty good for those who (unlike myself) don't care for super spicy. Overall I'd recommend it as a place to watch the game and drink beer. -

I recently bought a darling little set of Betty Crocker Measuring Spoons from Dollarama (very cheap!) and they work great! Moving from a student house I realized that there were many kitchen appliances I didn't have. A quick trip to the Dollar Store got me all sorts of lovely red Betty Crocker gadgets that were cheap but nice looking and effective. I definitely recommend! -

These are delicious teething cookies that are great for both caregiver and child! I have been feeding them to younger siblings and babies I look after for years and sneaking one for myself every once in a while is a definite benefit. They come from a brand that I feel I can trust and I will definitely stock up when I have children of my own! -

I signed up for Netflix about a year ago mostly because they offered a free month and I thought I'd give it a try. I signed up and added profiles for my partner and I, and my roommate. A year later and I'm still with the service and happily paying... +
I signed up for Netflix about a year ago mostly because they offered a free month and I thought I'd give it a try. I signed up and added profiles for my partner and I, and my roommate. A year later and I'm still with the service and happily paying $7.99 a month! The shows and movies on Netflix are getting better and better (currently watching Hannibal - great!) and since they added Friends (my all-time favourite) I've become a permanent devotee. I definitely recommend it!
One caveat: if you have a tendency to binge-watch tv shows, Netflix will definitely enable you to keep doing so. A nice (and guilt-inducing) touch is that every so often they play a minute long video advertising the benefits of turning off your computer and going to sleep!

This is a great local coffee shop based out of London Ontario with locations all over the city. They serve hand-roasted artisan coffee along with many other typical cafe beverages. Their coffee is delicious (from someone who adds nothing to coffee, so the taste is paramount!) and bags of their beans (which they will grind onsite for you if you wish) are very reasonably priced for their quality. Highly recommend! -
