I discovered this cute little gelato shop in Baldwin Village, Toronto. They just opened recently but it seemed like they've been in business for years because they had so many different flavours on offer, and all very exotic with an asian twist. They create all their gelato in-house and you can watch through the window. The flavours change daily which is really cool. When I went, they had: Cashew, Black Sesame, Jasmine Tea, Vanilla Lotus, Green Bean Coconut, Vietnamese Coffee, Jackfruit, Durian, Lemon Chrysanthemum, Guava Plum Salt, Spicy Mango, Strawberry Lychee, to name a few. You can sample all of them if you want! I picked the Green Bean Coconut in a small cup for $3.75 which is comparable to a handful size. The taste is light and very creamy. You can also purchase in sugar cones. If you are fiending for something fruity; I recommend the strawberry lychee; something rich, black sesame. Word on the block says theres a new flavour...chocolate wasabi! I adore this place, awesome service, great place to hang out after a nice meal in the village.

I recently picked up the blue neon polish "DJ Play that Song" from The SuperStore. The collection was on sale at $7 each. When I sampled the colour on a white sheet, I liked that it was very pigmented, had a matte quality, and true to the bottle, BUT... when I applied it on my nails, it wasn't as opaque as I wanted it to be and not at all like the sample. I was disappointed by the quality. The formula was very runny and went on transparent. The first coat was streaky and I doubt it was from the brush. It took me 3 coats just to get it close to the bottle colour. It dries like a sharpie/ washable marker. I even tried a white base coat first but the blue picked up the white and still resulted in the marker effect. On the plus, it is fast-drying. Overall, I didn’t favor this because of its inconsistency; however, I love the colour and matte effect. -

This little pot concealer really goes a long way and I mean it! It has last me 2 months now and I use it every day. It covers all my problem areas, dark circles; highlight my eyes, and even works nice as a primer for eye shadow. The creamy formula sets on my skin smooth, and it doesn’t leave a cake-ey effect throughout the day. Very little retouch is needed. I purchased in one shade lighter as I did find it blends with my natural tone best. It even has SPF in it which makes it perfect for summer. This is my go-to concealer and I won’t be making a switch anytime soon. Love it! -

I received the Sally Hanson Salon Insta-Gel Strips kit to try from ChickAdvisor. I love this starter kit because it came with a bundle of re-usable tools. This one contains the LED lamp, 16 gel polish strips in “Shell We Dance”, top coat, 2 nail cleanser pads, cuticle stick, nail file and buffer. The instructions in the box was vague and confusing and I was disappointed at how transparent the polish was. It practically looks nude on and made little to no difference to my nails. I was also not too happy the nail strips came in fixed sizes and only a couple fit on properly. The rest I had to trim down or file off which was a drag. The application process was simple but meticulous. I had to position them on my nail carefully, re-adjusting once or twice to make sure it was set evenly. The strips are like plastic and really cling to your nails. The LED was the fun part, and it’s equipped with a self-timer: after applying the top coat, I placed my polished nail under the light for 30 sec and removed. The instruction advises 30 sec but 60 sec is enough cure time. The results were nice, my nails looked glossy and felt smooth. It’s fairly long-lasting (up to 2.5 weeks wear time) and can be removed with nail polish remover or peeling but you’ll be at it for a while. I don’t suggest peeling off too early because it will take off layers of your nail. Overall, I’m not all that impressed. It takes way too long to do vs. manually painting my nails. I do like that its not messy and requires very little clean up. I only wish I got to try this in solid colour strips – I would’ve been more excited about the product and end result. -

I got to try the Stila After Glow Lip Colour in Electric Pink through ChickAdvisor. First off, this lip crayon claims to glow in blacklight, and it does, neon! But unless you’re at a glow-in-the dark bowling or go-go dancing at a retro theme club, it’s pretty extra. I don’t know if I like the idea of having flourescent lips when I go out at night but its sure an attention-grabber. In the day, the hot pink is a nice pop of colour and on-point for this spring. It highlights my lip and makes it appear plump and fuller which I really like. It goes on matte and comes with a slight sheer shine. I’m not a fan of the formula – it gets dry throughout the day. I usually have to moisturize my lips with a clear balm first but even still it smudges and wears off quickly. It is very pigmented and does leave a bit of a tint which works to my benefit. I normally apply one coat to my lips so it’s somewhat subtle and at times combine with a darker or nude lip shade just to knock it down. The more coats the bolder and vibrant. Day or night- it definitely makes a statement. You can find this fun lipstick at Sephora for $18! -

Best spot for hotpot! The venue is big but never busy. It's all-you-can-eat for the price of $17( tax); First you select a soup base - I really like the kimchi flavor. You can select from the free menu, or its .99-3.99 but its fair since they refill your pot whenever you're low on soup. It is a perfect size for sharing too.The next step is making your unique dipping sauce and they have a great variety you can mix. I recommend mixing sesame oil, chilli, peanut sauce, cilantros, minced garlic and soy/hoisin sauce. Finally, you get to choose your food items. It is self-serve. You get a square tray, add any kind of meats, seafood, vegetables etc, and cook it in your pot. Eat as is or dip it in your sauce for flavor. Drinks including pop, juice and water are self-serve as well and everything is refillable. I never spend more than 40 mins here and you definitely get your money’s worth. Overall, its a great place for dinner and large gatherings, and eating healthy (somewhat)! The only downside is that some of the staffs don’t speak English very well but it’s a nice environment, and friendly service. It is located 7030 Warden Ave, Markham, ON, Canada. -

Definitely a kitchen staple! Kraft Peanut Butter and Honey compliments all sorts of dishes from salty to sweet to savoury. Use it as a condiment or snack - its smooth, creamy and is the right balance of sweetness and peanut butter. I've tried it as a peanut sauce mix for steak and wings and it tastes great! It also goes well with bread and pastries, baking in cookies, muffins, pancakes, chocolate, and blending in fruit smoothies (my favourite, note: you have to scoop about a teaspoon onto the blade to blend properly). It's perfect to bring along camping, on picnics, and parties. The texture is surprisingly thin but fills you up and keeps you feeling full longer. It's full of healthy monounsaturated fat, it's nutritious, and delicious! Grab one at your local grocery store for $3-5 - I highly recommend it! -

I received this in Black as a free gift with purchase, and I was impressed by the results. It lengthened my lashes, adding thickness without much effort. I apply this on my top and bottom lashes after curling, and the more I apply the bolder and fuller they look. It dries very quickly and I like the formula for this reason. I don't like that it has an alcoholic scent and tends to cause a sting/burn when my eyes are moist. It is not waterproof so refrain from moisture, and to prevent clumping, let dry between coats. -
Love the smell, leaves my skin feeling soft and silky all day. On the other hand, the formula is a little thick, almost whipped creamy and tends to leave oily residue.
