I visited the Tony Chaar salon as part of Beautylicious 2010. I went all out for the highest offering-a colour consultation and haircut by Tony Chaar himself.
I loved it! The salon is in Yorkville, so I was a little worried about 'snooty staff' but I received a warm welcome/reception from Joelle (who is also a makeup artist at the salon). We talked a bit about the salon before I was called to Tony's chair. He gave me a quick colour consult and recommended a treatment for my hair and told me what he was planning on doing as far as the cut. I went back and had an awesome protein treatment (leave in for 10 minutes sort of thing), and then the haircut.
Tony is very attentive and truly professional. He is an expert at what he does. He knows how to engage a client in conversation and isn't tacky or obnoxious. My haircut was so wonderful-absolutely perfect for the shape of my face! He even did the blow dry where all the round brushes stay in your hair....my hair was so voluminous and shiny!
I am going back for colour in 2 weeks or so-I do recommend this salon! I didn't get pushed/prodded into anything I wasn't comfortable with, staff is wonderful and Tony is worth every penny!

I am a huge believer/fan of primer-and always remained quite loyal to smashbox. However, in a pinch I picked up some of the Loreal perfecting base. I am glad I did.
This product is decent...goes on smooth. I won't say it's the best primer I have ever used but for the price, it does a great job! The things I do not like about it are
....that you have to dip your fingers into it. I like my primer in a pump or tube.
....my t-zone was still pretty shiny after applying the product, foundation, and setting powder
I haven't decided what I will use when I run out of this product-if it's on sale, I may use it again. LIke I said before, I prefer to not touch my hands to my face a lot when applying makeup (I use brush, sponge, etc). For the price, it's good!

I really should be reviewing for my midterm right now btw, but I had to type up a quick review about this mascara. Honestly, my plan was to treat myself after my exam with either Armani mascara or a Chanel lip gloss. However, the need for a new mascara trumped all.
I picked this up at Rexall (it was not included in the 50% off mascara sale-boo), and I have to say for a 'drugstore' brand, it's pretty darn good! I wore it yesterday-easy to work with and apply. I had a haircut yesterday and the stylist commented on my lashes right away!!! Not too shabby considering this salon has their own eyebrow/eyelash specialist.....
I am sure I will still treat myself to a more 'luxurious' mascara in the future, but for right now, I am going to stick with this product! I can't say anything bad about it!

http://www.yelp.ca/biz/rhythm-spa-toronto-3
Apparently the owner responds to all comments/bad reviews.
This place gets bad reviews for a reason....here's another bad review. Wondering if she will blame this on her staff....
I went to Rhythm spa for pampering in the form of manicure, pedicure, massage. When I entered, the owner (Maria) was on the phone and didn't bother to get off the phone or say hello to me. I hung up my own coat and sat down by myself. Another employee asked if I was there for an appointment and I told her I was. She told me I would get my mani/pedi first and then have the massage. The spa itself is pretty and I did like the decor. I was seated on raised chair and put my feet in this individual pedicure spa. The person doing my pedicure did a lot of (very strange) examining of the tools and looking back and forth. She started during the pedicure-cut my cuticles to the point they were bleeding and I had to tell her to stop. She told me the tools were 'brand new and very sharp' (her English was not very good). Then she took the foot file to the bottoms of my feet....bleeding again and cuts. I told her to stop and she told me my feet were dry (yes I know but could you please not cut me up?). The owner was working on a client next to me and handed the girl the scrub and said use this. Imagine how the scrub felt after the scrapes on my feet.....relaxing? Nope!
Shall I speak of the owner? Hmm- gossiping with client about past employees and how bad they were-how much money they lost her, how many free certificates she had to give out? Then telling her client she knows this person, that person, name dropping all over the place (tacky, *yawn*) I guess she knew the girl or something but if I am sitting right next to them, is this appropriate talk? There was mention of all the people in the movie business she knows and that her client should hand over some head shots....it was just awkward and weird
While I was getting a pedicure, someone came in to use the infrared sauna. I happen to love those and asked the owner about it. she told me the spa offers memberships-and that this client had an unlimited package, so she could use the sauna for as long as she wants when she wants. I thought this was interesting. She also said, "Yeah everyone gets memberships here (you pay a price per month for services). My client has a membership and she has a membership. So basically you get better service if you have a membership? Is that why I got cut up during my pedicure?
So after the hellish pedicure, I got my manicure. This worked out much better-I had asked for a 'reverse French manicure'. The girl didn't know what I meant-and I just told her to put clear polish on. I was exhausting myself just trying to explain. The manicure was decent.
Massage-a huge open room with wooden foldable screen. I walked in and saw 2 massage beds and thought to myself, "Are they really going to massage someone else here?" The therapist told me that they often have couples and parties for massage but that we would have the room to ourselves. That helped a little. The massage therapist was good-she likes to talk though. As I got dressed, I realized that I was more stressed at that point then I was when I walked in.
As I was leaving, I noticed a man and a woman holding a marketing meeting in the 'waiting area' (I knew that's what it was because the owner was complaining about a marketing woman bothering her and that her husband would deal with it). Great place to hold a meeting right?
I want to believe that things will improve, but I doubt it. I will never go back there-the owner is immature and obnoxious and the staff is not adequately trained. There are plenty of spas in Toronto that don't cut your feet up and know what 'reverse french manicures' are.
sad. sad. sad.

Hey Lucy has a great lunch special....it's a personal size wood-fired pizza with your choice of sauce, 2 toppings, and a choice of salad or fries for $9.99. What a deal! The pizza was delicious-I had Italian sausage and portabello mushrooms on mine. The presentation was clever too....they split the pizza down the middle and put your salad greens in between. Lovely!
Anyhoo, I don't know why the place was empty-the food is great, the patio is delightful and the price is right!
I shall return....I have heard good things about the Martini Wednesdays ($3.99 for martinis)!

So I went into my local Shopper's Drug Mart only to find that they were completely out of my favorite eyeshadow Primer (Smashbox). I went through the store over and over again and finally thought that in a pinch I could use this GOSH cosmetics brand.
Ladies, never settle. Especially when it comes to eyeshadow primer. This is a stick that twists up and has a cream finish. I put it on and my eyelids were white. I thought I had too much on and took it off. I reapplied and used my finger to rub it on my eye. I put my eyeshadow over top of it and the eyeshadow came right off!
This product is a mess in a stick. Eyeshadow primer is difficult enough to apply-since it has to be done quickly! I hated rubbing it over my eye-the skin there is super thin and delicate and at my age, I don't need any more sag or wrinkle! UGH!
Don't buy this....make the hike to Sephora or just wait it out if your local shop is out of primer!

I walk by the Pure and Simple spa in Yorkville on the way to see my naturopath. I had seen the reviews of the 'urban renewal' facial here on ChickAdvisor. Last week I happened to be walking by and saw that the urban was on special so I booked an appointment right away!
What a wonderful experience. Staff is friendly, knowledgable....the urban itself was just outstanding! I loved every minute....in addition to the facial, there is a great scalp massage, arm and leg massage as well.
I love that the products are natural/organic and that they have their own line of skincare. I bought cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. I will definitely be returning! So satisfying!

I attended the perfume party on the 11th and had an absolute blast!
While there, I sampled this perfume and thought it was a bit strong at first. When I had a chance to get it home and try it, I have really fallen for it! It is such a unique scent-and I can smell the fig and caviar in it. What a delicious combination-that's really what this perfume screams....DELICIOUS!!
I will wear this to death just like I did when Angel came out. Love it-on the hunt for Womanity body lotion and shower gel if they make it!
YUM!

I haven't been in Bath and Body works in awhile. I am not a huge fan of body splash/spray because it's alcohol based and has no staying power. However, while I was home visiting my parents I noticed B&BW;Summer Vanilla in Lemon in my mom's bathroom. I tried and thought....this smells yummy. When I got home, I kept thinking about it (and how I should've bought it when I was home-it's less expensive in the US). So I went and got some!
I bought the shower gel, lotion, and body spray. This is definitely a summer scent-to me, it smells like creamsicle. Vanilla with a hint of lemon...nice and light but with some staying power!
B&BW;has several different 'summer' vanillas besides lemon-I think there is a berry, apricot, and coconut. They are always having some kind of deal so you could try them all!

Korean food is a big favorite of mine-I lived in South Korea for 2 years and absolutely loved it!
This place is usually busy and full of Korean people, so I knew it had to be GREAT. I tried it and it's a new favorite. They have many dishes on their menu as well as some combos from their hot bar-all very reasonably priced. I also have requested favorites of mine that are not on the menu and they usually accomodate me!
Bi-bim-Q is family owned and the owners know me quite well! They aren't open on Sunday, which is the only thing 'wrong', but if you have great food 6 days a week, you must need a rest!
