Nyood (pronounce like "feud") is located in the trendy hip area of Queen W. and Dovercourt. I had planned my bestfriend's b-day dinner here for something different other than sushi. My friends were late so I had to push back the reservation which they happily accommodated on a busy Saturday night and Thanksgiving long-weekend. Staff was extremely friendly. They have coat check so the nice hostess took my jacket and seated me right away. The decor is very cool, trendy with an artsy feel. Over us hung a huge chandelier made out of what looked like black cable - very interesting to look at to say the least. I was alone for about 10 minutes but our server took my drink order right away and brought out some appetizers of olives and corn nuts? Weird combo but tasted good. I order a Pink Beauty cocktail which is named after one of my fave Canadian makeup lines Pink Beauty! It was soo good - Soho liqueur, Grey Goose Vodka, Grapefruit juice, and Chandon.
When my friends finally arrived, the server informed us that if any of us got cold he could provide a pashmina! How sweet is that?? The restaurant has a tapas menu so its meant for ordering a few dishes to share among friends. It's recommended if you are going out with a big group because if there are only a few of you you have to order a lot just so you can have a full meal! Plus, it becomes very costly. The plates are rather small for the price but each dish tasted exquisite! Loved the Spring Salad (avocado, watermelon, and feta cheese) and the Lychee Ceviche (lychee, shrimp, and cucumbers). They are also known for their flat breads - loved the Rustic Tomato Flatbread.
It's a great spot if you want to look fabulous and eat/drink amongst fabulously looking people. The ambiance is very chill in a hip sophisticated way. DJ supplied the vibes which at times was a little loud but otherwise set the mood. Definitely recommended to go with a big group or on a date - what's more intimate than sharing food and feeding one another? haha. Great too if you're trying to watch your figure - don't go if you're expecting a huge meal. I was still a little hungry when I got home but the good service and awesome tasting food made it worth it. After dinner you can chill at the bar/lounge area or take a quick jaunt down the street to The Drake!

I love a lot of products from Stila and the line's Convertible Color's are one of them. I have Peony, which is a nice neutral pinky-brown. The colour is very pigmented and gives your cheeks a dewy finish. You can definitely build the colour until you've reached the desired colour. I also love to layer this under powder blushes to intensify the colour and to make it long-lasting. It is creamy on the lips and doesn't dry out lips. I love the packaging as well. Comes with handy mirror for touch-ups. This is especially great if you have dry or mature skin. -

I had never heard of Canadian beauty brand, Beaute Cosmetics, until I saw it while perusing the counters at Holt Renfrew. When I got a couple to test out I was super excited! I love lip stains but have a hard time finding one that doesn't dry out my lips. Beaute's is a gel so it feels very smooth going on and doesn't dry out the lips. The product is very pigmented so a little goes a long way which justifies the high price. It's also dual purpose - you can use it for a flush of colour on the cheeks. The stain is long-lasting so if you use your fingers to apply on either the lips or cheeks it will stain your skin. It eventually comes off but if you're running out the door not so pretty lol. Use a lip brush or blush brush or sponge to apply on the cheeks. It has a sponge so if applying directly wipe off excess before blending on lips. I have Fever and Neon. Fever is a gorgeous deep red. Wear on its own for naturally stained lips or layer underneath your favourite lipstick for intense full colour. I've been using this lately under my Urban Decay Gash and MAC Diva lipstick and have received many compliments! Neon is a bright orange and warms up your complexion. Love this more for Spring/Summer on bronzed skin. Definitely a staple in my beauty stash! -

Let me start off by saying that I don't really have anything to compare it to. I have not joined the 21st century yet which means I have neither a Blackberry or iPhone. I have a slide phone from Samsung. I was really excited to test out the new Palm Pre because it has the best of both worlds: touch screen and a keyboard.
Pros: touch screen (you can zoom in and out)
Big screen (3.1 inch colour screen - viewing internet and photos are really clear)
Takes pretty good photos (3 megapixel camera with LED flash)
Browsing the web and messaging is pretty easy with full keyboard
Automatically pulls from your contacts and calendars
Google maps and GPS app.
Cons: Touch screen - I found it be very sensitive. Dialing a # for example, was very annoying if I pressed a wrong number.
Not very intuitive - I found it difficult dialing a # normally. Usually you can just press a button to dial a # but I had to go to the phone screen each time to make a call. You can dial the # using the # pad but you have to still touch the phone screen for it to dial through. When you're in a hurry, this can be very frustrating.
Received errors when syncing email - I followed the exact instructions and even had my husband try it out and I still couldn't sync my mail properly. I could receive emails but not reply. Google mail does not support the Palm Pre yet either so I had to get my mail manually by going through the web. I also noticed syncing email slowed down my mail when I was checking it on my computer. I eventually had to delete my mail account off of my phone so it would work on my computer.
Sound quality is bad - I received many comments saying that I sounded far away and that the sound was not very clear. When I called back on my Samsung phone they said I sounded much clearer.
Weight is heavy - The slide screen plus the keyboard make this one heavy phone.
All in all, when I am ready to get a new phone I think I will go with a Blackberry. And after hearing other negative experiences from people that have tried the Palm Pre I am not sold on it. The concept of a touch screen phone is pretty cool but I just don't think it is for me. I might reconsider if iPhone comes out with one that has both touchscreen and a keyboard though!

I love this deep sensual fragrance from Armani. I've been wearing this almost everyday since I got it. It has a sophisticated yet sexy scent to it. Very feminine but in a strong way - if that makes sense! It's a heavier than your typical light day fragrance but I don't find it too strong for day at all. I love the bottle it comes in as well. Elegant and luxurious.
top notes: dazzling bitter orange, juicy pear, ginger and davana.
middle notes: audacious rose loukoum and mythical jasmine blended boldly with saffron absolute, creating a honey-coloured subtle spicy note.
base notes: luminous and sensual, unexpected styrax, patchouli and vetiver.

I have to agree - this 8 hour balm is effective in curing dry flaky skin. Yes, the smell is less than desiring but it works! It's too thick for everyday use but it soothes sensitive skin or flaky spots. This is the best during the winter and when you have a cold. A co-worker of mine had a sore, red nose from blowing it too much and I gave her this balm and it instantly went away! The flakiness disappeared and she was able to apply cover-up over top without it settling into the cracked skin. I use this also as a hand cream and lip balm when my hands are severely dry and when my lips are super chapped. Definite must-have! -

I purchased the entire pro line using my makeup artist discount and it was well worth the money. I have used it for every makeup job I've done. The foundation is silicone based so it "float's onto the skin" meaning it never settles in the fine lines or pores. It blurs any imperfections including fine lines or wrinkles. I love using this for photography because it wears really well and lasts all day. The formulas is water-proof and sweat-resistant. The texture is a liquid that goes on light but covers very well. It is also buildable so if you need more coverage just add more. Many of my clients that I have used it on say it doesn't even feel like they're wearing anything. You can really notice the difference in photos - skin looks flawless without looking cakey. The little bottles are also very portable but the caps can sometimes break if there is a lot of weight on it. Definitely one of the best foundations I've used. Cheaper version of Giorgio Armani's popular foundation line. -

I have to agree - this peachy warm-toned blush would look fabulous on any skin tone. It's not shimmery or too matte. The texture is easy to blend and is well pigmented. I was trying to find a peach toned blush that didn't have too much pink in it and when I got to try this one from Smashbox I knew I had found it! This looks great with a variety of shadow colours or looks great when you want a natural look and want your cheeks to have a warm flush of colour. The colour is also long-lasting as well. Love the handy mirror for touch-ups! -

The pointed foundation brush from aDesign is the first pointed brush I've tried. I really love the brushes from this brand because the handles are not wooden and don't peel. The hairs also never fall out. You can use this brush to apply foundation all over and it's especially great for getting into all the small places like under the eye and around the nose. I bought this at the Canadian Makeup Show in Toronto at cost for $19 - it's normally $36 USD which is pretty standard compared to MAC. It's definitely worth the price! -

This one of my favourite brushes that I use frequently on myself or on a client. It's great for applying many things and creating different affects. I use this for buffing on powder for a natural effect, liquid and cream foundation for a buffed/airbrushed effect, and for applying cream blushes. The bristles are so soft on the skin - women always comment on how amazing it feels on their skin every time I use it. It's definitely worth the price and a great investment that will last you a long time. -
