I just finished reviewing good ice cream so I had to come and review the worst I've ever had. Beyers used to be a staple in my household growing up. Dad loved his heavenly hash, mum loved pralines and cream, I'd take whatever was in the freezer. I've noticed my family still buys this stuff, probably because it's cheap and they have that brand loyalty mentality, but this stuff has changed so much that it isn't even ice cream any more! It's disgusting and so unhealthy for you, it's just a bunch of gross artificial crap, it tastes and feels like fluffy whip gone bad. Their claim to fame is that it doesn't melt, but that's not something to brag about. Ice cream should melt. Hence the ice part. Why even keep it frozen? You can actually store it on your counter, but why would you?! Please if you're still eating this unhealthy garbage, splurge and buy real ice cream. You deserve better. -

My husband and I began our search for better ice cream when I was severely grossed out by vanilla Breyers (don't touch that stuff it isn't real ice cream any more). Kawartha is a little more money than other brands but 100% worth it. The Moose Tracks was the first we tried and it was love at first scoop. We've since tried several other flavours and while they are good some are are pretty ordinary. They do chocolate really well, although I appreciate the flavours that have mix-ins because it allows for bursts of different flavours and textures. Sometimes mix-ins will settle at the bottom of the carton due to the manufacturing process and we've had flavours that barely have any mix-ins, imagine Moose Tracks without any Tracks! But they're customer service is super friendly and efficient so drop them a line if you ever get a bucket that seems like it's lacking! -

Just cracked open a tin to share for Easter and I have to admit I'm disappointed. We've had Quality Street every year for Christmas since I as born, in the 80's, and while I haven't eaten many pieces in the last decade I can certainly tell the recipe and manufacturing has changed substantially, but the price of course has stayed expensive. I know they've added and removed chocolates from the list, and I feel the absence of the classics that are now gone. The chocolate is weirdly not like chocolate any more, it used to be a really flavorful milk chocolate but now it tastes like fake chocolate. The creams are more artificial, overly sweet and stale. The chocolate coatings are paper thin. I remember the joy and wonder in seeing the shiny tempered chocolate coatings crackle when bitten and to see the layering. The chocolates now are skimpier, smaller and possibly not even tempered correctly. It makes me suspicious that no where on the tin does it indicate that these are in fact chocolates! They're referred to as sweets. Also, there are pictures of the chocolates that they got rid of still on the tin, what a tease! For the price and quality you're better off supporting your local chocolatier instead. I give two stars only because my nan still loves them but I think for her it's more about brand loyalty because she's British and these are quintessentially British. -
