Thank You For Smoking (movie) is based on the book of the same name, which I'll admit I have not yet read.
The movie follows a Big Tobacco industry lobbyist and spin doctor, who basically is out to protect America's right to light up. Outrageous subject matter delivered in a satirical way that will have you laughing, tsking, agreeing, loudly disagreeing, and thoroughly entertained by the end.
One of my favourite actors Aaron Eckhardt stars, as do megawatt talents Rob Lowe, William H. Macy, Robert Duvall and others. Don't take this movie too seriously or you'll miss the humour. Great flick!

GREAT sunscreen from La Roche-Posay's Anthelios line. I have used this on my kids and myself. It's fragrance-free (my kids are sensitive to scented products), reasonably water-resistant, and best of all keeps my kids protected longer.
Obviously it's still very important to reapply regularly, but I like that the SPF value is a little lower (I don't buy into the whole SPF 100 thing) and this product really does seem to be a better quality than most of the other creams I've used on my little guys.
I found it wore a little greasy, so for face it's tricky if you have oily skin like me or are prone to sweating like one of my kids. For body though, a little extra moisture is very soothing on hot summer days and keeps skin nicely hydrated.
I received this product from the brand to test which was wonderful since the price point is higher than I'd normally spend. I will probably buy this product again.

What sets it apart is the angled bristles - so convenient for getting in the corners! Many brooms do a great job, but this is really something special.

Funny to be reviewing a mop of all things, but when it's a great product, I have to show it some love.
I picked up the Vileda flat floor mop after hearing about Norwex's flat mop from my MIL. Now we're obviously not comparing apples with apples here, but I couldn't stomach Norwex's price tag. I have found Vileda's mop an excellent alternative!
There are several versions available, and I think I bought the one for wood floors. However, I use it for all the hard floors in my house - wood, tile, linoleum, etc. I certainly couldn't be bothered to buy separate attachments anyway.
Very simple to use: just dunk the pad in your mop water (if you're using it wet, otherwise skip this step obviously), wring it out, slip the sleeves of the pad over the mop's arms and click to secure. When it's time to rewet the pad, click to release and repeat.
As with all flat floor mops, this product is so much more convenient than a string or fabric strip mop. You can toss it in the washer with your other laundry after using it and the pads hold up for quite a while. I have several that are a few years old and they still work really well (for wet mopping). You don't have to use a special floor cleaner - I use Lysol or Mr Clean for my tile/linoleum floors and Murphy's wood soap for my hardwoods (but that's just me: you can use anything).
If you have one that you do not use for mopping, it is a great dry sweep for wood floors. However, the fibers will eventually get a little clumpy just from laundering and then it might be time for a replacement pad (for sweeping). Thankfully, these replacements are available everywhere and cost under $10. You can delay laundering of your dry sweep by beating out the pad outside (I like to whack it with a stick or against the brick of my exterior walls like you'd beat a rug).
Whew! Anyway, great product and one that I'm happy to recommend!

I received this kit a few years ago for Mother's Day (mine is a robin's egg blue colour, but is otherwise very similar to the set in this picture). My 6-pc set includes a toenail clipper, fingernail clipper, angled tweezer, cuticle trimmer, cuticle pusher, and nailfile/buffer.
After several years of very regular use, the only part that's worn out is the nail file (it's plastic or whatever, not metal or ceramic). I'm quite impressed with how the case itself has held up. It's compact and convenient... what can I say? Exactly what I want.
Makes a great gift basket addition or stocking stuffer! There is a good variety of colour choices (case) too.

I continue to be pleasantly surprised by the home hair colour products out there these days! I recently picked up Superior Preference only because it was on sale. It's now firmly on my list of favourite home hair colouring options.
It's a permanent product, so the gray coverage is 100%. I have probably 50% grays on top but none underneath (it's like someone spilled white paint right on my crown and that's it). I got my whole mane covered with just one box - this almost never happens. The colour coverage was consistent, allowing the lightness of my grays to keep the upper layers a little brighter and the lower layers (that included my natural dark honey hue) a little darker and richer so it looks like a very natural progression as opposed to a single-colour-fits-all.
The product scent is comparable to other products, and while it's the full 20-25 minutes processing time (unlike the new 10-minute versions), I felt like the colour held truer longer. Usually it goes very very brassy on me after 3 weeks or so but not this time. I only recoloured because my roots were showing. For the record, I used #8 medium.
I like this product!

I have used several home waxing products and find the prepared strips are the most convenient. Completely mess and hassle free, and they do a comparable job to the ol' hot wax method.
You need to chafe the strips to warm up the wax, or you can lay them out in the sun if you're working near a window. If you don't warm up the strip, they are definitely not as effective. They come in duos that you peel apart and use both as quickly as possible after warming them (usually I put them both on right away to different areas). You can also reuse these strips several times in the same session - probably 4 or 5 uses per strip. You need to make sure you warm them thoroughly and press the wax sides together to remove any air bubbles. If you took off a lot of hair, you might not get as many uses.
Sally Hansen offers different sizes for leg, underarm, bikini and face areas, which I sort of pay attention to. I have never used these on my face, but have everywhere else. For some reason, I have very poor luck with underarms no matter what kind of wax I use, but legs and bikini are easier.
These strips have difficulty with really short hairs (true of most DIY waxing products), but otherwise are a solid product I'm happy to recommend.

I like this moisturizer. I keep coming back to Aveeno over and over again and like almost every product I've tried from this brand.
I have used Aveeno's Positively Radiant, Ultra Calming, and one other (can't remember exactly). I didn't really notice a difference in the way my skin looked or reacted between any of these varieties, but they were consistently kind to my skin and did the job.
This version has SPF30 which I love because I haven't had a lot of luck with facial sunscreens - they often block my pores and make my naturally pale skin tone look even lighter. I've used moisturizers without SPF and Aveeno's Positively Radiant wears exactly like that.
It has the characteristic oaty fragrance of many Aveeno products which might be a negative for some but not for me.
I recommend this product!
