The Maybelline Great Lash Mascara has been featured in so many magazines and has constantly been rated as one of the best mascaras out there. In my opinion, this mascara is so overrated and overhyped. I used to buy this brand just because I read so many good things about it so it was the first mascara I had ever purchased and I really didn't know much about other types yet. When you first apply it (i.e., when the product is fresh and still fairly new) it goes on very well and deposits a good amount of mascara on the lashes. However, after a few uses, I found that it started to get very clumpy and I really needed to wiggle the wand in order for it to evenly coat every lash. I always had to comb through the lashes afterwards because they would all stick together. I purchased the waterproof version and found it to be really flaky and irritating at the end of the day and I always ended up having "raccoon" eyes by the end of the evening. This might be great for makeup artists who are working on photoshoots and are at hand to touch up any mishaps with the makeup, but for the everyday woman who needs to apply this on her own, I do not recommend this mascara. Now that I've found better mascaras that deliver what they promise to achieve, I walk right past this brand and won't be purchasing it again. -

I had very high hopes when purchasing MAC's Mineralize Blush in Dainty, since it is a beautiful peachy/pink color with a hint of shimmer. I thought this would look good on my fair skin, since I tend to navigate towards these shades and I really wanted this to be my super-can't-live-without-it blush, simply because I did pay a considerable price for it and it is a product of MAC''s which is known for their good quality. However, when I applied it I noticed that the color hardly showed up on my skin. I have fair/porcelain skin and any touch of color will show up instantly, but I found myself really having to layer this product on for it to have any sort of impact. Although, I should have known better, since mineral makeup is usually less pigmented than regular makeup. I did appreciate that the shimmer effect was not too overpowering, but rather subtle which is nice. Therefore, I have found an alternative use for this blush. I will use this over another more pigmented peachy blush, such as NYX's Peachy and layer the MAC's Dainty over it to give it a polished finish with a light shimmer, since the other blush is matte. I don't think I will be purchasing this product again though. I can find a more pigmented blush with subtle shimmer at a cheaper price. If I do purchase another blush from MAC, it will be from their regular line and not the mineralized finish. -

I purchased the Aquafina Hydrating Lip Balm and was a little skeptical about it at first, mainly because it was purchased at my dollar store. The package claims to rehydrate your lips with nourishing and moisturizing ingredients like jojoba oil, vitamin E, and almond oil. I appreciated the fact that they supplied 2 lip balms in the same package and all I ended up paying was $1.00. The lip balm itself is fantastic!!! I cannot tell you how much I've fallen in love with this product! It instantly glides on so smoothly and it seems like it magically erases any dryness your lips previously had. However, it is not at all sticky and goopy like other lip balms and does not sit heavily on your lips. Instead, you hardly notice it's there and yet it is moisturizing your lips to its fullest potential. The original formula leaves a minty/menthol feeling on your lips, which I find refreshing. It reminds me a little of what lip plumpers feel like when you apply them to your lips. The tingly effect lasts a little while, but it is not too overwhelming. I have also tried the citrus and berry Aquafina lip balms and they do not leave this feeling. So for anyone who does not like the minty feeling, your best bet is to purchase the other "flavors" instead. I also love the way this balm makes my lips look. It makes them kissably soft and the moisture lasts the whole day through. I'll be buying these in bulk on my next visit to the dollar store! -

I was recently sent the sample packages of L'Oreal's Collagen Filler Lip to test and share with friends. The first thing I noticed was that it was a dual ended product, therefore you are actually getting two products in one. On one end of the tube, there is a lip contouring cream which is supposed to help smooth out fine lines/wrinkles around the lips. The anti-feathering formula promises to "redefine the lip line in order to prep for lipstick application". I personally saw a change in the way my lips looked after I contoured them with the cream. My lips seemed to stand out more than usual and I could see some sort of definition, sort of like the effect you get when you apply a neautral shade of lipliner. However, I do not have any fine lines around my lip area, so I could not tell whether the product helped reduce or smooth out this problem.
On the opposite end of the tube, there is a plumpling serum/cream with Hyaluronic Micro-Spheres which is supposed to help hydrate your lips and smooth them out. My lips were very dry the first time I applied the serum and in no way did it help hydrate my lips. In fact, it made them appear drier. However, I tried a different approach the second time around. First I applied a lip balm to moisturize my dry lips and only after did I apply the plumping serum. This worked wonders and has made me fall in love with this product! The plumping serum also contains silica, which helps smooth out your lips and provides an excellent base for applying your lipstick or gloss. I would consider this product more of a lip primer, but it did also plump my lips. I liked the fact that it did not make my lips sting, as many lip plumpers are known to do. I also appreciated the natural plumped look it gave my lips and I loved its matte appearance. A lot of lip plumpers have a glossy finish to them, but this did not. I also found my lipstick lasting longer during the day and it looked so smooth as well.
If I was not sent this product to test, I might not have purchased it on my own, simply because it is rather expensive ($25.00 CAD). However, now that I've tried it, it is something worth investing in and I've noticed that you do not need apply a lot of the product in order to give you the desired effect. Therefore, a little will go a long way.

The Matt & Nat handbags and wallets are a very good brand. I got my bags at an outlet last year at discounted prices. Their products are made of vegan material and they look and feel like real leather. There is enough room in their handbags to fit a lot of stuff, it's amazing! They also have a nice selection of styles and shapes. In addition, they also have a series of work related handbags made to carry documents, notebooks, etc... The straps are comfortable and they have enough pockets either inside or out for you to store a few items like your cell phone, keys, makeup, etc... Their wallets are also good. You can fit a lot of cards and there is enough room for your change and dollar bills. What I don't like about their products is that they do tend to scratch or discolor easily. One of the purses actually stained my white shirt after it had rubbed against it after a day of shopping. The wallet can also become a little discolored and it did get a few minor scratch marks after being in my purse with other items inside as well. There is a disclaimer when you buy the product stating that this discoloration process is normal and part of the beauty of the bag. However, if I would have paid this at its regular price, I would want it to remain as is. -

The Corelle Dish Collection is wonderful. I purchased this for my parents as a Christmas gift and they really liked the set. The designs are so creative and pretty and I love the fact that they are chip and break resistant. They are also dishwasher safe, but for those of us who wash our dishes by hand, you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that no scrubbing is needed. The food does not stick to the surface of the plates, making cleanup a breeze. One thing I did notice however, is the size of their soup/pasta bowl. It can be a little decieving when it comes to portion sizes. It looks small, but in reality it can fit two full portions when you think you're only having one. They are also a little heavy when you pick them up altogether. Other than that I think this is a good investment. -

My mom purchased the Febreze air freshener and I have used it a few times to try and eliminate any bad odors around the house. It does have a nice light scent to it and the packaging is very cute. It also fits very well in your hand and you can press the nozzle with ease. It releases a light mist and instantly smells nice. However, it does not totally eliminate foul odors. Yes, it will mask the odor for a while, but once it disintegrates or fades away, the odor is still there. Therefore, you would need to keep reapplying it every so often. It is a good option to have when guests are coming over and you want to freshen up the room quickly. The scent is not overwhelming either, but rather light and pleasant, so I don't think it will highly irritate others. -

If you want fast pain relief, then the Advil Liqui-Gels are wonderful. I actually purchased these by mistake. I had wanted to purchase another brand with similar green packaging, but ended up realizing I had taken this one instead. What a good mistake! These work in a matter or 10 minutes and have relieved some major pain including menstrual cramps, headaches, back pain and toothaches (no... I did not have them all at once!) The individual capsules are a little big in size, which had me worried at first, since I do have a hard time swallowing these types of pills. However, it's smooth exterior made it very easy to do so. You also get a good amount in every bottle and is rather easy to open (just remember to keep it away from the reach of children!). I'm very pleased with this and won't go crazy having to choose the proper pain relief medicine again. -

The Nintendo DS Lite is a great invention for all ages. It is innovative in that it provides a touchscreen approach when playing. You basically use the little stylus pen provided to guide your character around or to play various features in different games. The avearge memory chip can hold about 5-6 games, depending on their memory's size. The DS Lite offers classic games such as Super Mario, Zelda, Sims, and many others. I love how portable it is. It makes a great travel item, especially on road trips. The DS Lite comes with a rechargeable plug and I find myself recharging at least every 2-3 days or so (after playing an average of 5-6 hours maybe). There are two screens: the top screen is only for viewing and the bottom screen is where you guide the stylus pen for the touchscreen application. They are big enough in size for you to see clearly and the images are in high resolution, making the gaming experience very enjoyable. It also comes with adjustable volume, which at its highest level is still very comfortable to listen to. The stylus pen is very sturdy and fits very well into a well positioned slit on the side/back of the DS. This allows you to store it away safely. As for the wi fi connections, you can play certain games with other players. I find this works best if your friends, siblings or family members also own the DS Lite and have the same games you have. Otherwise, you may find yourself waiting a long time to find an international partner to play with, if any at all. Some games do not offer this option, therefore you have no choice but to play on your own. However, this doesn't bother me so much, since the games are highly entertaining even when playing on your own. The one thing that I wish they would improve is the size or shape of the DS. I find my wrists and hands getting very tired or numb after holding it for maybe 30 minutes. So in terms of comfort, it can be improved, otherwise, it is a very cool and innovative product. Whether you are a kid, teenager or adult, you will certainly get enjoyment out of it! -

I've had this product sitting at the bottom of my drawer for years and only recently did I start using it again, only to remember why I had stopped. I had wanted something that would eliminate or at least help alleviate my dark undereye circles and sometimes puffy eyes. I had bought this product simply because it promised to do just that. Its claim is that it will instantly reduce the appearance of dark circles and give the eye area a cooling effect. I agree that it does instantly feel very cool on the skin and soothes tired eyes, much like if you would place cucumbers over them. The tube reminds me of a lipstick which rolls the product up as you use it. It comes with an additional plastic cap to keep it airtight. I havn't tried to remove the cap when it's not in use, in fear that it might dry out. Although you don't need to apply much product to the eye area, there isn't a good amount of product in the tube itself compared to the packaging. This is a little disappointing considering that I did pay close to $10 for it. As I was saying, I do enjoy the cooling effect, but I never saw a difference in dark circles or puffiness. It did make the area a touch brighter, but not enough to say that it made it look better. I still needed to apply concealer afterwards. In addition, when applied outside of the delicate undereye area, the product did tend to clump and show up looking white on the skin (i.e., it dried clear under the eye). Therefore, you have to double check in the mirror after a few minutes, in order to make sure you're not waking around with gunk on your face. I don't think this is worth the price it is sold for. I might as well just put cucumbers over my eyes, since it will give me the same, if not a better result. -
