Maybe it was because I was sick when I got my package in the mail, but I found it really hard to figure out how to access the applicator sponge in this compact! Anyways, the mirror and applicator swivels out from the bottom of the compact. This product works well to absorb oil instantly, but I'm not a big fan of the sponge applicator; I think it picks up way too much product. This is better applied using a powder brush. Overall, if you're in a hurry, this is a good way to pull your look together quickly and easily. It is a good, convenient product for touch-ups on the go. -

I was really impressed with this blush's colour payoff. The gentle pink is a rosey colour, as opposed to a lighter pink that I was expecting. It is probably more suited to a darker skin tone (I use the Sandy Beige foundation), so I will probably use it more when I get my summer tan on. Because it is highly pigmented, I found it best applied using a stippling brush (or a "skunk brush") instead of a regular blush brush, so you won't pick up a lot of the product.
Just like the loose foundation, this is light, smooth, and the difference is noticeable but natural. This is a good mineral blush that I might pick up in one of the other colours.

Having tried another drugstore mineral foundation before, I can honestly say that the Maybelline Mineral Power Loose Powder Foundation, in comparison, is much better. I have L'Oreal Bare Naturale Powdered Mineral Foundation stashed in my makeup drawer, and I don't think I'll be reaching for it any longer. Here are my findings:
- Packaging: Fantastic! The wide diameter of the sifter jar makes picking up the product super easy. I can actually fit and swish my own brushes in the jar with ease, which was a huge problem with L'Oreal's foundation.
- Coverage: It is a really good buildable foundation. I would say it is light-to-medium coverage. A little definitely goes a long way. The result is naturally flawless looking skin.
- Colour and Texture: I got it in Sandy Beige, which was a perfect match for my skin tone. I really like that Maybelline made this available in an array of beiges, making it suitable to many different skin tones. It is finely milled and not at all chalky, which makes it easy to blend evenly into the skin. The application is sooo smooth to the point of yummy. It never feels like I'm wearing any makeup when I wear this.
- Oil control: I found that it worked well in keeping shine away from my face. At the end of the day, my face is not as oily as when I wear a naked face.
What would make this product perfect is SPF protection. The L'Oreal foundation includes SPF 19, which is still less than what everyone needs to wear, but better than nothing.
Overall I was blown away by this foundation. I didn't have any expectations for its performance, and it came out as a winner. I will definitely buy this when I run out.

Ladies with oily lids: hear me out! I have had so many eyeliner disappointments throughout the years. My smashbox cream liner won't stay on (raccoon eyes, hello!). Even my MAC Fluidline, which is supposed to be smudge proof, won't stay put for just a few hours. I wanted to give up on eyeliner altogether, but I gathered up the courage to head to Sephora to pick up the UDPP.
It takes a little bit of practice to get used to the application. It applies with a long awkward wand, just like lipgloss wands. The first time I tried this, it ended up all over my lashes as well (not good!). Once you get past the awkward stage, everything will be wonderful.
Then here comes the test. I applied it at 9 am. Let it dry completely; this is very important! Once it was completely dry, I put on the MAC Fluidline and prayed to the makeup gods. This was also the day that I will be going out for a sweaty day of snowboarding! After a solid 9 hours of snowboarding, I looked in the mirror to see my eyeliner unsmudged; still as fresh as it was when I first applied it. Wow! I found it also made my eyeshadows look more vibrant. You can say that I'm totally hooked on this stuff!
My only complaint about this is the packaging; the wand can only go straight down the genie-shaped bottle. I read that if you cut the tube open when the wand can't pick up any more product, you will find a lot more product on the sides of the tube. This way you can actually get more bang for your buck. This is really worth every penny that I spent ($18 Cdn).
I guess they don't call this potion for nothing. Will definitely buy this again until they stop selling it!

This is my very first philosophy product, and it won't be my last. I've heard lots of fabulous things about this cleanser. It really works wonders for me. It leaves my skin so fresh and clean but far from dried out. It is left soft and touchable. The scent is citrusy, which is the perfect pick-me-up first thing in the morning! My skin has never broken out since I switched to this cleanser. That is a great feat as my skin usually breaks out when I switch up my skin care regime. My only complaint about this cleanser: it says it can get rid of makeup as well, but I have yet to see it wash down my mascara. Still though, I find that every time I use Purity Made Simple, my face is clean enough to skip the toner. And if you're lazy like me, that is such a good thing! :)
It is an excellent cleanser for the dry winter where my skin is more normal, but I am curious to see how this will work with my oily skin during the summer weather. This one is a holy grail product for me! Highly recommended!

While I liked the texture the cocoa beans added to this dark chocolate, I found that it tastes too much like your typical dark chocolate. There was really nothing special about this one besides the texture. I did enjoy the extra twang of bitterness from the caramelized cocoa beans though! I think this would be perfect and a must for any lover of dark chocolate. -

I must say that out of all the chocolates I tried in the Nestle Noir line, this is the biggest surprise of them all. I was expecting gooey caramel to leak out of the chocolate as I broke it off (bad!), but all I got were little chunks of caramel heaven (good!).
The combination of the caramel and chocolate was absolutely fantastic. Another indication of how good this is? I opened up all Nestle Noir chocolates at the same time, placed in the middle of our dining room table. The caramel chocolate was running out so quickly, I had to tell my family to save me some for my review! I think this is a definite crowd pleaser.
This one put caramel chocolate in my good books.

I didn't have high hopes for this one as I've never been a fan of flavoured chocolate. Nestle Noir Cherry gets a thumbs down from me. While I found the taste a bit funny (tangy bitterness anyone?), what bothers me more is the texture. This is very chewy because of the cherries. This was my least favourite of the bunch.
If you'd like to try just one of the chocolate bars in the Nestle Noir line, I suggest you skip this one. The others are fantastic!

I've always preferred milk chocolate over dark chocolate. That is, before I had a taste of Noir Intense. I was really surprised at how creamy and smooth it is, not to mention how delicious it tastes! This turned out to be my favourite of the Nestle Noir chocolates.
Personally, it isn't exactly what I would call "intense" in the usual sense. The flavour is different from your average dark chocolate. Definitely less bite, and a bit sweeter than others. To me, it is the perfect blend of creamy bittersweetness that makes Noir Intense one of the best chocolates I've ever tried.

This eyelash curler is the real deal. When I'm running late in the morning and feeling really lazy, my one-two punch is blush and shu. This gets all my lashes all the way to the corners of my eyes. The result is batty, flirty lashes that last ALL DAY, until you wash your face. My lashes would usually fall flat at the end of the day with mascara, but my shu'd lashes -- even without mascara -- stay perfectly curled through a day at the office and a workout.
Believe the hype! This eyelash curler is a worthy investment!
