Subway stinks. Literally. I can't stand the smell of the place. They all smell the same and you can smell them before you even get inside. I don't know why and I'm not sure what is making the smell, but it turns me off big time and makes Subway pretty much the only chain I refuse to enter. Don't get me wrong, the concept of a place that serves fresh veggies and and whole grains is right up my alley. I love Pita Pit! I enjoy sub type sandwiches in general from other chains. I have had to suck it up and eat at Subway a few times and every time I think it won't be that bad. But the smell literally turns my stomach. And the subs are only mediocre. So it's just not worth it. -

Simply the best Orange Pekoe on the market! It is a shame you can only get it in the Maritimes. Luckily I was born and raised in New Brunswick, where King Cole originated over 100 years ago. This is the tea I grew up with and it is still the best. I think the secret is the unique mesh tea bag and the fact that each bag is a two cup bag. Delicious! -

I have never understood the appeal of the DQ cake. The frosting is bland and the ice cream even more bland. In contrast, the crumbled chocolate bits between the layers is just bitter. The fact that you can get images on them is the only cool thing about them. But I feel like I could make a much better tasting ice cream cake on my own at home and create something equally cool for way less money, because the DQ Cakes are also quite expensive. -

I love Mrs Dash Seasonings! I am not a big salt fanatic. I occasionally add a bit of sea salt just before serving but that is all and many of the people I cook for have issues with high blood pressure etc. and need a low sodium diet. As a result I have usually had to make my own salt-free seasoning blends, until I discovered Mrs. Dash! I love the Garlic & Herb blend and the Lemon Pepper. I can't wait to try more kinds. Mrs. Dash will be a staple in my kitchen from now on. -

I really like D'Italiano Thick Slice Bread. The slices are not as wide or long as other store bought bread but three times as thick, making them perfectly compact for holding in your hand when you are eating a sandwich. I prefer the whole wheat and I like to toast it lightly and serve with creamy peanut butter and a bit of jam. I like that when it's toasted, the outside gets crispy but because the slices are so thick, the inside stays softer, so you don't get a completely crispy crumbly hard mess. Great for sandwiches, toasted or not, and perfect for making garlic bread! -

Hellmanns is expensive where I live in the Maritimes, but I always snatch it up when I find it on sale because it is absolutely delicious! It is really the only mayo on the market that I use for chicken salad and egg salad sandwiches, potoato salad, coleslaw, and everything else. Very creamy with just enough tangy zip. If I didn't live on a low income it would definitely be a staple in my home. -

Sawmill Creek make decent wines, the price is pretty good. I have tried more of the reds than the whites and overall I find the reds to be a bit lacking in flavour. They aren't as robust and complicated as I would like, but you need to keep in mind that my favourite wines generally come from South America. I adore a good Malbec. For a Canadian wine Sawmill Creek is better than many, but not as good as Jackson Triggs, in my opinion. -

I am normally not a frozen drink type of gal. My preferred drink is very dry red wine served at room temperature. But while I was house-sitting for my sister last summer I discovered her stash of Palm Bay Frozen Key Lime Cherry in the freezer and decided since it was so hot that I would try one. I ended up drinking all three! Buying replacements and then drinking those too before she returned from her vacation! These are delicious, refreshing and highly addictive! I am now making my own little stockpile at home in my freezer for this coming summer. -
