I was extremely grateful to have been chosen by ChickAdvisor to try Dove Ultracare Conditioner Weightless+Moisture Mousse free in exchange for my honest review #gotitfree
I thought this would be a great opportunity since the product is targeted towards fine, dry hair which I have. I always find it a real chore to brush out all of my tangles after washing and conditioning my hair. While I liked the formula and light scent of this mousse, I wasn't sure how much product to use. After using Dove shampoo, I sprayed two large dollops into my hand and the product absorbed into my hair easily. I left the product on for a few minutes each time I've used it (more than the 1 minute they recommend in the directions), and then rinsed. Unfortunately, perhaps due to the tangle-prone nature of my hair, this product did not "effortlessly detangle [my] hair." I've had better luck with creme conditioners in the past, so I will likely try the creme and milk-gel versions of the Ultracare Conditioner to see if they suit my hair better. If I find these work for me, I would spend the few extra dollars to buy the Ultracare Conditioner rather than a standard one. I wouldn't recommend to others based on my experience, but it may work well for others!

I was given the chance to try Nivea MicellAIR Water for free as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club in exchange for my honest review #gotitfree
Specially designed for dry and sensitive skin, this micellar water that acts as an all in one makeup remover and cleanser. It promises to leave 0% product residue when used, and that users won't have to rinse off anything, truly a one step process. For a large 400mL bottle, you can purchase this for under $10 at drugstores, pharmacies, and online. It's easy to find in store and extremely gentle. As the product packaging promised, I was able to use this on my face, eyes and lips, without any irritation. I did have to go through quite a bit of product to remove the makeup and cleanse my face, but as the bottle is quite large and the price well within budget brands, that doesn't present too much of a problem. I really appreciate the product not containing any perfume or fragrance, as this often contributes to irritation.
My one critique of it would be that it wasn't super effective in removing lipstick or lipgloss, but worked very well to remove mascara, eye shadow, foundation, blush, and concealer of various coverages. I would much rather use this micellar water with its relatively brief ingredient list and gentle approach than makeup removal wipes or harsh cleansers.
Thanks to Nivea, Tessa Virtue and ChickAdvisor for the opportunity to try this great cleanser!

I received a jar of Nivea Care Intensive Nourishment Non-Greasy Cream for free from ChickAdvisor in exchange for my honest review #gotitfree
I've always loved and trusted Nivea to be a gentle and nourishing brand for my skin, especially in the winters. I was thrilled to try this new line from Nivea that was non-greasy, as my face can be quite oily in the summer months and I like to use something lighter. The scent of the cream smells like classic Nivea - not overbearing, just pleasant. I'm so pleased that Nivea has Tessa Virtue as a spokesperson for their products. I like supporting a brand that supports Canadian Olympians! I like trying new brands but it's great to see a classic one that features different women in their advertising.
The cream delivers as promised - it's non-greasy but still moisturizes skin on your body, hands, and face and absorbs very quickly. I've checked the price at different department stores and pharmacies, and at under $13 for a large jar of 400mL, it's great value. My one critique would be that as it's a jar, one has to scoop out product each time to use it, which isn't as hygienic as it could be if it had a pump or applicator stick. However, I would still heartily recommend this product to others and intend to purchase it again once I've gone through this one. Thanks to ChickAdvisor, Nivea, and Tessa Virtue for the great recommendation!

I received a full-sized the Face Shop's Dr. Belmeur Panthenol Soothing Gel Cream free from ChickAdvisor in exchange for my honest review #gotitfree
Although it comes at a higher price point, The Face Shop often has sales and as it's a gel rather than a cream or lotion base, you need less than a dime-sized amount to spread across your whole face. It does a great job of soothing my red and sometimes sensitive skin. I have dry patches around my hairline and chin, and using this together with the CICA recovery serum and cream have made a big difference in the texture and appearance of my skin. The gel has a light scent of aloe vera and chamomile, and is formulated without ten common additives. As with the other products in the different Dr. Belmeur lines, I would have valued more information on the packaging and website for the products. I would definitely recommend this to friends (with all skin types) and intend to purchase the gel cream again, especially for warmer temperatures.

I received a full-size The Face Shop Dr. Belmeur Cica (Cica is short for centella asiatica, a new wunderdrug in the Korean beauty market) Recovery Serum free from ChickAdvisor in exchange for my honest review #gotitfree
I haven't used that many serums before, so it would have been nice if the packaging and website for the serum had more direction about how many times per day it should be used. When used together with the cica recovery cream and soothing gel cream, my skin is noticeably healthier looking - I've even gotten comments from others about the change in the appearance of my skin. However, I don't think that's really particularly because of the serum - I would try to use the cream and gel cream together to see if I get the same results. As with the other products in the cica line, I love love love the packaging of the serum, and it has a cap and a squeeze top applicator which makes it very easy to get the desired amount of product. It only takes a dime sized amount to spread across my face, so being able to control the flow is important not to waste the product. I do think the prices of the line are a bit high, but as you only need a small amount each day, the prices seem more reasonable, especially when you keep in mind that The Face Shop often has great sales! I'm glad to have had the chance to try three products in the line, and would recommend them to people with all skin types, as the absence of 10 additives makes them gentle products.

I was very excited to have the chance to try Cica Recovery Cream from The Face Shop's Dr. Belmeur line for free in exchange for my honest review #gotitfree
I was very impressed with the quality of the packaging and the hygienic nature of the cream. A plastic scoop is included with the cream, so that one doesn't have to use their hands to dip into the jar with each use. I have some acne scars, uneven skin and some dry patches, and I really liked the results I got from using the cica recovery cream for two weeks straight. Out of the serum and the cream, I preferred the cream because of the texture and the results. With the cream, a little goes a long way. It's more like a gel than a cream, which worked well for my skin in this warmer weather. It's fantastic that The Face Shop is available online and in shopping centres for Canadians as otherwise it can be quite tricky to find Korean skincare. I found that this provided great results, and since a little goes a long way, it will last longer than other similar products. Because of this, the high price point doesn't seem as expensive. I would recommend to friends and family and will probably purchase this again once I've gotten through this jar.

I received a 2-pack of Vileda Multi-Use Scrunge Sponges from Family Rated and Vileda for free in exchange for my honest review #gotitfree Thanks so much to Family Rated and the brand for the opportunity to try something for the house!
Since I graduated university I've been buying home goods based on price rather than quality. These Vileda sponges knock it out of the park, especially compared to the ones that I was using. As promised, the scrunge is safe to use on Teflon and other kitchenware materials without scratching. I also couldn't believe that the scrunge does in fact rinse clean after each use, making it last a lot longer than other sponges. Despite using it everyday since receiving it last week, it still looks good as new! I always thought of Vileda as a quality brand and I'm looking forward to trying their mops and other cleaning products. I've checked into the price for a two or four pack of scrunges, and they are actually much more affordable than I had previously thought. I would definitely recommend these to family and friends, whether they have lots of cooked on stains on their dishes or not. Vileda's definitely won me over!

I received a pack of seven wipes free in exchange for my honest review as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club #gotitfree
I really wanted to like these wipes as much as I liked the gel and water gel sunscreen, but unfortunately I had to do quite a few passes over my face to get all of my makeup off. I tried using it to remove eyebrow pencil, eyeshadow, mascara, foundation, bronzer, and lipstick. It was least effective at removing dark eye makeup and lipstick. It seemed to push the dark shadow and mascara around my cheeks rather than remove it, and because the wipes weren't as gentle as I thought, the wipes irritated my eyes. It took quite a few swipes to get the lipstick off as well, even though it wasn't a particularly dark shade. I had to wash my face after using one unfortunately, as I felt the makeup had been moved around my face and didn't seem to be coming off.
However, the wipe did leave my face feeling soft and healthy-looking. I think I would recommend these to friends who don't wear heavy makeup and are looking for a refreshing wipe. I wouldn't personally purchase them again but I'm glad to have had the opportunity to test them.

I received a full size Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Sunscreen (88mL) free in exchange for my honest review as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club #gotitfree
I've already started to see this line of products in drugstores around me and the price is very reasonable considering the formula and high SPF protection (50). Most of the brands that offer sunscreen specifically for your face have a much lower SPF and a much higher price point. I've tried luxury brand face sunscreens and I think the Neutrogena Hydro Boost performs almost just as well as the luxury ones.
The Hydro Boost water gel sunscreen absorbs very quickly but the consistency is thick enough to provide protection. It has a formula that isn't too thick to add a regular makeup routine on top. I went out on a sunny afternoon and felt like it provided great protection from the sun, especially considering my fair complexion. It is lightly scented just as the hydro boost gel is, so although it is hypoallergenic it may irritate people with more sensitive skin. However, I would definitely recommend the Neutrogena Hydro Boost water gel sunscreen to friends for its budget-friendly price, high SPF protection, and fast-absorbing thin formula, and I intend to purchase it again.

I received a sample of Hydro Boost Gel Cream free in exchange for my honest review as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club #gotitfree
A little goes a long way with this gel cream, and I much prefer it to more lotion based moisturizers. I have combination skin which is somehow quite oily and dry (nightmare) so this is ideal for me as it moisturizes and still leaves my skin looking matte. It absorbs quickly and easily and my skin does feel hydrated for my whole work day. The price for a full-size of this is quite reasonable especially compared to more premium brands that deliver the same results. It's also conveniently available at drugstores, on different online retailers, etc.
The product is supposed to be fragrance-free but it had quite a strong scent in my opinion. It's not an unpleasant scent but it is definitely strong enough to be noticeable.
I would recommend this to friends with a variety of skin types and would probably purchase it again.
