Chocolate Sea Salt Bars

In 2013, RXBAR decided to “call B.S. on protein bars” and instead created their own simple and nutritious version of the product. Rejecting the complex ingredient list used by mainstream companies, RXBAR went free of gluten and GMO's and only included whole food options with real, clean ingredients.
The RXBAR s are perfect for people who are on-the-go and want stand alone snacks or pre/post workout energy bars.
RXBAR has several different flavours of their product and their protein bars are described as using only a few basic ingredients found in typical home kitchens and pantries. For example, today I sampled the Chocolate Sea Salt RXBAR, which is predominately made of egg whites, nuts, dates, sea salt and pure chocolate.
I expected my first bite to taste like dates but I was wrong; the ingredient is used mainly as a binding agent and its flavour is subtle. Instead, the first taste to hit my palette was that of chocolate. The energy bar reminded me very much of Eat-more – a chocolate bar made by Hershey and also a much-loved and past-time indulgence of mine.
The Chocolate Sea Salt RXBAR is best stored in cool places. If handled in warmer temperatures for longer than a few moments, the product tends to melt. So eat quickly!
Overall, I very much enjoy this protein bar. It provides to me an amazing mixture of textures. Its soft and chewy interior extends each bite long enough to enjoy every sensory experience of goodness that RXBAR has to offer. Its exterior is strategically coated with after-burst clusters of salt which make the consumer crave for more of this amazing product.
The accompanying image provides a graphical depiction of the ratios provided between Carbohydrates, Fat and Protein. There are 210 calories in every Chocolate Sea Salt RXBAR with 9 grams of fat, 23 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of fibre, and 12 grams of protein.

WATERWIPES: The World's Purest Baby Wipes
URL: https://www.ontopic.ca/post/waterwipes
WaterWipes baby wipes are designed to help clean newborn babies and those with sensitive skin. The liquid solution used in the product is comprised of 99.9% water and includes a drop of fruit extract (contains traces of benzalkonium chloride).
The original wipes are made in Ireland. They are hypoallergenic and have been approved by The Vegan Society. The product has zero percent artificial fragrance, sulphates and colours and it has received the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance.
The baby wipes are not flushable: They are a blend of 80% polyester and 20% viscose, meaning that only 20% of their materials are biodegradable. This statistic leaves WaterWipes ranking low in the biodegradable category; however the company sets its standards high and aims to make its product 100% biodegradable by 2021.
To test the durability of WaterWipes, I placed one sheet into a 1:1 water-and-vinegar solution 10pm-7am, 9 hours) and soaked the wipe overnight.
I also used 2 wipes from the sample and used them with Vim cleaner to clean the interior of my bathtub. I was surprised that the wipes did not immediately disintegrate after 5 minutes of abrasive use.
WaterWipes deserves its stature as “the world's purest baby wipes,” but this product may not be one with the most germ-fighting power. WaterWipes does not contain alcohol, a central germ-killing ingredient found in most commercially-sold baby wipes. This means that parents may wish to add extra steps into the cleaning of their baby's diaper area.
Overall, I give this product a fairly good rating. They live up to their claim as being the gentlest on a baby's skin. For newborns WaterWipes seem like a great choice. However, once babies are on solids, additional bacteria is introduced into the child's digestive system and this means that a wipe with more germ-fighting power is recommended.

WALTZING MA TILDA: Tilda's Coconut Steamed Basmati Rice

Tilda produces several varieties of steamed and dried Basmati rice products. Its foods are gluten-free and can be used in place of pasta, sandwiches and side dishes. Each variety can be used as a stand-alone product, or as part of a larger prepared dish.
The product that I sampled for this review was Tilda's Coconut Steamed Basmati Rice.
As soon as I received and opened the package, I could tell the product was made from top quality ingredients. Its fragrance was that of authentic coconut and I could not detect the scent of artificial ingredients.
Tilda's steamed rice mixtures are quick to prepare and earn their reputation as convenience products. They come pre-steamed in their packages and can be heated either by microwave or with oil, by stove top. After sampling my product, I confirm with Tilda's guarantee that its mixtures are fluffy and do not stick.
When sampling Tilda's Coconut Steamed Basmati Rice, I did not pair it with Indian spices, as per company suggestion.
However, I did choose to heat it with oil, by stove top and then consumed it without any added ingredients. In general, I enjoy the taste and smell of coconut and thought that its flavour would be more prominent in Tilda's product. But I was wrong.
In retrospect, I realize that mixing the Coconut Steamed Basmati Rice with its recommendation of Indian spices could have created a synergized effect on the taste palette. In summary, the product was very filling and had great texture but I don't advise that consumers treat the rice mixture as a stand alone product. I also do not feel that heating these grains with oil is the best option, as the preparation method resulted in a rancid tasting result.

COMING OUT OF HIDING: The Nestlé Chocolate Bar
L'Atelier Dark Chocolate Blueberry Nut Bar

Its product slogan is “Authenticity Has Nothing to Hide” and Nestlé welcomes the scrutiny of consumers by exposing its contents bare. A brief glance of the bar reveals a decadent array of ingredients which include blueberries, almonds and hazelnuts, all nestled in layers of chocolate containing no less than 45% cocoa.
The L'Atelier Dark Chocolate Blueberry Nut Bar is a premium product and is sealed in a layer of foil. When unwrapping the bar, Nostalgics may experience anticipation, as though feeling that a prize awaits within. For me, unveiling of the bar triggers memories of that pivotal film scene when Charlie unwraps his Wonka Bar and discovers the Golden Ticket for gaining entry into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.
The L'Atelier Dark Chocolate Blueberry Nut Bar that I sampled was full sized and weighed in at 100 grams. My first bite introduced me to the authentic, slightly bitter taste of cocoa. The treat was very rich and there was a satisfying crunch to every bite. Indeed, only mere bites of the treat were required for satiety and I, just like Charlie, gleefully re-wrapped the uneaten portions for future rendezvous sessions with this delightful treat.
