If you are looking for local vintage thrift style with an eco-conscience then you should check out Spree Designers Market at 1530 Brunswick in Halifax. This boutique offers you unique and trendy items that are both new and used. From boutique I purchased a necklace made from hand dyed silk that I have received several compliments on since. The salesperson at the store was very helpful and knowledgeable... telling me about the artisans that created pieces etc. I will definitely visit this store again the next time I am in Halifax. -

Black Market Boutique is located at 1545 Grafton St in Halifax. It's a great boutique for trinkets and various other nicknacks. They have jewelry from bracelets to earrings to nose rings and various things such as kitchy mirrors etc mounted on the wall. It has the feel of the store Ten Thousand Villages in Toronto. The prices are really low and the there is so much to look at that it is almost distracting! Check this place out. -

I received Mac Tendertone Lip Balm in Purring from a friend of mine who is a makeup artist and I have to say that I really really like this product! I normally find tinted lip balms to not have enough color in it for me to spend the money on it but I was pleasantly surprised by how well this product works! Purring looks very orange in the container but when it is on my lips it compliments my skin tone very well and makes my lips look shiny with a hint of color and giving you just the right amount of moisture. I highly recommend this product and I plan on buying it and trying out new colors when I run out of this one. -

I have to say that I was thouroughly impressed with Joey's Bentall One. I went to a ChickAdvisor event that was held here and our group was treated like royalty through and through. The atmosphere was energizing, which is something I have not really found in other venues I have been to in Vancouver. There was a 'buzz' in the room that I found refreshing. For a moment I felt as though I was in Toronto hanging out with friends on a friday night!
We were in the wine room and there was a big after work crowd. The thing I loved the most was the food, where do I begin??!?! Everything that we sampled was delectable! You should definitely check this place out!!!

I agree with misschickie, this is a great spot for a weekend brunch! The food was absolutely wonderful although I am not really one for lineups. I have to say that the service is hit or miss. I have been there and the service was impeccable and other times I have been there the service left something to be desired. I guess it really boiled down to how busy they were at the time. I would recommend trying this place for something a little different for breakfast once in awhile. Their french toast is yummy! -

I love Cafe Artigiano...it is my favourite cafe in Vancouver to sit and relax and have hot chocolate...which is by far the BEST hot chocolate I have ever had in my life. The lattes are impressive as well and they do foam art that is a wonderful added touch. I am not sure how their coffee is as I don't really drink coffee so couldn't really say whether it is better than others. I love the atmosphere though and it is a great place to sit and chat with friends on a cold day. -

So on a recent trip back to Toronto I came across Mendocino in Eaton's Centre...yet another store that Vancouver lacks! Anyway, I digress.,... I love Mendocino and was pleasantly surprised to see that they carried Miss Me jeans as I was about to order a pair online but saved myself the hassle and bought them here instead! The salespeople were ultra helpful as I tried to figure out which jean fit me the best etc etc. In the end I bought the Crystal & Lace jean in the picture above and I am really happy with my purchase. I can't wait to be back in Toronto where Mendocino is a shopping option for me once more. Some of their items are a bit highly priced but when they have sales you end up with fashionable well made clothing for a great price. I highly recommend this store. -

On a recent trip to Toronto I ate at Sushi One just north of Yonge/Sheppard because it was very close to my friend's condo and I had a sushi craving. I thought that the sushi would be mediocre because it is such a small venue but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved their sushi! My favorite item on the menu was their green dragon. Sushi One is located at 4924 Yonge St. If you are ever in the area, check this place out, you will not be disappointed! -

I was first introduced to Miss Me denim by a friend and I have to say that I love their jeans. They can be found in various boutique stores in Toronto and Vancouver and are normally priced around $100 or so a pair. The jean features cut outs with embroidered swirl print and clear crystals. The cut of these jeans is very flattering and I always get compliments whenever I wear these jeans and I will continue to buy Miss Me jeans because I love them! -

I stumbled upon Turnabout while exploring Kitsilano with a friend who was in town from Edmonton. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the contents of this store. I have never been a consignment shopper but my friend asked me to go into the store with her and the merchandise was phenomenal. They had labels from Gucci to Marciano and the prices were ridiculously low with the additional sale that they had going on. I bought a Marciano top and another blouse for $18 taxes in. This location of Turn About is said to be slightly less upscale than the one on Granville but I have not been to that location yet and I was content with this location and the fact that it had free parking nearby as well. There was a good selection of used clothing for this who enjoy finding stylish goodies at less than new prices. They carry everything from funky t-shirts to shoes and bags and you might even find some designer labels here. -
