Nails by Natalie is a hop, skip, and a jump away from my condo. I went there because I wanted to try Shellac by Creative Nail Design and I know that Natalie uses Creative products.
Natalie has been in business for a long time and this woman really knows her stuff. She is a no-nonsense, straight talking kind of girl. While her salon isn't trendy frou-frou, you will definitely walk out of there looking great! Her prices are decent, and the salon is clean!
I really appreciate Natalie for the time she spends with me on my nails...she really does a great job for a great price!

I injured my back several weeks ago while exercising. I had been seeing a physiotherapist for approximately 3 weeks with little to no pain relief at all. One of my co-workers suggested seeing a chiropractor. I was pretty skeptical after hearing a lot of horror stories (chiropractors are scam artists, they can paralyze you, etc.). However, I was in a lot of pain and thought there was no harm in trying.
I already go to the Dempster clinic (Dr. Dempster is my naturopath), and remembered him telling me that he had a chiropractor working at his center. I called and made an appointment for the same day.
I am so glad I did. Dr. Jane Weber is fantastic! She took a thorough assessment, asked me a lot of questions and asked what I wanted for myself! She explained what she thought would be a good 'course of action'-in my case it was acupuncture. What I like the most is that she LISTENED. She addressed my pain issue right away!
3 treatments later, I am feeling a lot better. While I am not 100% yet, I am impressed with the amount of improvement in such a short time! Dr. Weber isn't your 'textbook' chiropractor-she also provides acupuncture, and is even working with a RMT! I recommended her to my husband who also has a severe back injury and he has seen major improvement as well!
If you are hurting, go see her!

When I recently returned home for a visit (upstate NY), it was quite humid. I checked my toiletries bag and noticed that I did not have my potion 9 OR any of my Goldwell products that I normally use to control my hair! Add to that the fact that my parents have 'soft' water and that is one huge hair disaster.
While I was shopping, I stopped into a salon and asked the gentleman at the front to look at my hair and make some suggestions. He showed me Chi Silk Infusion-at first I was hesitant to buy it because I have broken several Chi straightening irons, but my hair truly honestly was a mess.
Got home and jumped in the shower (love that hot/humid spell-NOT). Used this on my towel dried hair and then got to work drying.
Well, I LOVE this stuff! It's got a great scent, it's easy to work into the hair and the results are fantastic! My hair feels soft and silky! So I have worked this into my hair products 'routine' and will be looking at the other products in the Chi line.

oh boy did this place drop the ball!
My friend and I wanted to go somewhere that there was jazz or a live band....we had a reservation for 8:15. Our table was ready when we arrived and it seemed like a good spot until the table of 8 to our right showed up and then table of 20 in front of us showed up.
Needless to say we were completely forgotten-shoved in a corner. We didn't get any bread on our table, our waiter (who apparently was new) didn't ask if we wanted more drinks, our food was brought out after the table of 8 and table of 20 got their food...we got the wrong dish (alligator when we ordered calamari), and then the calamari never came. The table of 20 kept adding people to their table so eventually our table for 4 became a table for 2 (the other person that was supposed to come out with us didn't show up in time, which was probably a good thing).
I spoke with the manager who took our calamari off our bill-we ended up paying for our drinks and the salad with 4 little tiny shrimp in it. Oh, and the band was still tuning up when we left at 10:00pm. BLAH.
We will NEVER go back.....

My history with fitness/body image is long and twisted....I was overweight for most of my life (especially during my teenage years which was absolute hell), then extremely "buff" during a brief stint as a fitness competitor/fitness model. Well my body fought back by piling on the weight....and as the years went by it became harder and harder to lose...enter George....
I have had personal trainers in the past-you know the ones, big massive muscled and oiled up guys with clipboards and bags of boiled chicken and oatmeal. So when I first met with George (for my free consult), I thought to myself, 'is this guy for real'?
ummmmm YES he is and I found that out about halfway through my first workout. How sad is it that I couldn't even make it through the first workout? YIKES! So I signed up....
Verdict? I am happy-I see progress, I am able to get through the workouts now and am running a lot faster then I was before! It's nice to have someone else thinking about the workouts for you-you just focus on the actual exercise. I like the one on one "it's all about me" stuff.
George is no joke people-and his programs work! I am about one month in and plan to continue-it's totally worth it! You only get ONE body!

When I went to Shoppers, I had the sole intention of buying Make up for ever HD foundation. However, I found out that they don't plan on carrying it anymore (apparently there is an issue with shipping from the states? The people at the Bay told me the same thing???). So I thought I would take a chance on what the beauty consultant told me about the smashbox high definition foundation.
Well, I really like this foundation! It goes on wonderfully (with a brush or sponge) and is build-able-a must for me since my nose tends to need a bit more product. It isn't heavy and my skin looks great!
Dislikes? Price-smashbox is a little bit pricey, but I am willing to invest in my face so I will pay.

I was pretty skeptical about this makeup when I received it in the mail...I have been using mineral makeup for about 6 months now and don't really rely on liquid foundation much anymore. However, I have been using it for almost a week and have to say that I generally like it! Thanks to Marcelle and ChickAdvisor product review club!
It goes on fairly easily-especially if you use a foundation brush (and after primer). I tried to build coverage, but it didn't work-especially in my t-zone. I wore it to work and my nose was pretty shiny-and this was after I set it with pressed powder.
I also did have to use cover up for a small breakout on my cheek but overall its a decent light to medium coverage makeup. I like the fact that I didn't feel like I was wearing makeup but will most likely return to my mineral makeup!

I don't know why I do this but I can be rather 'impulsive' with my hair and what I do to it. The morning that I decided to go here, I had seen a girl wearing a salon apron picking up a muffin in the grocery store below the salon (its in the Manulife center). Her hair was soooo pretty so I thought 'let me call this salon and see if they have any time for me to get my hair colored'. Well, they did have time for me but not with the stylist whom I had seen in the store.
I showed up and had to wait 20 minutes for my stylist-yikes. This is your standard hair salon-blow dryers going, women in foils and under dryers. Nothing glam, that's for sure. I finally met my stylist and explained to her that I had seen this other stylist this morning and loved her hair and could she do something similar. She said, 'You're in luck-I do her hair'. GREAT!
I don't think I have ever had such a thorough colour consult in my entire life. This girl (her name is Laura by the way) took so much time to explain colour combinations to me. I showed her what I wanted and explained my daily routine and we ended up coming to a compromise about what would look good (and not crazy) in my hair and why. Totally cancelled out the 20 minute wait complaint! She really took time with my hair and did a wonderful job on it. I didn't get a cut but she did shape my bangs!!
Salons are a dime a dozen here and I am really grateful that there are some stylists out there that will sit and take the time to make sure they 'get it right'. I am most definitely going back for a cut and she even told me to come back for touch ups. This girl took me from washed out blonde to a beautiful auburn with copper highlights. I have gotten a ton of compliments and it just warms up my whole face. Beautiful!

My husband and I went here last night to celebrate our anniversary. We arrived at 7pm and the restaurant was practically empty. I counted 6 people in the entire place. It is all wooden inside and has Japanese decor-kimono type fabric. The bar looks absolutely gorgeous-the back where the bottles are is lit up and it just glows.
Our waiter was great-attentive, knowledgable....we were offered a choice of water and I ended up ordering a cocktail which was AWESOME-I believe it was called boudou. It had an edible flower on the top and although I did snap a photo, it was too dark and not visible. Since it was fairly empty, our dishes came out rather quickly. The food was fresh and delicious-flavor combinations were spot-on! I wasn't a fan of my tempura coming out on a bed of nails (I had brussel sprout tempura and each sprout was on a nail-ummm interesting), but it was super delicious! I also had the tofu ramen which was great-very tasty and reminiscent of my time in South Korea.I ended my night with a white and green asparagus salad with teriyaki-fantastic!
I won't be going to Ame weekly because of the prices but for a special occasion, most definitely! I was told that Thursday, Friday and the weekends it gets packed so make sure you call for reservations!
