I originally bought this cat food for the stray kitten I was feeding. Knowing she was constantly on the move outdoors, I felt good knowing that she was full of food that had enough calories to sustain her growth.
After I caught her and brought her indoors, I continued to feed her this mixed with my other kitten's Royal Canin food. To my great surprise, my other kitten who is a notoriously picky eater took a liking to this food. At first I thought the good example set for him by the former stray kitten's willingness to eat anything was helping him grow out of his pickyness. But then I tried them on a couple other brands of food and again he was unwilling to eat while former stray kitten didn't mind. There must be something about Nutro's flavour that my picky kitten likes in particular.
I did worry about weight gain with this recipe's high calorie content, but both cats seem alright at self regulating their intake. I do portion feed as well. I would like to repurchase this, but I can't seem to find it in any of my nearby Petsmarts anymore.

This was the very first kibble I ever fed my kitten. I was very excited by the recipe. I loved that it was high in protein and lower in carbohydrates and used low glycemic ingredients. The creator of the brand was concerned with the growing amount of obese and diabetic pets and so was I. The first four ingredients are multiple sources of meat (Deboned Turkey, Turkey Meal, Chicken Meal, Deboned Cod) rather than plant based protein sources. Apparently even Michael Phelps endorses this brand!
My high hopes were met with great disappointment when i realized my kitten absolutely hated this food. I tried feeding it to him for a considerable amount of time until I started worrying that he wasn't growing properly because he wasn't consuming enough to support his development. He is still a particularly small cat to this day. I thought that maybe he just hated kibble in general until we tried him on a few other brands of cat food (Royal Canin is his holy grail cat food that he prefers over wet food) that he was much more willing to eat. The texture and flavour needs to be worked on before he'd be willing to eat this again. He prefers cat foods that have a much crunchier texture and a stronger, saltier flavour. Nulo has sort of crumbly texture when you bite into it. I wonder if that is because of it's low carb recipe since carbs are what give kibbles its shape. It is a shame because I loved the concept and the price, but in the end my cat has the final say.

I bought this product initially hoping to have found an alternative to Royal Canin's kitten food. I was looking for something in the same range of quality at a slightly lower price. With high hopes, I opened the bag for my kittens to try.
Now I have one kitten that is a former stray. She eats anything. So of course she didn't seem to mind this food and dug right in. However, my other kitten is notoriously picky and loves his Royal Canin even over wet cat food. He didn't hate this food, but I could tell he wasn't particularly excited by it either.
I decided to try the kibbles to see for myself what the difference was. Purina pro plan had a great texture. Super crunchy. But the flavour and scent was much milder than Royal Canin's. Kind of like eating a saltine cracker vs. a Dorito. Also, I do wish that chicken meal was the top ingredient rather than chicken. Pet food brands are aware that having meat as the first ingredient looks good and when chicken is weighed with its water weight included it makes me wonder just how much meat is in a product.
I'll finish the bag and probably go back to my old cat food. If your cat is not a picky eater than this would probably be a good purchase to make, but unfortunately mine is...

I used to think that Royal Canin was a bad brand of cat food. Without doing much research I was caught up into the belief that grain free must be better and that any cat foods containing any corn were low quality.
The reality is that grain free for the most part is a marketing gimmick. Kibbles need carbohydrates to keep their form. Even when a product calls itself grain free, the corn is just replaced by other products such as peas which wouldn't be part of a cat's ancestral diet either. In fact, I've read that in grain free dog foods, the higher amount of legumes can interfere with a dog's ability to synthesize taurine. I'm not saying grain free foods are bad for cats though, just not necessarily better.
One does have to keep in mind that cats don't have a dietary need for carbohydrates and probably do better on wet cat foods with lower carbs. Despite knowing this, I still feed dry food because of it's convenience and affordability. I feed Royal Canin knowing that their formulations are based on science and veterinary research rather than catering to people's feelings. I'm happy that they have vets on their team and that they do feeding trials to make sure their foods are appropriate. My cats stools are small and don't smell too much so I do believe them when they say that their cat food is designed to be highly digestible. Their food is also the tastiest compared to other brands. The texture is crunchy when you bite into it compared to other brands that crumble like dirt and it has a strong scent and flavour that my cats prefer over other brands too.

There are a lot of sub par rat foods out there; ones that come in the form of seed mixes that encourage unhealthy unbalanced eating, or contain far too much protein for long term adult rat consumption. Oxbow rat food is not one of these foods.
It comes in a kibble format so rats can't be picky and only eat the parts they like and I like that the protein is at 15%. Even though baby rats do need higher protein levels, I prefer to feed this food over Oxbow's food for younger rats and just supplement with high protein foods such as egg. I trust that this product is nutritionally balanced. It is corn free for people who are concerned with their rats consuming corn because of the french studies they did with GMO corn and rats growing tumors or for people concerned with potential mold and mycotoxins in corn.
Oxbow did have some issues with the palatability of this food if I recall, but I believe that later reformulations did improve the flavour. Oxbow has been very receptive of feed back from the rat keeping community and I respect that. My rats were happy to eat it. It is very expensive for how small the bag is but I trust that it is a high quality product and that makes it worth it in my eyes.

Seachem prime is my absolute favourite water conditioner. It requires only two drops per gallon so it is cheaper to use than any other I've tried. Not only does it dechlorinate water, but it also binds ammonia and renders it harmless. Perfect to use to protect your fish if your tank is uncycled. The only problem is that it does smell like sulfur so do keep the lid twisted on very tight and DO NOT spill it. -

I have been feeding my two kittens fancy feast canned foods since the day they each came home. One of them, a former stray, will eat anything and happily gobbles this down every morning. My other cat is much pickier and does prefer dry food. However, I strongly believe that it is important for owners to try to increase their cat's water intake to ward off kidney problems. Fancy feast gravy lovers is one of the wet foods that my picky cat is willing to eat. He likes the chicken and beef flavours but isn't a big fan of the fish flavours. I don't know if I could say this is the highest quality of wet cat food out there, but you can't beat the price. -
