About to be executed for murder, Yelena is offered a reprieve. She'll eat the best meals, have rooms in the palace, and risk assassination by anyone trying to kill the Commander of Ixia. And so Yelena chooses to become a food taster. But the chief of security, leaving nothing to chance, deliberately feeds her Butterfly's Dust, and only by appearing for her daily antidote will she delay an agonizing death from the poison. As Yelena tries to escape her dilemma, disasters keep mounting. Rebels plot to seize Ixia and she develops magical powers she can't control. Her life’s at stake again and choices must be made. But this time the outcomes aren’t so clear!
~ This is not my usual genre of book but after one page I was hooked and couldn't wait to turn the page to see what happened next. Very detailed and descriptive writing. There are some tense moments in the book and the suspense and intrigue keep your attention throughout Yelena's difficult and torturous journey.

We were given this spray when my daughter had her ears pierced. It worked like a charm and she did not have any infections from her piercings. We brought her to a tattoo parlour to have her ears pierced. I did not want her to have her ears pierced with a piercing gun that leaves a jagged hole and the store nearby only had one gun and I was sure that if she had one ear pierced that she would not sit there for ear number two. The tattoo artist measured her ear with a ruler and did an excellent job with the hole placement. She used a needle and the piercing was quick. My daughter did not cry once and felt no pain. She's one tough cookie. -

As I read the last page I wanted more and I had so many unanswered questions. There would definitely be room for another novel in the series. I hope that Stephenie Meyer will pen another book someday. -
