The first thing I noticed is the packaging, the lid does not stay on! It pops off all the time in my makeup bag-annoying but I can deal with it.
Functionality: it has great coverage and luckily doesn't have a dewy finish (I prefer matte.) now here's the kicker, I now have a full on breakout! What?! I have pretty decent skin most of the time with the odd blemish here and there. Obviously when I had 10 little bumps under my skin a week after using it I was pretty devastated. I evaluated the rest of my lifestyle and nothing else had really changed drastically in the past week except for my foundation. I looked up the ingredients and talc is pretty close to the top of the list (ingredients are listed in order from the highest % to lowest % used in the product) I've now stopped using it for the past week and they are slowly disappearing.
I love the brand still but, will be steering clear of the HD Foundation for myself and clients from now on.

One of the most anticipated products to launch this summer has got girls everywhere going gaga for tight lining and cat eyes
I love me some winged liner but this product has a learning curve for sure!
Twist the bottom to dispense the colour through a slanted (accuflex) rubber tip. Work quickly because this dries up fast! I feel like I have to turn it 10 times to get anything to come out or twice and I get way too much.
I've used it a handful of times and the result is good, and WATERPROOF but I think the gel needs to be a little more viscous for a better application.
With a pricetag of $29 it's not for a beginner, start with a pencil or gel and brush before moving up to this.
Once you get the hang of it you can 'wing out' in a flash and it's handy to keep in my purse!

Yes, I gave into the hype that is known as the Beauty Blender sponge. I was dying to know if it was really the best sponge out there.
Two for $25 ?!
I usually buy a pack of 32 Non-latex spade sponges from Quo for around $4-$7 so I consider these two pink egg shaped sponges to be a high risk investment if they don't work out. I opted to not purchase the Beauty Blender specific cleanser. I read numerous reviews and looked up the ingredients and determined it would be easy enough to clean them with my regular cleaner.
The sponge does feel really firm at first but once you run it under warm water for a few seconds it softens up and almost doubles in size!
The bright pink hue doesn't last long as it does stain easily but I've cleaned it properly so I know
It's just colour left behind from product, not bacteria.
This product is meant to be used to dab foundation or concealer on the skin, don't rub or you won't get the desired results.
The shape is convenient for getting into smaller area or using the round end to get faster coverage.
It does seem to suck up a lot of product, which a sponge is expected to use more product than a foundation brush, but the result is very similar to an airbrush.
Overall I have ended up using the Beauty Blender just for my personal makeup, while I think it's a great product it's not practical to have one or two in my kit when I could be working on multiple clients per day. That's where my disposable sponges come in handy. I have had my current beauty blender for 3 months and plan to use it for 6 months before retiring it and opening up the 2nd one. So for $50 a year I get a higher end foundation sponge it's worth it to me!

Beauty So Clean offers and quick and relatively inexpensive way to keep germs from breeding inside your make up kit. I had heard about this and was a bit skeptical because I'm always worried about cleaning products ruining my makeups quality.
Anti Bacterial Wipes x 48 for $20.00 CAD - They come in one box, but are individually packaged. These are perfect for lipsticks, lipglosses, and eye/lip liner pencils (I would just sharpen my liner pencil to conserve the wipes it does just as good of a job of taking care of any germs or bacteria)
Cosmetic Sanitizer Mist 8ml (0.27 fl. oz) x 2 for $20.00 CAD - This mini spritzer is perfect for travel and stuffing into your kit it cleans pressed powders, eyeshadows, blushes and the like. Its also great for cream based concealers and foundations. This is a super must buy! Truly a revolutionary product.
Conditioning Brush Cleaner (125ml) for $20.00 CAD - This brush cleaner is safe for synthetic and natural brushes. I do find it to be a bit harsh although it claims to be conditioning. I use this once a month on my brushes, and 99% alcohol after each use, then a mild baby shampoo once a week to keep my brushes soft and clean.
A fantastic Canadian Product! I highly recommend them. In British Columbia they are now available at London Drugs most other provinces have to buy them online as far as I know. They do have international partners so check their website for more details!

MAKE UP FOR EVER
Mat velvet matifying foundation
$42CAD
No.15 Alabaster
Porcelain skin with pink undertones
Let me start off by saying I am white, like casper's twin kinda white in the winter months. This is my perfect shade and the coverage is great.
I generally don't have problem skin but some naturally rosy cheeks and freckles. This coverage is definitely build able, but one pass is usually all I need to look natural and have enough coverage to even out my skin tone at the same time.
I have dry skin so I moisturize and prime like a mother - ahem, before putting this on and skip the powder afterwards.

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolour Cheek Gelee in Pink Escape
I was born with red cheeks (bit of roseacea) and I used to hate them! Now I feel naked with makeup on and no blush. This cheek gelee goes on sheer but gives you a great rosy flush finish without feeling like you have anything on. It smells amazing too! This little pod will go a long way, you only need a small pinky dab for each cheek.
It claims to last for 14 hours but by the end of a 9 hour day for me it's lost most of it's lustre. 9 hours is still a long time though!
*Pro tip: this could double as a lip stain too!
Mini $15 .095 oz.
Full size $26 .18 oz.
