Zoya is great for coming out with fashion-forward products but I'm not sure I'm totally on board with their new collection MatteVelvet. I think the matte texture concept is a cool alternative to the normal shiny finish and looks good the first day. But after the 2nd day it starts to chip away and not in the cool way (yes there is such a thing!). It's not just a tiny chip but chips so big it looks like you haven't done your nails in a month! I also have normally dry hands so I felt like it enhanced that. I do prefer Zoya's over OPI's matte versions though. You're not supposed to apply a base or top coat or else it will lose the matte effect, but I find without a base it will stain your nails if it's a dark colour and without a top coat it doesn't last long. Apparently OPI has a top coat for matte polishes which I haven't tried yet so it might make a difference...My favourite colour out of the collection is Posh, a ruby red with tiny silver flecks. I'd recommend if you like to change your polish often and don't care about chipping and if you love trendy new things. -

I've been wanting to try Bobbi Brown's award-winning Long-Wear Cream Shadows after hearing so many great things about them. I absolutely adore these shadows! They really are heavy-duty long-wearing shadows that don't crease or budge all day. Even with this fact they are still really easy to blend. I have this shadow in Galaxy, a deep silver shimmer that has a subtle purplish undertone. I love it and it looks great layered with a smokey charcoal, deep purple, or navy. It's a great product if you don't have a lot of time to do makeup - just swipe on the lids and add a few coats of mascara. :) -

I too am a fan of this mascara! I did a review of Lancome's Oscillation and Estee Lauder's on my site when it first came out and also preferred Lancome's. With Lancome's I only need 2 coats for my lashes to stand out. The Estee Lauder version took 4 coats to stand out. The only time my lashes have ever looked this extreme are when I apply fake lashes! From far away or in photos my lashes looked fabulous, but up-close it was just a clumpy mess! To get the clumps out I had to use a razor sharp eyelash brush to comb through it. The oscillating brush definitely makes a difference with lift and coating each lash. However, the tiny rubber-like bristles and oscillation don't seem to do a good job of separating and de-clumping. The whole process is really slow - start at the root and slowly work your way up. I was also told I wouldn't need an eyelash curler but I definitely do. The formula seems so heavy it weighs down my barely-there lashes. I would have given it a higher rating if it weren't for the clumping, but the faux lash effect has got me! If you're going to come out with an innovative mascara with a high price your lashes better look dramatically different! -

Benefit's Erase Paste is a staple in my makeup bag for my dark circles but I love using Boi-ing to cover up any blemish on my face! I was expecting it to look and feel really heavy since it is an industrial-strength concealer, but it felt light-weight and the texture was easy to blend. I also found that it only took one dab to cover up the area and I'm talking a red, inflamed area! I'm using #3 which is the darkest and has a warm peach undertone perfect for discolouration like dark circles or redness. I've said this before about Benefit - it would be great if the brand extended their colour line to suit more skin tones. If you have dark-deep dark skin apply first, then use a foundation that matches your skin tone over top. Otherwise, another winning product for Benefit! -

Sweet Olenka's is a hidden little treasure in the Etobicoke/Lakeshore W. area. It has become my new favourite chocolatier/icre cream place since we moved to the neighbourhood! We found the place by chance just driving by when we saw a sign that said "homemade icecream"! It's a tiny little store but it is heaven. They make the icre cream at the store and have these amazing flavours like "Black Forest Cake" that is made with real cake, "Sangria" which has a nice sorbet texture and yummy tropical Sangria flavour, and "Creme Brule" which tastes exactly like the decadent dessert! They also have homemade chocolates like Rocky Road which I bought yesterday - delish! The whole store is peanut-free too. I love finding little gems like this - one of the many reasons I love living in Toronto! -

Mmm Pina Colada lip balm smells just like the yummy drink! My lips always feel moisturized and chap-free. I also love that Kiss My Face products are organic and all-natural. My 3 yr old is addicted to Just Peachy and since it's all natural I don't mind if he goes a little overboard applying all over his face - err lips! -

I love organic products especially for the lips. We ingest so much lip product so it's nice to know this is all-natural and not harmful to your body. I love the Acai Berry flavour. The balm keeps my lips very moisturized. It comes in a really sleek skinny tube which won't weigh down my purse. I do find because the packaging is so skinny, I have to apply a few coats to cover my big lips which means I might end up using the product faster. But at $2.99 a pop I can stock up! -

I was a loyal YSL Touche Eclat fan for a while but when I hit 30 I needed more moisture and more coverage :( Touche Eclat didn't give enough coverage and started to accentuate the flaky skin around my eyes. When I tried Erase Paste, I fell in love! It not only brightened up the under eye, but it did an amazing job at covering my dark circles. I like that it has a warm peachy undertone which is great for really dark circles. The texture is super rich and creamy - good for eyes that need more moisture. The creaminess allows for blending time and once it settles it stays put. A little goes a long way so it's always good to start with a little and then add more. I like that it has a little spatula which is what I love about Benefit - they always think of all the things women would need to make applying makeup easier! I use #3 shade which is the darkest. Hopefully they will come out with a wider range for more skin tones to use. If you do have dark skin, use #3 under circles or blemishes then apply a natural tone foundation over top. I prefer this for my undereyes and like using another concealer for blemishes. The reason is Erase Paste has brightening qualities - you don't want to highlight a blemish! It covers well though! -

Hoola is one of the bronzers I always go back to you. I've tried MANY bronzers but Benefit is still my fave. I love the packaging although not always functional when you carry your kit around. The amount of product in the box lasts for a long time. I've had my for a couple of years. The matte texture gives you a natural bronzy finish. I also like to use this for contouring. I don't use the brush and prefer to use a round brush to mimic a faux tan. The brush is good when you're in a pinch and want to retouch throughout the day. Stays on really well and it's easy to blend! A staple and a cult classic for me! -

I agree that the label "lip plump" can be misleading. When I first tried it, I thought it was going to sting my lips and have a glossy finish like most lip plumpers. This product does plump the lips but not in the way you're used to. The texture is almost like a concealer for the lips. It helps smooth fine lines and builds the shape of your lips giving the illusion of fuller lips. It's an excellent lip primer and keeps your lip colour on all day without over drying lips. Follow the instructions - only 2 dabs per lip. If you put too much it can alter the colour of lip product. Make sure you let it dry completely before applying your lipstick. I found this was also great for women who have naturally pigmented lips and want to wear more nude or softer colours. -
