I often get very bad periods- very bad cramping, nausea and other nasty symptoms. For over the counter meds, Tylenol Menstrual (the box mine came in didn't look like this but it was still the same stuff) works the best. It seemed to help ease cramps considerably. The only downfall is that it tends to make me drowsy (but I have paradoxical reactions to a lot of drugs, so it may be fine for most of you)....It's allowed me to go from being white faced and moaning on the tiles of my brathroom floor to pale but drowsy and with reduced pain, snuggling on the couch and watching TV while dozing. MUCH better scenario! Odds are if your period is that bad anyone, you might want to stay home and rest. -

Casa Gelato is an awesome Ice Cream Parlour in Vancouver, British Columbia- the only parlour in the world with 508 flavours of ice cream, ranging from tradition (chocolate, vanilla, etc), to the unusual (mango, lychee fruit) to the downright bizarre (curry flavour, wasabi flavour, etc).... the price is comparable to Hagen Daas or Dairy Queen. Here is a blurb from the site:
Combining a unique blend of traditional quality and remarkable natural flavours, our products are "new classics" in gelato artistry.
Our products are special because of the unique Italian "no air" process used, producing a gelato of silky texture and unmatched flavour. We have something for everyone: non-fat, non-dairy, low-fat, and sugar-free.
Made in small batches from our special recipes, our products are created from only natural ingredients such as whole milk, fresh fruits, and pure chocolate. La Casa Gelato pays strict attention to detail. Vince and his staff take pride in creating gelato products of unequalled quality.
Our assortment of sorbettos and yogurts are also of unequaled quality and contain only the best natural flavours available on earth. They are part of the 218 flavours that you can indulge yourself in at La Casa Gelato.
The flavours of La Casa Gelato are only limited by the imagination . . . and of course Mother Nature.

Leon (The Professional) is an amazing movie. At first glance it might appear to be your usual action flick, but anyone who has watched more than the first 20 minutes can tell you that it is not. The movie follows the life of young Mathilda (Natalie Portman), the only surviving member of a family gunned down by corrupt federal agents. Unknowingly (at first), she seeks refuge with a solitary neighbor, Leon.... but soon discovers Leon's life work. Leon is paid hit man for the Italian mafia! From then on the movie really picks up pace, as Mathilda gleans more and more information about the "cleaning" trade and formulates plans to avenge her family's murder. There is also a sweet sort of puppy-dog love subplot Mathilda feels for Leon, and Leon loves her back- as someone who has opened up his mind to other ideas for his life, as someone who loves him period (maybe for the first time) instead of just using him for his "services". Many have called this film a "love story" and it is, but not in any perverse way. The movie is beautifully directed and it was very refreshing to see a young girl in the role of a young mercenary. I have never seen another film quite like it (just like Kubrick's version of "The Shining" will never be reproduced)... some movies are so pure in their vision that you just have to see them. -

Floradix is a vegetarian (there is a vegan version too) liquid iron supplement that tastes like fruit and honey and is much better tasting and easier on the stomach than the iron pills your doc may provide. It does have a bit of an aftertaste, but nothing too bad, and it doesn't cause constipation like the pills either. I definately reccomend it, especially if you are vegan or vegetarian. It comes from Germany so the price sometimes seems a bit steep to me (but I am fairly poor). -

This stuff works pretty much as well as the infomercials say... for me at least. I don't have much cash though and I found myself being really stingy with the product to make it last, so I don't think I got the full benefits. If you have the money, its well worth it, but if you're poor(er) you might want to reexamine your priorities (other, cheaper acne products work, just not as well). -
